Like what? Genuinely asking. Feel free to spoiler tag it. I know of a few of them but I'm just making sure I know what you mean exactly.
No bosses except Bowser Jr
[*]2 worlds with no Boss Castles
[*]framerate drops
[*]only 4 transformations that all have been revealed prior launch
[*]no post game
[*]no unlockable characters
[*]8 hours to finish the main story

Maybe it's just me but I kinda prefer this?

2D Mario bosses are always just press the big button/axe or jump on the dude's head 3 times. There's outliers, but most of them are very similar. I'll take levels with crazy Wonder effects over a boss which I jump on 3 times any day.

In practice as I play it probably won’t bother me. I guess I hyped myself up on much better bosses since it looked like Nintendo was hiding them…now I know there wasn’t really anything to hide lol

I mean if super mario wonder really takes 15 hours for a 100% completion it would be a much shorter game than new super mario bros U which clocked at like 25 hours for a 100% completion. And let’s not forget about the deluxe edition with super luigi U.
I'd be wary about comparing "Completion" hours on HLTB with anecdotal experience of how long it took to do the game's main campaign + postgame. NSMBUDX has a lot of content to comb through in order to consider it "100%".

I’ve never been dissatisfied with my completion of a 2D Mario game so I really don’t care what other people say on this aspect. I know I’ll happy with the length of this game.

If a reviewer actually does something like that, then it's difficult for me to take that review seriously, particularly considering it's very within norms compared to other 2D Mario games.

That's why I prefer to look at OpenCritic and MetaCritic in combination. Two sets of aggregated review scores. For the most part that has worked well for me so far (I tend to stick to buying games with 85 or above on OpenCritic)
It’s up to you which reviews you want to take seriously and which you want to ignore. All I’m saying is that the score could be a bit lower than people expect because of the shorter length, that’s all.

there's also all the side mode challenges with the medals and U Deluxe has Luigi U built into the game, so it will be longer even if the normal length of Mario U is on par-ish.

How would you rank it in comparison to other 2D Mario games? And what do you think it'll score?

I rate it 8.5/10, I think it will do 85-92 on Meta because it's Mario and a great fun game with a lot of good ideas, but it will keep you busy for a weekend and then you'll move on with your life, I found it a bit frustrating

Also 90% of the game is quite easy and the
special world is insanely hard

i find it quite ironic that this forum of all places is where im seeing the most skepticism of this game now. that being said I don't use twitter and the like much anymore but even subreddits talking about the leaked content seem pretty excited.

I know somebody who played the game.
He's got over 30 hours on it, and he still hasn't gotten to concluding the final-final level, in fact he kinda has stopped for now (it's very hard), even an easy mode character doesn't get him to finish it, but as far as the rest of the completionism stuff (bar standees) goes... around a good 25 hours or more

Glad I clicked out of this thread before I saw the broken spoiler, and I think it's about high time I bounce outta here until I actually get to play the game.

Hope the game is a new 2D Mario high bar!

it's always the same song and dance when a game leaks early hence why I wouldn't rely on that stuff to determine the critical reception.

Hold on so..

They created all these new enemies and yet they couldn’t make a single new one for a boss? That’s seriously disappointing.

Yeah that's a bit disappointing,
and not even in all worlds as well, always the same fight with a slight twist, I read before that King Boo was a Boss Fight but that's not true, he is just chasing you briefly during a Wonder effect

Yeah that’s why always find funny whenever someone says that “Nintendo fans would love everything with mario or zelda in the title” when in reality Nintendo hardcore fans are probably the most nitpicky and pessimistic fans ever who blow out of proportion every thing before the game even releases.

I'm expecting a 92/93, I think this will enter the pantheon of 2D Mario games next to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.

I think it’s a great game but I also think it’s just an entree before the main dish on the next gen, it’s giving Spider Man Miles Morales vibe
that's the most ridiculous and preposterous comparison I have ever seen on this site, so congratulations on that

sounds like Mario 3

Why ? It’s a great game with good ideas but too short and lacking in content hence the comparison
and why should i take your word for it, you constantly make stuff up in other threads, and 25-30 to 100% is plenty of time for a $60 2d platformer

Why are people concerned about the amount of content in this game? How long do people expect a 2D Mario game to be?
We're not getting high quality 2D platformers from ANYONE these days so we want the only one we get to be jam packed with content.

But thanks to all those collectibles, this is the one that'll keep us occupied for tens of hours for sure.

It’s not 25-30h for 100%

It’s 12-15

Don’t take my word for it if you don’t want check the link below

That’s what I’ve seen, yes. Whether that’ll hold for the majority or not is unknown, but Wonder seems to be pretty similar in length to other modern 2D Mario games.
Thank you for the info!

really linked a "how long to beat" page for a game that hasn't even been released to the wide public yet, also the "completed" is based only on 1 person polled

Interesting.

15 hours being shown as average currently for "completionist" on HLTB vs 25 hours is quite a difference.

I suspect anyone who's able to access the full game like RIGHT NOW somehow (ie: being sold an early copy of game from someone who works at Walmart for example) would tend to be a more accomplished gamer than Joe Average's who buys SMW the normal usual way, those submitting will eventually push the 15 hours HLTB completionist figure higher, making the average more representative of SMW community as a whole.

Are you trolling. One person completed it doesn’t speak for the 25 million people that will play the game.

I mean saying this is just a disservice to the Miles game which is also great. Miles and MW can be smaller experiences while still being full games.

The guy actually played the game unlike most of us and has their opinion, so it's fair.
You don’t know he played the game. You defending someone who loves to make stuff up. Mario Wonder isn’t a smaller experience. It’s not a $30-$40 game.

It is. I played the game and I finished it in 8 hours, and I’m 90% at 12-13 hours so it’s legit. And that’s without rushing or playing all day, since I played co-op with my girl with not high skills playing Nabbit
