When i watched the Mario Movie i was depressed that we would return to the lifeless (in comparison) worlds of the Mario games. The film was brimming with terrific environments that made the games look so safe by comparison.
So you can imagine my shock that a 2D mario game, known for their lack of creativity, would be the one to hit that spot. I still cant believe it lol.
Just look at that, gorgeous. We need stuff like this on the next 3D Mario game.
Wouldnt be surprised if there was a Treehouse at Gamescom as they have doneWe are seeing more of this at Gamescom with Tezuka or Amano as I predicted weeks ago, it will probably be playable there too. Another trailer before that too.
Mario by retro studiosOne thing i am curious about that i haven't seen a lot of people talk about is this particular scene:
To Donkey Kong fans, this might seem a bit familiar!
Makes me wonder if the silhouette aesthetic of that particular level in Mario Wonder is part of nabbing a wonder seed or just part of the levels aesthetic.
Really hoping for the latter, which could open the door to even more cool stylized levels.
is there any truth to these Charles recasting conspiracy or is it just bs?

Asking again for a friend (me )Can anyone tell from the trailer or details if the playable characters will each have their own physics and gameplay (like SMB2/3DW) or not (like the New series)?
Yoshi has his flutter jump at least.Asking again for a friend (me )
Think hard, you can do it.Weird Mario is always the best Mario.
Also I am trying to place my finger on what the art style reminders me of. It’s obviously 2.5 but the models also have a flatness that make them feel like 2D images.
Yep. It’s something. Not sure. I’ve watched the trailer many times.I can’t put my finger on it, but something about SMB Wonder just feels off to me. I’m gonna need to see more. Cause right now I don’t know if I like what they showed.
Online multiplayer yes or no?
eShop mentions some form of online component but specifically only mentions local multiplayer on one Switch system. So...maybe? But they haven't said it and this game is coming out in four months, so set your expectations low.
Thank you! That bodes well! I hope the others have their specialized physics too.Yoshi has his flutter jump at least.
It has more details, more personality than NSMB, imo. But it is still not hand drawn 2d with black outlines like for exampleAll these people praising the new art style... am I blind? I can barely see any changes!
Level design looked fun, though. I'm sure it'll be great. Just looked nowhere near the kind of "next generation of 2d Mario" evolution I expected. I don't know if I was expecting hand-drawn art or sprites or what, but... this really just looked like more NSMB to me.
It's called a 3/4 perspective, and is standard in most 2D animation. For me it's the angle they're facing, it looks like they're in an isometric platformer looking/running down right, when they should be facing right.

It's too much in this art style and looks badit's 2d technique
I don't want to be mean, but you might need to look at the footage closer. This version of Mario is way closer to the 2D renditions of him in promotional artwork. It has been pointed before, but the characters are also showing a lot of squash and stretch that was just missing from previous iterations of the New series. They are taking artistic considerations with Mario that have been missing from everything aside the Mario & Luigi series. All these people praising the new art style... am I blind? I can barely see any changes!
FWIW 3D Land and 3D World already implemented silhouette sections in certain underground stages. One thing i am curious about that i haven't seen a lot of people talk about is this particular scene:

I really disagree, but I'm not sure this is something we can get to an objective truth on. A Mario game that emulated the art style of Kotabe's artwork was always the pipe dream for me, and this is as close as they have ever gotten to it.It's too much in this art style and looks bad
I think people are getting thrown off with that talking flower cause I think the voice of the flower and mario mix lmao.Just YouTubers wanting clicks.
Arlo convinced that Mario saying "Wonderful!" in the Japanese trailer sounds nothing like Charles. I watched it and it couldn't sound any more like Martinet.
Probably. There is more room for secrets with the time limit being taken away. I expect a good amount of secrets since they have Mario tripping on acid lolDoes anyone else get the feeling this will be absolutely packed with secrets?
You know the most insane thing of this game?
This is only the first trailer which is usually the "safe" trailer that introduces the basics of the game while keeping most of its secrets and cool stuff for the second trailer (just look at 3d world and odyssey first and second trailer).
We still haven't seen anything and it already looks crazy.
Get ready people, it's plumbers and princesses vs spiders on October 20th.
I really don't know how someone would consider this game too similar to the new super mario games. Like just a simple comparison of the 2 announcement trailers of new super mario bros U e mario bros wonder and it's night and day.

these trailers make me realize how poor the trailer is for NSMBU, why is it so slowwwwwww compared to the Wonder trailer
I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t see the blatant similarities. They both feature Mario and Green Mario.I really don't know how someone would consider this game too similar to the new super mario games.
Would be awesome if it was SMB3-like where each world had a rulerWe can see the mushroom kingdom in the background of the first level. I guess the flower kingdom is the neighboring kingdom of the mushroom kingdom.
I guess the story might be that Bowser is terrorizing Marios neighbors and the Mario gang is trying to help them. Maybe we will see the flower kingdom equivalent to Mario and Peach (we already saw a toad-looking NPC at the end of the level).
Yeah both games feature the brothers from the Mario bros movie. I don't remember their names but you get who I meanI don’t know how anyone wouldn’t see the blatant similarities. They both feature Mario and Green Mario.

I booted up nsmbu after yesterdays announcement, and man, ive beaten that game before, but it’s boring and safe as sin. Wonder looks to be much more interesting thankfullyMan, the complete lack of energy in the NSMBU trailer is striking - even disregarding how much more alive the Wonder trailer feels in comparison.
Metroid Dread is a more recent example of this as well (even has the same announcement and release time frame!). The first trailer for that looked sublime, but it showed barely anything of the game compared to later trailers. You know the most insane thing of this game?

Nintendo’s entire marketing department in the Wii U era was awful.these trailers make me realize how poor the trailer is for NSMBU, why is it so slowwwwwww compared to the Wonder trailer
What was wrong with the net code? That explains the net code
apparently it was really bad and laggyWhat was wrong with the net code?
