Their competitors are using dedicated servers though . If Nintendo thinks, they can just raise the prices without quality changes, they`ll lose long term.Speaking of stellar profits: I expect Nintendo will bump their base service price in the near future to align closely with the next system launch. Their competitors get away with much higher fees for online play, after all, and it's an easy path for revenue growth.

In the announcement of a direct, they always state a small description of what the direct will look like. Perhaps they'll say "future Nintendo Switch games for 2024, and a new generation of Nintendo". Would be similar to a tweet of a new generation trailer. Although as a "one last thing" is perhaps something they don't want announce.could theoretically happen, but I'm pretty sure they'll want it to be a separate thing. You just have more impact with a trailer drop, be it at a random day in feb/march/april or pre-announced.
I don't think it looks so good for the XBox hardware salesFor Sony and Microsoft being iterative is always ok, but Nintendo needs to always innovate or it is doomed
I won't be expecting servers for their multiplayer competitive games such as Smash, Splatoon, Arms, etc. anytime soon tbh. as running and maintaining server farms for so many games will definitely be very expensive. It's why server shutdowns for old and/or dead multiplayer games make sense from a business perspective, as they're likely not making any more money off of them while still having to pay the bills to keep the servers up and running.Their competitors are using dedicated servers though . If Nintendo thinks, they can just raise the prices without quality changes, they`ll lose long term.
New article from Bloomberg about investors and analysts believing stock is overvalued for Nintendo and Switch 2 won't be able to keep up with Switch success no matter what. Also Mochi mentions on Twitter that he has no clue about Switch 2 as of now.
Interested to hear @Shareholder Chad 's opinion on this. (I tend to agree with it personally.)
Nintendo’s Record Gain Tested in Wait for ‘Switch 2’: Tech Watch
Nintendo Co.’s recent climb to a record high is looking increasingly stretched as investors wait for news on the successor to its aging Switch game console.www.bloomberg.com
I won’t give anyone investment advices, so this is purely a personal opinion: Pay little to no heed to these “predictions” or “forecasts” of stock valuation. Their main objective is to stimulate price movements either upward (pumping) or downward (fear-mongering) so that the professionals can profit by front-running retail investors. Otherwise, how do they make money when a company’s financial fundamentals largely remain stable YOY (flat stock price = no profit)? Case in point, any purportedly analyses of recent Nintendo (7974.TYO) stock performance without at least partially attributing it to the New NISA (introduced in 2024) is better not to be taken seriously.
Wasn't there a rumor of a magnesium alloy body in the past?

While i get your point, i still think games like Mario Kart, Splatoon, Smash and some of the big franchises would benefit from their own servers. These games got a active fanbase and Nintendo could maintain them about 5 to 10 years.I won't be expecting servers for their multiplayer competitive games such as Smash, Splatoon, Arms, etc. anytime soon tbh. as running and maintaining server farms for so many games will definitely be very expensive. Just raising the price without offering anything new would definitely be a dumb move for Nintendo, no doubt. A new tier is more likely to happen.
So yeah, not going to see many 1st party multiplayer games utilize servers, if at all. But i do hope Nintendo can at least start implementing rollback netcode in these types of games on the NG, because as far as i remember Sakurai himself said in one of his videos he couldn't implement it for Smash Ultimate because the hardware power wasn't there to support it.
The same was also said from some 3rd party dev that made a multiplatform fighting game that did have rollback netcode on PS & Xbox but not on Switch for the above mentioned reason. (Forgot which game and developer it was as i'm not really into this genre of games.)
In all fairness, this is what sales data has shown from their past systems. Every Nintendo home console sold less than its predecessor until the Wii, which was an innovation. The Wii U then sold significantly less than the Wii, after which the Switch found success through "innovation" once again. The handhelds followed a similar trajectory. For Sony and Microsoft being iterative is always ok, but Nintendo needs to always innovate or it is doomed
That's way too big to be the switch 2.Wasn't there a rumor of a magnesium alloy body in the past?

It was relatively recent, sometime last year i believe? While i get your point, i still think games like Mario Kart, Splatoon, Smash and some of the big franchises would benefit from their own servers. These games got a active fanbase and Nintendo could maintain them about 5 to 10 years.
Rollback Netcode for fighting games is a good idea. Maybe the game you mean, was DB FighterZ?
The symbiotic relationship between analysts, investors and stock is truly fascinating. It‘s beautiful./sInvestors seeing a car company that makes 1.3 million (poorly made) cars per year : "let's make it the biggest car company in the world in terms of valuation, that stock can never be high enough"
Investors seeing a video game company that has a shitload of cash on hand, has one of the most sold video game consoles of all time, own a lot of extremely valuable IPs, etc... : "nah, that stock is overvalued"
Innovation which sells come from software. The hardware is just there to enable it. And there were plenty of new gameplays to be had on the PS2 compared to PS1/N64. The same can't be said with the recent hardware bumps.I mean, Wii U innovated from Wii, and we know where that went.
PS2 was just a more powerful PS1, and we know where that went.
Innovation doesn't always mean sales.
Sony and MS are third party driven platforms. GTA, COD, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, Minecraft, Dark Souls, PUGB, Fortnite, etc. One publisher makes a novel game which becomes huge and attract new audiences, then the publisher play safe to retain that audience. Then another publisher comes and do the same. Then another and another. For Sony and Microsoft being iterative is always ok, but Nintendo needs to always innovate or it is doomed

I'm willing to be corrected if I'm wrong but as far I know, third party games use their own servers so you are connecting to the same servers as PS, Xbox, PC which is what allows for crossplay. It is a common misconception that online games are worse on Switch due to its "servers" (for performance sure, but servers don't have anything to do with it).I played some Apex on my switch and it was pretty cool, but with bigger online games like battlefield would Nintendo need to step up in online servers?
Playing WarFace currently on Switch and yes as far as I can tell, I’m not playing on a Nintendo server.I'm willing to be corrected if I'm wrong but as far I know, third party games use their own servers so you are connecting to the same servers as PS, Xbox, PC which is what allows for crossplay. I've been called names on r/Playstation for saying that first PS and Nintendo games are P2P and and third party games use their own servers, so we're effectively paying for nothing with online services.
If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to be corrected but so far all evidence I've seen points to what I said.
Is that true? I thought that most of their competitors servers are for P2P?Their competitors are using dedicated servers though . If Nintendo thinks, they can just raise the prices without quality changes, they`ll lose long term.
UFS 3.1 PS8325: Catering to high-end smartphones, PS8325 features TSMC's 12nm process and a dual-channel design supporting the latest 1TB NAND from various NAND manufacturers for a total capacity of 1TB. Additionally, PS8325 boasts Phison's self-developed 4KB LDPC error correction engine, providing advanced and powerful ECC error correction capabilities, significantly enhancing the stability and lifespan of smartphone storages. PS8325 has already secured design wins from many international leading smartphone manufacturers and is expected to start mass production in the first quarter of this year.
UFS 3.1 PS8329: Focuses on the mid-range smartphone market. Using a 22nm process, PS8329 is the smallest UFS 3.1 controller in the market and can PS8329 achieve read and write speeds exceeding 2000MB/s through a single-channel configuration. Additionally, the 4K LDPC ECC error correction engine provides outstanding compatibility and performance with next-generation NAND Flash. PS8329 is planned to begin sampling in June of this year.

Yup, if some of us were to believe CNBC talking heads, our CAPE ratio shows we've been overvalued since 1987 basically (in some circles, they say CAPE ratio between 10 to 15 is "good", more than 15, it's "overvalued"). If I go cash (go light on investing or stop altogether), I would have missed out on gains between 1987 and now.Every single tech company and most other companies are way overvalued according to many different metrics. The stock market no longer follows these as guidelines.
A return to the mean would be devastating for the world economy. That is how far “up” , “greedy”, and “bubble” we are. Bubbles pop but nobody knows when and it can go a lot higher before it does. So when we shareholders or stock analysts say “this stock is overvalued” well it’s saying nothing really and it’s a “no shit Sherlock” situation.
Nintendo is overvalued but that doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Indeed, Kamigami no Triforce (JP LttP) IS the best Zelda. The best Zelda was released on a console with colored buttons…
Decode, no. Encode, yeah, that's a big deal.I’m definitely late considering I’m confused as to what the shipping data implied exactly.
Also, is AV1 a pretty good deal? Or is it a fairly minor addition? I remember seeing that Nintendo is hiring for it.
Thickness can't do much, especially for an active-cooled portable device. The footprint of the SoC and heat pipe cannot have anything really layered over it aside from the panel that you use to disperse heat. And those 2 pieces dictate the minimum size you can reasonably achieve, as well. Lite's size was ultimately dictated by the necessary size of the heat pipe for portable-only use.Yeah but you could make the smaller version thicker too. Smaller width and height dimensions but thicker is better IMO instead of bigger width and height dimensions but thinner.
I just need to correct you here. The aditional hardware for docking is just a $0.5 chip that switches DP lanes to the USB connector.

I posted this before I believe, but in my mind, it'll looks like this. The Mock-up is just a headset with that 3D effect in it. There would be a slider to adjust the 3D. Knowing Nintendo, they might even add a Gyro sensor in it.
A headset is more convenient than a 3D screen on the console itself, since you won't be forced to be in handheld mode only. With the headset, you can game with this 3D effect in both handheld and docked mode.
I believe there was once a time where people thought Splatoon came to 3DS, (which obviously couldn't) and the idea of playing Splatoon in 3D made some people hyped. (this is what I read on a Dutch forum back in the day). And yes, if this could become a thing, a Splatoon with 3D effect would be possible and quite fun. Aswell as other big titles from major companies. Like, we got Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on 3DS launch, imagine Street Fighter 6 to be in the same way. Or maybe if we got our hands on Red Dead Redemption II with the 3D effect. I'd also like to see the Call of Duty series having such feature. I won't say the 3D effect is a game changer, but visually it was marvelous.

This is more in the line of what I'd like to see with a 3D headset. Notice I'd still put the 3D-slider of the 3DS in the right upper corner.
This way, people can still enjoy watching your games on your handheld or TV.
That, or just a VR headset with those glasses, without VR capabilities and just the 3D imaging, like @Kise Ryota mentioned what they did with the meta quest 3.
