Water?
I can't fucking believe there's a dedicated track for pretty much every single thing in the game, it's insane.
I thought it was jarring when the sole Moogle in 16 just made the stock noise, but now I see the alternative is far worse. These cutesy things flying around sounding like Chopper create this game's equivalent of the tonal dissonance Kingdom Hearts has whenever you go to the Winnie the Pooh levels.i wish they just made moogle noises instead of actually talking

BOW WOW WOW, BOW WOW WOWI did a stupid escort sidequest the other day and it had a dedicated music track that was a bop and I was like.. other games have a dedicated "sidequest song", and this game has a separate track just for this one sidequest.
And it only took them 4 years since Remake, despite development starting at the beginning of Covid 19. They knew what they were doing with this game and it shows. Probably had a rather smooth production.400 tracks is just wild. That's what strikes me about this entire project. They could have just had half the amount of NPC's in the towns, cut one region and not bother with QB at all, and still ring this home. But they went there. For everything. They truly walked the extra mile, and that's just awesome.
worth noting that while the Remake Soundtrack released soon after the game (believe March 29 the Rebirth soundtrack is slated for) - a Soundtrack PLUS released later with additional tracks not on the soundtrack - so I suspect you will get a Soundtrack and then another release later on with additional tracksThey did put Remake's soundtrack on Spotify, but given that this one seems to be over twice as big I do wonder if the whole thing will make it to Spotify.
Either way, I pre-ordered the soundtrack halfway through the Grasslands because I knew I needed it ASAP.
This is annoying but not entirely unexpected lolworth noting that while the Remake Soundtrack released soon after the game (believe March 29 the Rebirth soundtrack is slated for) - a Soundtrack PLUS released later with additional tracks not on the soundtrack - so I suspect you will get a Soundtrack and then another release later on with additional tracks
its definitely bigger and more varied and I think its great that they give you a big chunk, then force you onto the story and go... oh yeah there's a bit more stillJunon feels like a big step up from Grasslands so far in terms of the open world. Maybe it's because Chadley isn't interrupting me every 5 seconds (though he still talks way too much)
Also doesn't hurt that the protorelic quest is a lot better. If I never see Beck and his gang again it'll be far too soon
Finally got to Cosmo Canyon
It’s the part I’ve been most excited to see in part 2.
Hopes it’s good
You know.
.Sephiroth doesn’t need to make an appearance every time. Ruins some of the stuff happening. If there’s one I’ve heavily disliked from remake and rebirth, is the amount of time they show him.
I don't think it'll be a spoiler to say: good luck in a few chapters...Still avoiding reading this thread due to fear of spoilers (I've somehow made it this far!) but I had to post about how rage inducing some of the minigames are. I put an hour+ in each of one involving frogs, one involving soccer, and a shooting gallery one. The soccer one has some of the worst rubberbanding I've seen outside of Mario Kart. Almost lost my mind trying to beat it. Anyone else experiencing this?
Game is incredible otherwise, though.
I completely agree. Didn’t help with the slowness and the button prompts for meI felt Sephiroth was more menacing. I think his walking into the flames scene was better done in the original despite the old ass CGI. Sephiroth was mostly disinterested in Cloud and crew whenever they encountered him unlike in the remakes where he's actively toying with Cloud. I haven't beaten Rebirth yet, no where close, but based on the ending Remake, I can see why the dynamic with Sephiroth and Cloud is different in the remakes but I still prefer his portryal in the OG
Obviously haven’t beaten it. But, did they really add Cid and Vincent to tag along cause they didn’t get to be in the party with Aerith like the orignal? That’s pretty funny. Tho awkward inclusion for Vincent, which is funny cuase he’s just optional in the orginal.
you could have cid and vincent while aerith was still alive. they even appear in her death scene

I remember thinking back when it was announced that the FFVII remake would be a multi game project "that's just more chances of it being a failure", glad to see I was wrong. Top tier stuff all around.
Will also add that after struggling with this for close to an hour, after changing to Easy, I found victoryDecided to go back and finish the Junon protorelic quests before moving on to Gongaga and in case anyone else is struggling:
if you change the game difficulty to easy, the ATB bard in Fort Condor fills up super fast and you can almost spam your way to victory. Still took me three tries to beat the last one though.
I got through it fine unit the last fight. Took me like 10 tires before I got lucky. And I say luck because I didn’t know you had different options i used the default one all 4 battles lol.Decided to go back and finish the Junon protorelic quests before moving on to Gongaga and in case anyone else is struggling:

for all the complaining that happened when the demo dropped, it's weird that some areas just don't have yellow paint and kinda suffer for it. Odd!!!Hot take:
There isn’t enough yellow paint in some areas
Oh god.
Oh flippin' god.
The second third of chapter 8 almost broke me because of how the game fell into Remake's level of over padding.
You loved being forced to do at least every mini-games (except two) in the first third of the chapter ? Well joke's on you, you're forced to do at least three of them one more time, because some EVIL THUGS kidnapped your friends and are apparently completetly unable to defend themselves (yeah, non wearing armor human are way too much for Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII and Yuffie, if only they wore real bullet proof armors like the Shinra troops...).
Do NOT do the "Find the person telling the truth", you'll lose 500 Gils every time, even if you win. Or do it if you want to lose time for no reason (the right answer is never the same).
Good thing that the final part of chapter 8 was very good (well, when the cameraman isn't trying too hard to show how insane Dyne became)
Yeah, about the EVIL LAUGH, I think Heidegger is the worst.Dyne was a huge disappointment but it’s a shame that I expected them to do that route, Also, I dislike how everyone sorta evil in this game has an evil laugh.
I actually found this part (which I finished last night) really effective. In no small part because of the tonal contrast -- the cut back to Barret kneeling catatonic after the wild boss fight worked wonders for me. I think that's one of the things Final Fantasy as a whole can do really well. It's handled better (well, so far) in Rebirth (and then Palmer become the comic relief after a dramatic scene, yay... comedy after an insane man just died).
Oh god.

Oh my god. Final Fantasy VII concert!
And it’s an hour away in LA for me!
I knew it
And the funniest thing is that you can chalk a lot of that up to the team taking more than few cues from the likes of Yakuza/Like A Dragon/RGG and Monster Hunter. Big action-rpgs that (mostly) operate on a quasi-yearly schedule, but are able to keep up thanks to a good deal of asset reuse and being knowledgeable about their own engines.I think this is the result of having gameplay/engine established. As well as certain assets like character models, animations. Then you build on top of it for the next game.
I'd like to see more of this. It's iterative but it expands everything so well.
Other franchises like Pokemon and AC have been giving a bad name to iterative sequals for years now. But FF7 is showing us how amazing it can be when done well.
Reached under Junon, goddamn this is just excellent.
lmao is Red faking his deep voice? I love this so much
