I can’t speak for the latter. I think the best action is to ignore post you don’t agree with and continue to enjoy your life. It’s not worth a back and forth on a gaming forum.Okay, I can't speak for all of Famiboards but I can say that I do not take people disagreeing with my view personally and read posts that I disagree with all day every day on this site and it's fine. Notice I ain't got any beef with the people just saying "I don't like it."
But don't compare that to psychological manipulation or emotional abuse.
Watch footage of NSMBU and then Wonder and tell me they look the same. The character models for the main cast and the enemies are completely different, the art direction is more in line with a children’s storybook, etc. The two games barely look like they’re from the same series to me.I get that they've animated the characters differently, but the style of the environments and ground tiles, right down to the way the bushes are drawn, that's all 100% still NSMBU. It even still uses that same retro font imitating the SMB title screen, which was exclusively a NSMB thing. Only major difference I'm seeing is that they're actually all new environments for once, and they noticeably upgraded the detail and effects on the backgrounds (though so did NSMBU from NSMBWii).
Even the music still seems tied to that one vocal effect everyone hates. Hopefully that was just an unfortunate coincidence, because I never minded the way NSMB looked much, but the lows of the music when it fully embraced its "NSMB-ness" were like self-parody. The NSMB2 athletic theme should have been a YouTube shitpost, instead it's in a game that millions of people bought.
I can't believe they actually kept the New aesthetic after all the hate it's gotten and how fucking long it's been around (I'm loving all the completely different reads on what this looks like though, lol), but at least we're definitely not getting the same 8 worlds for the fifth time.
Also it's on drugs now, which I mean, I kind of got over Normal Super Mario Bros. years ago, but I guess Nintendo can make one themselves if they want.
Nintendo will never make a sprite based or hand drawn 2D Mario
Why? What's stopping them from giving the IP to an indie team and letting them do this? Why can't their philosophy on this change in 20 or 30 years when the people running the company will change? I know it wouldn't make business sense for them to do themselves right now, unless anything with a 3D art style sells way below expectations, but why do we have to be complacent with it?
I didn't expect it to be sprite or hand drawn, but that doesn't mean I have to resign myself to it never ever happening.
Certainly been a couple of good years for Daisy fans.
Playable in Super Mario Run (which Nintendo does indeed consider a mainline platformer), playable in Smash Bros. (even as a glorified alt, but whatever), and now playable in this.
You don't even need to get closer to notice that both styles are vastly different.theey kinda look similar at a distance but when you get closer you see the two artstyles are very distinct
Because it doesn't. It beats NSMB in animation alone. Why are so many people in denial that it shares similarities with nsmb?
Nintendo with a surprise GOTY candidate in an already packed year
But why the hell is it the same day as Spider-Man, I only have so much time, man
This is absolutely NOT the new aesthetic wtf are you talking about
this doesn't look like the new aesthetic at all
Seems more like people are trying to force more similarities, the animation work alone is a huge step up with how much more expressive the characters are alongside more vibrants colors, in movement the gap is even bigger. Why are so many people in denial that it shares similarities with nsmb? Is it that they can't reconcile that they enjoy the way this game looks, but hate how nsmb looks? Is it because they want to distance the discourse from that style as much as they can?
There's some semantics at play on what some people consider different style. But to say they look like two completely different series is, well it seems outright dishonest.
What’s the caterpillar part to Pyoro’s tweet?I wonder if we get more animal transformations outside of the elephant?
Probably referring to the wiggler character you can see in the key artWhat’s the caterpillar part to Pyoro’s tweet?

It is an evolution rather than a revolution but that still doesn't make it look like NSMB
That's fair I guess you could say there is a lineage just like there was for the games from nes to snes.It is massively improved, but it's clearly still connected to the nsmb style, which I don't think is a bad thing at all. They took what worked, and made it so much better.
I hope you can turn them off...Those speaking flowers tho…
The part of the video with him acting alone showed everyone as a Yoshi, which makes me wonder if it was one of the Wonder effects turning everyone into a Yoshi or something.Yoshi show up on the lives counter meaning he's playable and not just a mount
Considering Yoshi has flutter jump, I think Yoshi is the "easy" character the way Nabbit and Toadette were. My guess is everyone can pick a Yoshi to play unlike Mario/Luigi/etc.The part of the video with him acting alone showed everyone as a Yoshi, which makes me wonder if it was one of the Wonder effects turning everyone into a Yoshi or something.
