They keep doing this a lot, sometimes they are deleting old Directs from YouTube, same with Ring Fit reveal, Switch Lite, Switch Presentation, LABO and so on. No idea why they are doing that. Also, Nintendo either never even uploaded that BBA reveal trailer to Youtube, or they did but deleted it later. Weird.
This isn't getting mentioned in any Direct, even in the likely event that there is one between now and its release. It's specifically the sort of game that tends to skip Directs completely.Fuck it, Direct next week, they’re REALLY ashamed of this game, it’ll go like this:
- the announcement isn’t even at an even hour, it’s a few minutes after, letting people focus on the new controllers for a minute instead
- no mention of when gameplay will be shown, not attracting attention to the game
So…
Direct next week, the game gets a headline, but is buried amongst the rest of the announcements. They could do Wednesday, Tuesday like E3, or even Thursday, airing the same day as SGF a la last September
Kinda surprised by this mentality, honestlyLate but holy shit I cannot believe that Stinky Horse is actually real lol. Given the way it was announced (not even a trailer?) it seems like Nintendo really does not want to release this game. I can't wait to see how bad it is
Anyway, on the topic of a hypothetical June Direct, this might be copium but I do feel like this announcement actually makes the chances of a June Direct greater. I mean, Nintendo may as well dump the rest of their minor announcements and trash like Everybody 1-2-Switch right before their next big marketing event, right? They sure as hell weren't ever gonna announce Stinky Horse in a Direct!
Wonder when the official announcement will come.
That's helluva price, and also a weird price - since I already have it pre-ordered and paid for the equvivalent of ~45$ US here in Sweden.
Best bet would be licensed content, most likely music. If they licensed a song's usage for a year of advertisements at a product's launch/reveal, it makes more sense to take the trailer down once sales have slowed down than keep paying renewals for the rights. They keep doing this a lot, sometimes they are deleting old Directs from YouTube, same with Ring Fit reveal, Switch Lite, Switch Presentation, LABO and so on. What? The game isn't available physically in NA or what? That's super strange, given it's easily available for 50€ here in Europe as a physical release.
That's EB Games Australia, so the price is in Australian dollars, not burger bucks.
Oh so the official announcement you're talking of is the delay? Cause i've always thought that Australia was treated like EU/PAL, so if it's officially available as physical here, it should also be in Australia.
The official announcement I mean is the release date they have listed, lol. I've noticed some retailers put the end of August and September or even June as placeholder dates, but EB have this very specific date up now.
A whole bunch of stuff. The last set of things she talked about were Metroid Prime Remastered, Fire Emblem Engage, and Everybody 1-2 Switch; she was talking about these in late 2021/early 2022.What were Emily's other leaks?
The fact that there's no trailer or even a single screenshot of the game is notable.I've had my coffee! Thoughts:
- we're getting 3 consecutive EPD titles across May, June, and July, in the system's seventh year on the market. I honestly can't recall another point in time that happened on Switch.
- Everybody 1-2 Switch joins an interesting clump of 2023 titles which were likely all content complete in mid to late 2021: Metroid Prime Remastered, Fire Emblem Engage, Advance Wars Reboot Camp being the others. The latter was delayed because of the Ukraine war obviously, but the fact the other 3 were held back so long is interesting.
- 2023 has at least one Nintendo published title every month of the year up to Pikmin 4 in July, and 8 titles launching in the first 7 months of the year.
- we've also had 2 more systems added to NSO, plus DLC support for Splatoon 3, Fire Emblem Engage, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Mario Kart.
- the announcement strategy isn't unusual at all for an EPD 4 title. Lower key than Ring Fit Adventure and Labo, which got pre-reveal teases, but in keeping with stuff like Game Builder Garage, Big Brain Academy, and Brain Training. Miitopia and Switch Sports are the only EPD 4 titles to get Direct announcements.
So in sum: I'm not sure why people are reacting as if this is all that crazy. We had a thread on Fami back in February which asked why June was empty, and myself and other users wondered if it was going to be the month Nintendo snuck this game out.
Another point: 2023's software and services support is pretty much in line with previous years on Switch. There's nothing here that makes me think second half 2023 is going to be noticeably poor; I do think there'll be fewer second half titles than first half titles. Probably 5 releases (including Pikmin 4, not including eShop only titles) versus 7 releases in the first half.
Well, September 30th is a Saturday, so that day in particular is definitely not the final date at least. Amazon AU went for the December 31st 2023 placeholder to start, for the record. We'll see what happens in the end; if they're still targeting northern hemisphere Summer they'll probably say something soon.I think September is the actual new date. It was ... either July or August before on Amazon.de's detail page, now it reads September 30th and i got an E-Mail from Amazon also saying that the release date has changed and that it will release later.
It's the Boss Baby fontIs the 'Switch' in "EVERYBODY 1 2 Switch" in farming simulator typeface?
That just tracks with what was originally leaked about the game: it's a game that reportedly play tested horrifically back in 2021/22 and it has a lower price than the original. It's not a very good game, and it's not something Nintendo have much confidence in.The fact that there's no trailer or even a single screenshot of the game is notable.
I am actually hoping they reworked Everybody 1-2 Switch somewhat, as it was rumored to come out in 2022 but in reality it's probably just Nintendo sitting on it and it was completed way back when.she was talking about these in late 2021/early 2022.
The price point and lack of fanfare makes me suspect they're just launching it largely as it was back then. The price point is even lower than the original, so Nintendo aren't fussed about generating much return on investment.I am actually hoping they reworked Everybody 1-2 Switch somewhat, as it was rumored to come out in 2022 but in reality it's probably just Nintendo sitting on it and it was completed way back when.
Yeah, that's the thing. Makes me wonder why they did not make this NSO Expansion Pack release as rumored, that would make better sense. Or just scrap it all together, this type of game did not likely cost huge amount of money. There are bunch of projects in EPD that did not make light of the day. It's even funnier when report from Fanbyte mentions that trusted employees from Nintendo were raising alarms that if it releases as it is , it would demage Nintendo's reputation as a software developer. The price point and lack of fanfare makes me suspect they're just launching it largely as it was back then. Perhaps it underwent further play-testing internationally and got a better reception, but the release window and price point makes me think Nintendo recognise they can effectively bury any reputational damage beneath Zelda's acclaim. Zelda will keep dominating the conversation, and Pikmin 4 is out a few weeks later; it would be surprising if the latter didn't also generate a very positive reception. Pikmin 4's marketing campaign will probably also kick off before this game is even out, further distracting from it.Yeah, that's the thing. If there's another tweet drop next week, say hello to September Direct.
Completely agree!Going back to other Nintendo games, I still think that launching MP4 later this year makes sense considering how they dropped MPR out of nowhere and just like that early this year.
You know what makes sense to release next year and on Switch 2 though? Super Mario Odyssey 2 or a new 3D Mario. Unlike MP4 and TOTK, they never promised the next 3D Mario to launch on the OG Switch and it would be the perfect game to sell the most systems right from the start.
I think they will. This is the lull before the next system and Nintendo doesn't act rationally all the time.Reeking Stallion doesn't change much since it's releasing before Pikmin. Mini, Twitter or eShop Direct, whatever it turns out to be, we're not going from July 21st to September without some sort of idea about the schedule.
In chronological order: Pikmin 4, F-Zero Remaster, Kid Icarus Uprising Remaster, Metroid Prime 4, New-New Super Mario Bros.Another point: 2023's software and services support is pretty much in line with previous years on Switch. Wouldn't Nintendo's return to GamesCom be a good time to position a Direct? They’re not gonna spend two months after Pikmin having zero dated games
No, because September and TGS are the month after.Wouldn't Nintendo's return to GamesCom be a good time to position a Direct?
