This is one of those stories where I’m having a hard time believing it’s actually true.Fun fact: this boss character was originally a rejected Pikachu redesign
This sounds like one of those translation errors were they said something in Japanese that dosen‘t sound that out of place.Fun fact: this boss character was originally a rejected Pikachu redesign
The currently announced roster doesn't instil much confidence: Charged had 12 captains and 8 sidekicks, Battle League is launching with 10 captains and no sidekicks apparently which makes me think they're gonna drip-feed the content like the other Mario Sports games. Tennis Aces is in a decent place now but it took a while to get there. I just hope there will be enough to keep people engaged beyond the online mode.I finally listened to @NateDrake podcast episode for the direct and I think he should check out the Striker games again cause they are absolutely content deprived lol. Being NLG in the dev chair shouldn’t really get the benefit of the doubt. Not a fan of the Camelot sports game for switch but they did a better job compared to strikers with their switch and GameCube games.
My dude.
And this which is still in the planning stages (the newsletter has had some good stuff re: NWC): https://www.fanstratics.com/
As much as I'm turning into the "Zelda Music Guy" - and as much as I adore those soundtracks - the Heroes II-IV Soundtracks were extremely formative for me as a composer. The soundtracks are full of little miniatures expertly capturing the different moods and environments. If I ever get to (co-)write the soundtrack for a great Heroes-like game I'd jump for joy.Oh damn! Well I was technically right that nobody has made one yet!
That looks great though!

I wanted 3D Donkey Kong. I expected Mario Odyssey 2. I'm pleasantly surprised by 3D Kirby. This boss definitely channels the ugly designs of the Broodals from Odyssey, I agree.
Jokes aside it looks really great. Starting to think this could be something special.
Strikers still needs to have more characters than Aces or Golf on launch as 8 characters needed to in the arena at once. There has to enough character to mix/match four of them for a team and no, babies won't do. I reckon full Bowser kids and Broodals will be there on launch day.Yeah, I suspect Strikers is going to be very much like Tennis Aces (didn't try Golf). It looks great and plays well, but the amount of content on day one, and the organisation of that content might not be enough for people who don't want to play primarily online. I'd assume it'll be a strong local multiplayer game, too.
Still bitter Tennis Aces didn't have a fleshed out Tournament mode.
I do this all the timerewatching all the trailers from the direct to feel something again
I need those.. in my mouth.I'm still hung up on the Joy-Con Kit-Kats

I dunno if it was the same music team (probably was) but the soundtrack for Might and Magic 7 was also absolutely sublime. As much as I'm turning into the "Zelda Music Guy" - and as much as I adore those soundtracks - the Heroes II-IV Soundtracks were extremely formative for me as a composer. A few favourites:
Heroes III Tower
Heroes IV Academy
Heroes III Fortress
Heroes IV Sea (these Celtic tracks came from a music pack made by Riverdance musicians with some little added orchestrations - likely a result of Heroes IV's rushed development)
Heroes II Grass
Between 3DO dragging New World Computing into the abyss and the dubious demise of Black Hole Entertainment after the release of Heroes VI one'd think the series is cursed...

Particularly these two:
God I loved the Celtic tracks on Heroes IV. The grass theme is so good.these Celtic tracks came from a music pack made by Riverdance musicians with some little added orchestrations - likely a result of Heroes IV's rushed development)
Early 3D was a mistake. Although the lead designer on HoMM 3 basically said that art was one of NWC's weak spots.I’ve looked up screenshots of M&M and it looks like the series’ graphics went from simple to weird but charming to looking like a fake game you’d see on CSI: New York.
It's one of my favorite games of all time. I'll find time to make a retrospective but the progression systems in it are just divine, it's like the peak of RPG progression. The feeling from being novice in a skill to expert to master to grandmaster, and getting all of the massive boosts in capabilities that come with it, it's just awesome. And I love the wackiness, how you go from being killed by giant rats and bats to becoming a flying group of blaster rifle wielding demi-gods taking down like a dozen dragons and titans without breaking a sweat. It's gaming bliss.Whew, that's a blast from the past for sure :O . Yep, the same team AFAIK! I had written a paragraph about M&M7 but deleted it because it was the only M&M that I have any experience with, so 1). glad you brought it up and 2). GIT OUT OF MY BRAIN.
Never finished it BTW, it was quite an obtuse game - but also very mysterious and inspiring.
Looking forward to hanging out with all the old geezers in the HoMM Startopic!
1 was very simple, yeah.I’ve looked up screenshots of M&M and it looks like the series’ graphics went from simple to weird but charming to looking like a fake game you’d see on CSI: New York.
shhhhhhhh he's sleeping
For the release of Horizon Forbidden West*, we want to do something to help nature... with you. Just like how Aloy fights to save the Earth in the game, we can do something together to help our planet.
Play Horizon Forbidden West and unlock the "Reached the Daunt" trophy before March 25th, and we, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, will plant a tree across the country to help complete 3 different reforestation projects.**
So let's grab our controllers and play for our planet!

Might take you up on that one day, I've got it on GOG (and probably also have the original CD-ROM version somewhere on the attic...) - mostly for nostalgia reasons. The furthest along I came was when I aligned with Heaven and got a swanky blue skin for the UI.Anyway, if you ever want to try it again and need help with the obtuseness I can explain anything in much more detail than it requires.
I kinda love that pre-rendered sprite look that VI-VIII and Heroes III-IV rocked in a Donkey Kong Country sort of way.I’ve looked up screenshots of M&M and it looks like the series’ graphics went from simple to weird but charming to looking like a fake game you’d see on CSI: New York.
That (plus a console release) would be one way to make me try these games!Honestly a remaster of 6-8 with much higher quality sprites and environmental textures would look fantastic today, IMO.

but if they cared about the environment the PS5 (AND Xbox Series X for that matter!!!) would maybe not use a COLOSSAL amount of energy lmao
Oh, so you got pretty far into it! Most people kinda lose interest or get stuck in the Dwarven Barrows, unsurprisingly.Might take you up on that one day, I've got it on GOG (and probably also have the original CD-ROM version somewhere on the attic...) - mostly for nostalgia reasons. Too bad Ubisoft completely annihilated the IP.That (plus a console release) would be one way to make me try these games!
PS1 Lara Croft is obviously the peak of realistic human anatomy and what all games should strive for. /sThat's why we shouldn't have photorealistic graphics, now the Gamers™ are going to freak out with woman with manly beards!
Back to PSX polygons.
Arbor Day is April 29th, so seems like a strange cut off date for this “promotion”Not to be Deborah Downer here
