Right now, Eiji Aonuma is doing some innocuous task like cleaning the bathroom or going to the dentist that will be the inspirator for a major element for the next Zelda game.

The Legend of Zelda: Apicoectomy of the Maxillofacial

"When we were thinking of concepts for the next Legend of Zelda game, we thought about Link's body movements and interactions. He uses his legs and feet to traverse the world and his arms and hands in combat. But he doesn't use his mouth much. In past games, we made animations of Link eating or emoting his face but they were not never incorporated into the exploration and gameplay elements. While I was getting a root canal, I thought about how this procedure would improve my functions in the future and in turn, I thought about how Link would also benefit from this. As we thought about it more, we realized how utilizing the mouth is something we do in every day lives but rarely incorporated into our game character interactions. And so that is how the Lockjaw system was born. Link can now use his teeth to bite enemies or too hold additional items and weapons when his hands are full. Once we developed this system, we designed the world and characters to emphasize this new mechanics. So Link will regularly need to visit Tooth Fairy Fountains to upkeep this teeth and Ganon now runs a candy factor, hell bent on spreading tooth decaying across all of the residents of Hyrule".

Additional weapons in his mouth, huh?

Lmao, where is this from?
No idea! I'm hoping it's good info but from what Google Lens tells me it's from a Japanese parody show called 'The Hero Yoshihiko and The Demon King's Castle'

Per Wikipedia,
Yūsha Yoshihiko to Maō no Shiro (勇者ヨシヒコと魔王の城, lit. 'The Hero Yoshihiko and the Demon King's Castle') is a 2011 Japanese television Parody comedy about Yoshihiko, an inept hero who sets out to find the cure to a plague, but ends up fighting a larger evil. Yoshihiko is guided by a comedic Buddha, and accompanied by an incompetent wizard, a woman who wants to kill Yoshihiko because she thinks he killed her father, and a warrior who will kill Yoshihiko as soon as the warrior finishes telling Yoshihiko his stories. Yūsha Yoshihiko is heavily influenced by the RPG game series Dragon Quest, with Yoshihiko's outfit and most of the monsters being directly lifted from the series. It also contains references to other fantasy series and comedies, such as Monty Python.

Hey @chocolate_supra

What are your thoughts & feelings on Sonic Frontiers?
I love it. Haven't felt this much like Sega made a 3D Sonic for me since Adventure 1. Matter of fact it really reminds me of Adventure 1 in a lot of ways. Even in how it's kinda rough around the edges but the charm of the ambition kinda gives it a pass for me.

I do wish they had done more like actual Zones (or Action Stages) instead of recycling small chunks of previous ones, especially with how cool some of the visual designs for the cyberspace levels are (the freeway one especially is rad as shit), but any gripes I have are drowned out by just how much I've wanted to run around a big world at speed as Sonic for years. The boost-era games just refused to scratch that itch for me (even the ones I liked, like Unleashed and Generations), so it was almost like coming home. Seriously.

Now I just hope they can use it as a base to build a more competent game for the next outing. Maybe now that they have the open-world part set up they can focus more on building good Zones for the next one, so that the blend of the two can finally be the full-on successor to Sonic Adventure 1 that I've been waiting for for a quarter century, hell.

Guess who now owns a physical copy of pokemon blue? It will be good to finally sit down and play these pokemon games I got recently like it, heart gold and ruby

“I, upon making up a story in my mind that we might be at risk for losing our monetary investment, bought a last second plane ticket, put myself in a hotel, and comped food and other expenses rather than making a phone call that didn’t even need to be made yet. Please understand in person was essential so I could mention that proprietary info may have been leaked to the media, and telling them in person was more important than saving the money in the event we needed to look for another publisher to keep the studio alive. I have also hired a big law firm instead of using whatever legal counsel we already had so I can find my way out of every last bit of liability to no longer pay you and claim the creditors need it. I’m now leaving the industry to take care of my family while I screw yours over because I seemingly have been bad at managing the studio. Thanks for the memories.”

I think that’s more accurate.

The Kinnikuman OPs have been stuck in my head for weeks, yet I can't find the motivation to start reading the manga. I'm having trouble getting into a lot things in general.

Rebirth is a great game and one of Square's best in a while but it's also the 2nd part of a 3 part remake of a game from 1997. It's very story and character heavy. You basically need to play Remake before playing this one. The barrier to entry in both money and time is a lot.

This is probably, in part, why a lot of Nintendo games aren't very story heavy and certainly don't try to heavily connect sequels together, at least not to the level that many hardcore fans want. They want each new entry in a franchise to just be as accessible as the previous games. Didn't play the last 8 Zelda games because you weren't born yet? Don't worry about it. You don't need extensive knowledge of the lore but if you are a long time fan, we'll throw in some nods and easter eggs for you.

Probably a lot of people after buying FF7 remake were either:

1. Felt sated. They got to play a ff7 game with 2020s graphics and presentation and got to see familiar characters and places. They have had their fill and have no interest investing further money or time in more ff7 games.

2. Felt cheated. The game has remake in the title, which is a lie. It's not a remake of FF7. It's the first installment in a sequel series which isn't what many wanted. They just wanted a graphical face-lift to FF7. Probably some people felt burned after rolling credits and realizing it wasn't the whole game even.

Oops, almost forgot to post the intro.

Definitely super curious about the new show’s OP. Wonder if they’ll get Kushida back, he’s still active. Considering they like calling back where it hits hardest(namely bringing back both of Suguru’s VA’s), curious to see what they have planned

I had a similar reaction but damn you have such a poetic way of describing it

It's a great game. Sometimes the numbers don't go up! That's just how it goes. I'll let the bean counters worry about it.

There's nothing wrong with FF7R-2 selling the amount it did. It's a direct sequel where playing the first one is pretty much mandatory. It limits the audience to FF7R's sales and being single platform, PS5's lower install base limit it even further. Yeah, the game might not make out its budget but this is what contracted platform exclusivity is all about. Platform holder footing the whole bill.

So lemme get this straight
  • A very loud part of the capital-G Gamer community has been complaining for a while that women are "supposed" to be depicted a certain way in order for games to be successful
  • A sequel to a very visible game that has a couple iconic female characters throws in an "everyone in swimsuits!!" chapter that becomes highly shared online
  • Aforementioned sexist chuds celebrate saying "see this is how it's supposed to be done!!" and take it as a win for their crusade
  • Game is actually selling half what its predecessor sold
Do I have that right? 😅

Because if so: lol

lolololololololololololol
