If that Mario Kart OLED bundle is true, isnt this going to be the first OLED bundle that comes with a game?
Clearing stock for something huh?If that Mario Kart OLED bundle is true, isnt this going to be the first OLED bundle that comes with a game?
is a possibility, i could see one of this two things happening next year, one: Nintendo will do a presentation to reveal Switch sucessor in february or they will do the first Nintendo Direct of the year in february as usual, followed by a Nintendo Switch sucessor focused presentation late february/early march, in a way february Direct in early february and end the month with a Switch sucessor presentation, any of this situations could happenrandom prediction but what if we don't have a feb direct next year and instead have a switch 2 reveal + presentation instead?
I feel like the former (Feb Switch Successor reveal) is more likely because the latter kinda sets up the games in the Feb direct to fail, at least from my perspective. If those games are lower-risk projects, I kinda get it, but it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.is a possibility, i could see one of this two things happening next year, one: Nintendo will do a presentation to reveal Switch sucessor in february or they will do the first Nintendo Direct of the year in february as usual, followed by a Nintendo Switch sucessor focused presentation late february/early march, in a way february Direct in early february and end the month with a Switch sucessor presentation, any of this situations could happen
i also considered the possibilty, if Switch sucessor is anounced in february, Nintendo could show, look Paper Mario the Thousand Years Door remake release in april and we planing to update/patch the game, to feature some of Switch sucessor features such as Ray-Tracing(show the cinematic before the Hooktail battle with Ray-Tracing enabled)I feel like the former (Feb Switch Successor reveal) is more likely because the latter kinda sets up the games in the Feb direct to fail, at least from my perspective. However, small counterpoint to bring up, is if that later Nintendo Switch 2 reveal shows those games as being cross-gen with enhanced graphics. Not a perfect work around, but it's something ig.
Showing the Thousand Year Door Remake with Ray-tracing in a Switch Presentation showcase would be one of the most unhinged reveals Nintendo would ever do. Arlo would literally explode on-stream.i also considered the possibilty, if Switch sucessor is anounced in february, Nintendo could show, look Paper Mario the Thousand Years Door remake release in april and we planing to update/patch the game, to feature some of Switch sucessor features such as Ray-Tracing(show the cinematic before the Hooktail battle with Ray-Tracing enabled)
I would like that to come true just to see Arlo go through the roof!Showing the Thousand Year Door Remake with Ray-tracing in a Switch Presentation showcase would be one of the most unhinged reveals Nintendo would ever do. Arlo would literally explode on-stream.
This is pure theorycraft though. Idk how much Nintendo is willing to go all-in on RT with their games, including for games that are going to be cross-gen.
I don't know if it would benefit the type of game that much. Fixed perspectives, predictable environments. will nintendo throw rt on just any of their games especially a remake of a gamecube game, I think they might save it for thier big games. also ttyd is more of a 2.5d game I dont think it really needs rtShowing the Thousand Year Door Remake with Ray-tracing in a Switch Presentation showcase would be one of the most unhinged reveals Nintendo would ever do. I think a Switch 2 reveal in March is more likely. We still have quite a few unannounced Switch 1 games that have been long rumored, enough to decently fill a February Direct without revealing the Switch 2. Plus we still need dates for TTYD & LM2.I feel like the former (Feb Switch Successor reveal) is more likely because the latter kinda sets up the games in the Feb direct to fail, at least from my perspective. Nah, May is too soon & wouldn’t give the Switch 2 a long enough marketing cycle to hype it up. I was thinking March reveal & September release, lining up with most of the reputable reports saying H2 2024 for the Switch 2’s launch.Reveal in March and release in May is what I am literally betting quite a bit of money on. Not to say Ill lose any if it doesn't but optimal investing strategy-wise. In the tech investing circle, We are all convinced of a May launch but is still falls under speculation without hard proof. Investor win rate on calling product launches is like 65% lol

You may be right, especially considering the kind of game that TTYD is. I do think a lot of Nintendo games don't need RT at all, but I am curious about what kind of games would benefit from it/be able to run with RT in the first place.will nintendo throw rt on just any of their games especially a remake of a gamecube game, I think they might save it for thier big games. also ttyd is more of a 2.5d game I dont think it really needs rt
I think they’ll do the first things you mentioned in March. I’m a firm believer that we’re getting one last Switch 1-focused general Direct in February, otherwise they would’ve shown the Genealogy remake as well as MP2 & 3 in September.February name reveal + single photo of the system
March presentation of the console + game trailers (lines up with march gamescom talk)
September release
March Reveal to May release is way too short, that's less than 3 months.Reveal in March and release in May is what I am literally betting quite a bit of money on. I’m pretty sure the millions thing was editorialized, but they did mention that it was a major release. And at least as of last year, Mega Man is considered a major franchise for Capcom.Capcom reconfirms title that will sell millions by end of March.
How curious
Being so fr rn, I have no idea why it would still be unannounced unless it depends on unrevealed hardware.
How is that, of all things, most likely?I’m pretty sure the millions thing was editorialized, but they did mention that it was a major release. And at least as of last year, Mega Man is considered a major franchise for Capcom.
In short, it’s most likely for Mega Man Match.
I don't know if he's reliable or yet another glory seeker.
Nintendo Super Play: same concept (hybrid), no dock, buttons like Super Famicom, same display size but reduced weight.
Even if it was for a new hardware (which I don't think its releasing before March), matching it with a reveal makes no sense if its release before the end of the fiscal year.Capcom reconfirms title that will sell millions by end of March.

Before someone says it's too late to reveal for a March launch, their explicit, public plan is to have a short reveal to release. Next week? January? Who knows.
maybe by streaming directly, I don't knowHow would it be a hybrid without a way to dock it to a TV?
It does if the hardware releases before the end of the fiscal year is the thing.matching it with a reveal makes no sense if its release before the end of the fiscal year.

and the part about same display size.I don't think any of that is too out of the ordinary expect the lack of dock.
Unfortunately that part is almost certainly false, making the rest doubtful.
Dual screen gaming started and ended with Nintendo being the sole company utilising it (?)
Still... I wouldn't call it dead forever, only recently I see a lot of development being done around dual screen laptops and phones, now a handheld again as well. I don't think they'll really take off but eh.
If Nintendo would go the route of a dual screen again it could add a distinction to future third and first party games that could nudge customers to that specific version.
The DS was a great success (not necessarily because of the dual screen) but I don't see a reason why they wouldn't do it again and make their games more unique again, personally I thought they struck gold with it.
The only big reason against a dual screen imo would be that it becomes more work creating a layer for single screen docked gameplay vs handheld dual screen gameplay.
The Capcom leak showed that they have high sales expectations for Match. How is that, of all things, most likely?
If it were that, they don't exactly have incentive to... not announce it this close to launch, unless it's dependent on something else.
Don’t think a May release is likely at all IMO. Most likely a reveal early in the year with a September/October releaseReveal in March and release in May is what I am literally betting quite a bit of money on. I understand, it was worth asking. Maybe he was a famous leakerI don't think any of that is too out of the ordinary except the lack of dock.

Don't even need an adapter. While I don't ever expect 3DS to come to NSO, instead opting for remasters and remakes, DS NSO makes a lot of sense. DS on Wii U already had multiple screen configurations outside of top on the TV, bottom on the GamePad, and I completed four or five games like that quite comfortably. As long as Nintendo continues their hybrid approach to platforms, dual screens won’t see the light of day imo.
As you mentioned, added complexity, development costs for teams, plus there’s the added costs and complexity for the system itself. As a product of its time, the DS, and 3DS were great systems. But I feel in this day and age, that time has come and gone.
I could be wrong, but outside of maybe a DS/3DS classic down the road for those who want to revisit those games, it’ll be something niche.
But that is also why I think given the form factor of the Switch, you can already put DS/3DS games on it by simply turning the system 90 degrees to be vertical, and reconnect the joy cons via an adapter.
Nintendo already makes peripherals for the Switch, so it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to make a vertical adapter for DS/3DS games. But truth be told, those kind of adapters exist currently for fans of vertical Shmups.
That would be my personal take. That does not answer your question of the future for Nintendo, but at least in terms of revisiting dual screen gaming in genera, it’s already possible.
WUST be like:why would Nintendo abandon a successful design model for some weird streaming thing?
T239 doesn't really make sense outside of a hybrid, so I doubt it wouldn't be.I don’t think they will abandon the hybrid approach for the next system but if they did that would be a huge disappointment for me.
Ok.The Capcom leak showed that they have high sales expectations for Match.
yes it's extremely unlikely. but it's within the realms of possibility that a dockless Switch could be designed without making the connections to enable TV mode overly complicated. not saying I have the design answer just that it could be possible, however unlikely. is this a good idea? probably not, the dock looks streamlined and a selling point providing whole aesthetic of it being a home handheld hybrid. The dock is what makes the "hybrid" part of the system effortless and easy to understand. Complicating the setup for TV mode would be extremely detrimental to the brand and public perception.
My thoughts exactly. Which is why the Switch will be a permanent form factor for Nintendo to follow, like their own PlayStation. Whether or not the next console will be called Switch again, what stands is that this form factor has come to stay.Gaming is trending towards hybrid concepts and platforms instead of generations (which still exist of course) by influence of mobile technology. Smartphones have been popular for "only" 10 years, so it's no surprise other branches of computing are still feeling its influence. Every company is choosing some form of hybrid gaming, cause people want to play on the go, or at least have the option. And hardware developed for mobile is more efficient. Nintendo chose the pure hardware route of making a portable easy to connect to a TV. Xbox is choosing the cloud to make your phone, laptop and/or PC your everything console. Apple, wanting to invest into games, is using their tight ecosystem of computers and phones to make a platform of hardware that plays the same games. And Sony is testing the waters with the PSPortal, and no doubt they are experimenting in the back some hybrid strategies.
Assuming the “leak” is real, maybe the information got mixed up:why would Nintendo abandon a successful design model for some weird streaming thing?
They said "Super Play" was a pseudonym, not the actual title of the console. My thoughts exactly. Which is why the Switch will be a permanent form factor for Nintendo to follow, like their own PlayStation. Whether or not the next console will be called Switch again, what stands is that this form factor has come to stay.
Assuming the “leak” is real, maybe the information got mixed up:
• There’s a dock, but the Super Play will function like a Wii U Gamepad: streaming
— You can either play with Joycons or with the console itself
Also, a name change wouldt surprise me because of brand saturation, but PlayStation has managed to stick with the same name since the 90’s
— But then again, PlayStation is a name that has built goodwill over the years. Switch is a recent console. The brand fatigue from a new brand versus an old one is debatable
and the part about same display size
I see people saying things like this, but wouldn't it be kind of foolish to take actions to clear stock while they're still producing them? If they just stopped making OLEDs today they'd run out of them before too long.Clearing stock for something huh?

as a cross gen game, it doesn't make much sense. but I can see Nintendo games having some methods completely replaced by RT. it wouldn't affect games like Paper MarioYou may be right, especially considering the kind of game that TTYD is.
