StarTopic The Game Awards 2023 |ST| Tears of the Keighdom

So either Nintendo said to Third Parties that they are closed for Business or there really is something new coming next year. Both scenarios are not unlikely.

first time pyoro was wrong?
To be fair didn't the tweet say trailer and demo coming soon or something to that effect? It could easily be something Nintendo just tweets out tomorrow or next week or something. Unless I missed a follow up tweet.

it's kinda messed up that RE Village won more awards than RE4, right?

Liked last years show better, but the awards were much better awarded this year. Orchestra was great, especially the TOTK section.

yeah this was relatively good! it is still wild they can go 20+ minutes between awards and then rapid-fire like five as if they don’t matter at all lol
best thing in the show—the Thumper sequel Thrasher—was sadly relegated to the “opening act”

Alan Wake won with Herald of Darkness being performed live as far as I’m concerned. That was my favorite part of the show by far. More of that please and less kicking winners off stage in 30 seconds.

World of Goo 2, Visions of Mana, and Elphelt were my favorite announcements.

Pretty good show, one of the best overall. Light on Nintendo but that isn’t too surprising with Switch 2 coming.

And realistically I would be willing to bet that a lot of games shown off are coming to Switch 2, so it might even be a pretty good Switch show in retrospect

i didn't watch it and now I get to watch all the trailers at my leisure. this is the right way to experience a keighley show. also congrats to bg3

Finally over. Which means nothing else for the year and we can finally enjoy the holidays and then January 1st. Without fail.

Demand the Nintendo direct and switch 2 reveal

Understandable.

I hope you enjoyed your time with the show overall though.
Oh yeah. As always at the beginning it starts strong announcement wise and then it gets really boring. The preshow honestly was the highlight. Though it was fun to see so many faces of devs. I hope you enjoyed it as well.

I thought Spider Man was well loved. Didn’t get anything?
I think it is a case where Spider-Man 2 came out in a very competitive year, and while it is a great game, nothing really stood out where it should win in a category, IMO. Other years it probably walks away with one or two awards.

Spider-Man 2 is this years Horizon: Forbidden West.

Can someone please tell Square that a turn-based game won universal acclaim while also being a commercial success? Please?!
I’m sure they will take that under advisement when their universally acclaimed 2D RPG (which will win multiple awards from publications/websites) didn’t get a single nomination.

Aonuma is a better man than me becouse if I made a game like TOTK and ended up losing to a D&D game I would quit the game industry
Ok, let's play the Salty Splatoon game.

"Too bad Aonuma's is just a copy of his 2017 game, but worse".

Pass me a mic, please.

This was overall a pretty good show, to be honest. Yeah, it was too long. Yeah, some of the stuff was cringe. But there was a decent number of cool announcements and trailers, the awards mostly went to solid picks, and the cringe stuff wasn't too cringe. Would I prefer they dedicated more time to the actual awards? Sure, but that's never been what TGA is.

I got Thumper 2 in Thrasher tonight, I’m happy no matter what.

Never played it, but congrats to Baldur’s! 🎉🎉

I really don't like how Nintendo now seemingly only let's producers or representatives to the stage when receiving awards.

The awards are meaningless, are we seriously debating that? If they were serious, they would have to do this show in February/March in order not to have recency bias trump everything.

Nintendo fanboys and insulting games that aren't Nintendo. Name a more iconic duo.

Non-Nintendo fanboys and insulting games that are Nintendo.

Also I hope nobody took actual offense to any opinions I had, none of this is actually that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things and I do respect your opinions, again see everyone tomorrow.

Isn't it well known that most of the winners are from earlier in the year? Recency bias isn't really a thing with TGA

anyway congratulations to baldur's gate 3 but it already was my sister's game of the year so this is kind of meaningless
