Lauren Mayberry is doing solo music now?! Per The Google, this dropped on September 1 so at least I’m not that far out of the loop. I’ve been a CHVRCHES fan for a long time so I’m elated about this news.

She is! The announcement was mid-July, but it took a bit longer than planned for this first single to drop. She's now touring, first in the US (including support slots with Death Cab for Cutie) then Europe in October. Note that Are You Awake? isn't representative of most of what she's going to be putting out, nor is she trying to emulate CHVRCHES' sound. You can see fan videos from her first headline show on YouTube, for example here:

I know that Kanye has done a lot of dumb shit to say the least and it’s funny to clown on him a lot of places, but honestly it just makes me sad. I just can’t clown on someone with severe bipolar disorder. Here’s to better times Ye. Also, fantastic video. (Naughty words, of course.)
 


Been listening to this record a ton lately. It's a punk rock/hip hop hybrid project with Fat Mike from NOFX and some others. Very cool stuff, every song on the album is a different mix of the two and has a bunch of guest stars, just a really interesting thing that bangs.
