News Pokémon Presents Scheduled for February 27 2024 at 6am PST

I’m still expecting something johto related, would be very cool a johto + unova remix.

My big hopes are for a Pokémon snap 3 (it’s been 3 years since new Pokémon snap) and a new Legends game (PLA is my favorite switch game after Botw).

And please TPC drop Pokémon pinball on NSO, thank you <3
Man...I don't know if I could dream big enough for Pokemon Snap 3. I'd be content with paid DLC for the existing game that expanded on the shrinkifier thingy, but I imagine the team has already been dissolved at this point. Don't know what would be worth including that could make it worthwhile unless it was saved for Switch 2 that isn't just a handful of the new mons from SV

Short Presentation this time around

Curiously it seems to alternate in length every year.

2024 - 12 minutes
2023 - 25 minutes
2022 - 14 minutes
2021 - 21 minutes
2020 - (didn't have an event I could find)
2019 - 7 minutes

I guess it'll probably be nothing major anyways; if I temper my expectations now I won't be so disappointed with the lack of Pokemon Legends.

Then again they did reveal S/V in the 2022 presentation, we could easily have a new game in 12 minutes

Cafe Remix (2 mins)
Pokémon Masters (2 mins)
Gen I and GB Online (2 mins)
S/V update (2 minutes)
Black/White HD2D remake by Team Asano (3 mins)
Pokémon Legends: BW3 teaser (2 mins)

absolutely manifesting a "we put some ROMs on Switch, that technically counts as our yearly release" year for the series

Just outright take the year off from releasing an RPG altogether and come out with something really polished next hear

Releasing Gen 3 on NSO would be a great move if this is truly an off year for Gamefreak
I did say in a previous thread that I hope the gen 1 games are fire red and leaf green cause I could not do gen 1 again with the QOL and graphical improvements lol

But I don't see it happening. Seems too good to be true haha

Most, if not all, NSO games have access to online multiplayer. R/S/E and FRLG releasing tomorrow with online capabilities is a break-the-internet tier announcement. Union rooms will be packed!

I’ll only see the answer to this after the event has aired, but what other games are on that sound library?

I’d be okay even with an expanded remake of the first game if this can help 🤣

If the OG games do land on NSO, then this would be the first time those games would be playable with others online for battling and trading, right?!

It will absolutely, with 100% certainty be NSO if they ever do release them as long as Nintendo have a say, which they do

In order to get the pokemon company to sign off on releasing them on the 3DS eshop they had to forego several of the key emulator features, they had to let them charge more than double any other VC title, and even then, they came years after the gameboy platform stopped getting updates. Despite all that, they ended up being the best selling eshop titles by far, which means the pokemon company has a ton of leverage in what they can demand compared to basically any other piece of software they could want to try and get for NSO.

They also couldn't get the pokemon company to sign off on letting them put the GBA/DS pokemon RPG games on the Wii U at all, and there's no way they didn't try very hard to work something out.

There's just no way the pokemon company agrees to them putting their GB/GBA roms on the store for a fraction of a subscription, forcing them in to features they'd never agree to otherwise like cloud saves and rewind since they're all running in the same emulator.

If we get pokemon games on switch and it's part of a subscription, I still maintain my opinion that it'll be part of pokemon home long before NSO ever even comes in to consideration.

Damn good point about the rewind system I forgot about that

If we get some classic mainline Pokémon re-releases at all, it'll be standalone releases of Gen 1 and 2 at most, and we'll like it.

Or at least I will.

I also can't imagine seeing old Gens on NSO tbh. As many said, it just doesn't fit Gamefreaks style to release something for a fraction of a possible higher price when sold as a stand-alone. My guess is, that they'll maybe release old Gens on the eshop like they did on the 3DS, having full control over which feature are present and which interactions with other games are possible. With the 3DS eshop closed, this also makes good sense zo release them again to get the most out of the people who want to play them on official hardware.

They should do:
2024: ILCA Unova remakes (a little bit more ambitious this time even if it remains a classic remake please)
2025: Legends/Let's Go/New take on the formula (announced next year, not today)
2026: Gen 10 - 30 years anniversary

Part of me really wants this to be Unova Remakes, but if it’s anything like the D&P remakes then I’ve got zero interest.

Damn if no new Pokemon games comes this year that is 100 % proof that Nintendo intended to release the Switch 2 this winter. Because without Pokemon and without Switch 2 Nintendo is pretty much dead in the waters this coming holiday.

I think something that desperately needs to be added is voice acting, and I'm not sure why it hasn't happened yet. Like yeah these games look kinda like butt and have technical issues, but it's when the characters are standing there mouthing words with text beneath them that it really feels like I'm playing a mobile game.
I mean itd be nice but I'd rather they improve anything and everything else first before they even try voice acting. Bad voice acting can ruin games. If it feels out of place it would really clash. Also, would it be every like of dialogue spoken? Even the NPC's in random houses and such?

A black/white remake in HD2D would essentially be my dream.

Would probably be the only chance we get to see pixel pokemon again as X/Y remakes are next and they began the shift to 3D
Watch them do the 3D games in HD2D just because

You know what I want them to announce?
A Pokemon 3D Platformer in the vein of Mario 64/Odyssey/etc. A high budget, refined one, like a Mario game. Where you play as Pikachu, and run around big-but-not-too-big open-ish zones, fighting Bosses, collecting stuff, etc.

Won't happen of course, but, at least give me some neat Spinoff or something.

So… pokepark?

Happy Pokémon Day to you all!! I hope that everyone enjoys today's Pokémon Presents and the entire day overall!!

I, personally, can't sleep because of my excitement for it HAHA!! :D

A Pokemon game where you stand by a tree and challenge passing children to fights or nothing, thanks.
Honestly, after the magicarp game I could see it as a weird mobile spinoff with some merch about ratata and young teenagers in shorts. Could be a fun distraction.

______
They always have to have 1 bigger announcement, so I guess remakes?
I just really hope for more ambition.i ignored the gen 4 remakes, and for legends...I really would hope that it waits till switch 2.
Other then that...new pokken? Maybe a new bigger budget spinoff for the switch?

Can't wait for a 12 minute deep dive into pokemon sleep.

How about a Pokémon game in which you look like a tree and then hit people who try watering you.

Pokémon Legends: Sudowoodo

There is not enough smoke for something "big" from Game Freak. I just hope that if we get an spin-off, it's something new and exciting, new genre, new ideas and modern gameplay. Anything but another entry of an old saga like Mistery Dungeon, Snap, etc.

12min is in line with what I'm expecting. Unova remakes were never happening.
I do appreciate the gall of doubling down mere hours before Unova games (likely remakes) are announced. I say confidently as I'm (also) doubling down on potentially being wrong lol

Khu posted a couple of tweets btw, this time they're actually less broad than the past vague Gen 5 teases:

Kind of really feeling an outsourced Unova game right now, at worst it's bad but GF gets more time for their games, at best it's great and GF still gets more time for their games, either way it's a win in my book.
