That's great! It's awesome to be able to share our passions with loved ones! There are some really dope Metroid prints on INPRNT, uploaded and sold directly by the artists, so I went ahead and ordered these, awhile ago. They are, in my opinion, the most exceptional Metroid pieces available there:

I wouldn’t rule it out entirely. If they’re not just going to wrap the GameCube version in an emulator, I’d expect there will be SOME changes/tweaks. Maybe new content too? I’m not holding my breath for a full restoration of the cut stuff, but it would certainly help explain why they want to re-release Prime 1 on its own.
I would love for there to be more content this time around. It would make my absolutely abysmal year somewhat better I know that. Playing my favorite game would help. Based Nintendo.

We basically know as much as the two of you do. I wouldn't say "delayed", since we had no real idea whether it was coming in 2022 to begin with, but yeah, there's been no concrete info indicating that it's coming out this year. I think we're past the point where it's reasonable to expect it to release this year, unfortunately. We'll just have to hope for 2023, like we hoped for 2019, and 2020, and 2021, and 2022...
Who is "they"? Insiders, real or not, aren't a singular blob of people. Emily who was one of the first people if not the first person to talk about a Prime 1 remake never claimed to have heard anything about a MP Trilogy before for instance.

Even completely putting aside any and all insider information, I don't think the idea of a Metroid Prime remaster being released at some point prior to Prime 4 is all that dodgy, or hard to believe, but yeah, it's definitely quite apparent that this whole rumor cycle began years too early, unfortunately. Regardless, I've done my best to keep the flame of hope alive within myself, and I think it'll all be worth it, once we finally do see this thing.
The same source that 100% got everything about Fire Emblem Engage right says this exists too. They don’t know release timing, but it definitely exists.

It's not really the same rumor though. The trilogy rumors were based on whispers of what plans Nintendo might have, and yeah, people got a bit carried away with them. The Prime remaster rumor that has been around since last year has multiple sources corroborating concrete details, plus hiring calls and LinkedIn profiles which confirm the timing of when a game Retro is working on finished testing. It's definitely real, it's just a matter of how long Nintendo chooses to sit on it
Yeah, I think the idea of Prime launching with Drake was borne out of a sense that there weren't really any other options if Drake were to still make this year, but I don’t think it was ever the most likely option (and I say that as someone who hoped/believed for a while). Occam's Razor says Drake is most likely coming on May 12 with Zelda

Maybe the game is a full on remake. That would make better sense to hold it until the Drake release window.
the running rumor is that it's akin for Xenoblade 1 DE in that the under-the-hood stuff is the same while the assets are remade and relit. it's also important to ask if this was ever intended for Drake because so far, all we heard is that this is made for the switch and will be bound by the limitations of the system
That is assuming Drake is a wholly new generation instead of a Switch 1 power boost
we know what Drake is and it's a new generation for all intents and purposes. but I don't expect MP1 remake to have been made for that beyond a resolution boost. it's a switch game first, as far as we know
