if they're going the route Retro supposedly is, then there wouldn't be any difference. just get the environments up to parTo be honest, although prime is technically a 3D action game I figure the first person nature of it would be more prominent to note.
3D action implies 3rd person to me
KID ICARUS COME ON
Don’t make me choose between this and Kid IcarusMy bet is Tales of Symphonia Remake as a Switch exclusive.
I mean, Uprising technically also has "3D environments", considering the land stages and what not.I’m really struggling to think of what this could be if it’s not Kid Icarus: Uprising. Like, sure, I guess it could be Metroid Prime 2 and/or 3 (what exactly has been said about those two also being remastered, by the way?), but I feel like the use of the term “3D backgrounds” is significant here. If it was a game like Metroid Prime, I’d think that they’d call it something like “3D environments” rather than “backgrounds”, right?
that 2 and 3 could be farmed out and made to follow how retro did 1 (just revamp the graphics, leave the code alone. think the Zelda remasters)(what exactly has been said about those two also being remastered, by the way?
this might be a translation issue. and depending on who you ask, there could be no differenceIf it was a game like Metroid Prime, I’d think that they’d call it something like “3D environments” rather than “backgrounds”, right?
We probably shouldn't be ignoring the description of the background art as "deformed" (デフォルメ) in a few of those listings.
In this context the English definition is irrelevant; it'd be referring to visual style that people here would probably identify as "chibi"; characters shrunken down with the key features emphasised. Probably not Kid Icarus or Metroid in that case; could just be Wind Waker.

Wind Waker again it wouldn’t make a lot of sense when Nintendo already has a remake ‘ready’ for modern consoles. Could it be Pikmin? In this context the English definition is irrelevant; it'd be referring to visual style that people here would probably identify as "chibi"; characters shrunken down with the key features emphasised. Pikmin is the exact contrary to chibi backgrounds. Pikmin is hella realistic there.Wind Waker again it wouldn’t make a lot of sense when Nintendo already has a remake ‘ready’ for modern consoles. Could it be Pikmin?
I was thinking that it would be a remake with a Chibi aesthetic not just a remaster but ye that wouldn’t make a lot of sensePikmin is the exact contrary to chibi backgrounds. Pikmin is hella realistic there.
Perhaps they're contracting Namco to port the HD remaster of Wind Waker to Switch?
This is what came to my mind. This is 100% Kid Icarus related.
I don't think we need to be too attached to the word "deformed".We probably shouldn't be ignoring the description of the background art as "deformed" (デフォルメ) in a few of those listings.

Metroid definitely doesn't fit that description no matter how you slice it though; unless it was Federation Force (no chance lol). Prime's visuals would definitely be described as realistic; especially in comparison to your typical Nintendo game. Kid Icarus' backgrounds (not character designs) are realistic looking too, which is why I also crossed it off, but maybe that has a shot.I don't think we need to get too attached to the word "deformed".
To a Japanese person's intuition, the visuals of most Nintendo games are "deformed".
"Deformed" does not necessarily mean "chibi".
It's a remaster, then; this listing makes that clearer than the others.
Didn't we hear that Nintendo were looking for someone to remaster Prime 2 and 3? Those are 3D action games...![]()
Yes, we can definitely rule out Metroid.Metroid definitely doesn't fit that description no matter how you slice it though; unless it was Federation Force (no chance lol). Sure, but the position could be just for the flight levels, maybe.I mean, Uprising technically also has "3D environments", considering the land stages and what not.
Emily said this? And was this supposed to be inside info or just speculation? Not that it’s likely to be Metroid given the mention of a “deformed” style, anyway.that 2 and 3 could be farmed out and made to follow how retro did 1 (just revamp the graphics, leave the code alone. think the Zelda remasters)

I do understand that, thought I made that clear in saying:Yes, we can definitely rule out Metroid.
I would be grateful if you understand that "deformed" does not necessarily mean "chibi".
a visual style that people here would probably identify as "chibi"
Um, you seem angry, so sorry if I am making you feel uncomfortable.I do understand that, thought I made that clear in saying:
I didn't say it is chibi; just that people would call the examples used on the page I linked chibi.
Kid Icarus: Uprising’s backgrounds aren’t completely realistic, though. There’s a lot of fantastical design in them, so I could see that fitting the bill still.Metroid definitely doesn't fit that description no matter how you slice it though; unless it was Federation Force (no chance lol). I'm not angry, don't worry; just explaining what I meant. It's more my fault if it didn't come across properly the first timeUm, you seem angry, so sorry if I am making you feel uncomfortable.
it's timeDid someone say METROID!?
yeaEmily said this? And was this supposed to be inside info or just speculation? Not that it’s likely to be Metroid given the mention of a “deformed” style, anyway.
Bandai Namco also worked on Smash. Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart Tour, Go Vacation. Pokken Tournament and New Pokemon Snap for Nintendo so, they definitely aren't that weird of a partner for Nintendo. The largest reason they were originally selected for Prime 4 in the first place was the size of their workforce, including their overseas studiosWasn’t Bandai-Namco the rumored studio originally working on Metroid Prime 4 before Retro took over? It would be so weird if they were remastering 2 & 3. It’s like they were demoted.
Holy shit Chibi-Robo, I wouldn't be upset with that at all thoughWind Waker is the easy (and disappointing) potential solution, but I don't actually think it's that. The description would easily fit something like the DS / 3DS Zelda games (Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, A Link Between Worlds or Tri Force Heroes) or any of Skip's games (Chibi-Robo, Giftpia, Captain Rainbow).
Bandai do co-own Chibi-Robo with Nintendo... I wish that were possible.
Aww fuck, I can't believe [he's] done thismarkomaro betting on this being Chibi-Robo makes me sad; decreases the chances of it ACTUALLY being Chibi-Robo tenfold![]()
