NSO NSO Missions and Rewards

Do people think we're likely to get SMRPG icons? I've been going back and forth on this, since it might be developed in-house, but Square owning most of the game's characters might complicate things. Can't remember if there's been a similar case or not.

I'm going to go with no. IIRC since NSO Icons have started any game that had a major third party involved has gotten skipped (Three Hopes, Bayonetta 3 and Origins.)

Hope I'm wrong though, a Mallow icon would be neat.

Yeah, I was looking through past icons to see if any were in a similar situation to SMRPG, but that's not been the case. Really sad that we probably won't get icons for the game.

Since the next icons are starting November 17th, I could see it being SMRPG, but if it isn't, then it'd probably be WarioWare icons and, yknow, that's fine by me. There's already a good selection of Mario characters, as nice as the SMRPG guys would be, but Wario needs more than just some Mario Kart icons.

...or it could be more Mario Kart icons because of Wave 6.
 
Finally... the day has come. I can have my own icon with my picture on it!

@9-Volt isn't pictured there but since 18-Volt is in wave 3, he's got to be in wave 1.

Super Mario RPG is getting a Tetris 99 theme, which doesn’t directly correlate to NSO icons but could be a sign that Square is letting Nintendo do whatever they want with the renders and such for the remake. Maybe this is a stretch but it seems odd for them to sign off on Geno and Mallow appearing in the background of Tetris, but not allow them to be used for profile pics.

Also worth noting that every game that got a Tetris 99 theme since Missions and Rewards became a thing (all… four of them, wow, that’s it?!) also got icons, soooo I feel like the chances are a fair bit higher now :)

I just YouTube’d “Nintendo” and saw that first thing - this makes me so happy!

I adore that Nintendo is really putting spotlight on Super Mario RPG. I mean, it was already crazy enough the remake was announced and exists but I am seeing marketing for it and now this? And possibly NSO Icons? Yes, yes - all of my yes!

I'd like to get my hopes up, but I do notice that Monster Hunter Rise got a theme too despite being third-party. Good point about how all of the themes since Missions and Rewards were introduced have received icons though!

Wow, I guess this make Geno and Mallow the first third-party characters to get Switch icons! I assumed it would happen after the Tetris 99 crossover, but it’s still a little surreal to see those two specifically.

They wouldn’t slap a 2023 label on these if they didn’t plan on doing them again next year.

Also, Halloween icons when? I need that sweet Halloween Mario clip art as a profile icon.

He runs a Discord server about NSO and announces what icon parts have been added each wave, if you're specifically interested in updates about new ones.

There's also a 100 platinum coin reward up right now for playing F-Zero 99 (I think you just need to cross the finish line once) which I don't recall them doing with Tetris but it's been a long time since I last played that.
