That’s interesting. Guess it’s a general Metropolitan Tour next, and then something big for the Anniversary Tour after that.

Madrid being next would fit with how the devs announced a 3-tour summer event. Usually the 3rd tour in such an event has a big showcase track so it wouldve been weird if they made the finale a filler tour.

The question now is what do they do for the Tour on September 6th? Will it just be filler or do they have something special planned. We can surmise September 20th is the 4th anniversary and the final new tour for the game since we still need the tracks Athens 3, Rome 3, and Madrid 3.

September 6th Tour will probably be a rerun of Sky High Sundae

KoopaV decided to drop more details about the upcoming tour!
The Madrid track is called: Madrid Drive
The Mario alt is the black suit (pictured):

Black Suit Mario is ID48 which finally fills in the earliest possible ID gap in the game that has data for it so yeah it was basically one of the first alts made for the game several years ago but only just releasing now.
He also provided crops of 2 images of the course:

I know the full Madrid trailer for Tour is imminent but there's always room for some 8DX speculation first. The Switch news feed is already starting to cover the Wave 5 tracks; the Japanese post for Athens going up today. For the last few waves, the full trailer for the following wave dropped within a week or so of the final track from the preceeding wave being covered. Wave 4's timing, for reference:

JP:US:
Tour Amsterdam Drift - May 12th
GBA Riverside Park - May 19th
Wii DK Summit - May 26th
Yoshi's Island - June 2nd
Tour Bangkok Rush - June 9th
DS Mario Circuit - June 16th
GCN Waluigi Stadium - June 23rd
Tour Singapore Speedway - June 30th
Wave 5 Full Trailer - July 7th
Amsterdam Drift + Riverside Park - June 17th
DK Summit + Yoshi's Island - June 21st
Bangkok Rush + Mario Circuit - June 28th
Waluigi Stadium + Singapore Speedway - July 7th

So with Athens starting today, here's what we could be looking at:

Tour Athens Dash - August 18th
GCN Daisy Cruister - August 25th
Wii Moonview Highway - September 1st
Squeaky Clean Sprint - September 8th
Tour Los Angeles Laps - September 15th
GBA Sunset Wilds - September 22nd
Wii Koopa Cape - September 29th
Tour Vancouver Velocity - October 6th
Wave 6 Full Trailer - October 13th (?)

The first step to the final MK8D wave DLC so we can get a move onto the next console MK.

That Madrid music sounds great.

Track looks like it could pose a decent challenge with some tight roads, the architecture looks cool, and the music sounds great and has amazing potential for a MK8DX arrangement.

Only issue with this timeline is that, assuming the release date is a week after the trailer, we’d be getting Wave 6 a mere 1-2 days before Wonder. Odds of that happening are pretty much nonexistent.

Could be a two week gap between reveal and release like Wave 3, I suppose.

Prediction of wave 6 tracks with percentage :

Madrid (99,99% safe)
Rome (99,99%)
Piranha Plant Cove (99,99%)
Piranha Plant Pipeline (99,99%)
SNES Bowser's Castle 3 (90%)
GCN DK Mountain (80%) OR GCN Dino Dino Jungle (20%)
Wii Rainbow Road (90%)
NGC Mushroom Bridge (50%) or something else (50%)

Torrijas Churros.

As a Spaniard, I laughed a lot.

There's a Tablao, too. Surprised they didn't throw in a Mercadona.

I'm trying to mentally reconcile the very Madrid looking track with the very Andalusian sounding music and drawing a blank over here lol

Madrid looks rad! Looking forward to it! Wild to think we are roughly 4 weeks away at most from our first Wave 6 tease too. Going to be sad to see GAAS Mario Kart wind down for a good while. These past two years were awesome especially discussing all the fun stuff with everyone here together.

They really went out on a bang with the music at least. Madrid gets three variants between the regular theme, Stadium variant (in Madrid 1) and Museum variant (to be used in Madrid 3).

Seems like Nintendo will soon address the future of Mario Kart Tour very soon, take this news article title how you will...

Damn, so this really is the last track! Other than variants of course. The news article will probably release next week on Wednesday.

The music to Madrid Drive already goes pretty hard, so now I'm already waiting to hear the high(er) fidelity version in the Switch game.

Estimating what the minimap will look like, with the red (most likely) being Madrid 3. All of these routes work both ways fairly well in both directions, and there isn't really any notable shortcuts that would warrant one direction over the other, so the route is a tossup. They could even change the direction around if they want, although I think they'll just keep it simple.

Tick tock.

Sorry for the delay on this one; though there isn't much to be surprised about here.

Since Madrid Drive is more than likely Tour's final new course (with a slight chance for RMX Vanilla Lake 2 next Tour), I may as well update the overall course summary image; possibly for the penultimate time (i'll be sure to make one final version when Wave 6 launches!). The scrapped courses section probably isn't too accurate anymore between the use of the note block object and the high liklihood of the extra mob tracks simply being alternate names for tracks that did make it in, but i'll leave it as-is for now.

As we have now entered September and the countdown to the fabled September Direct ticks down, I want to spark a discussion about what parts of BCP Wave 6 will Nintendo show in the direct? I'll start:

I think it will be a teaser like every other time the pass has been shown off in a direct and it will show Piranha Plant Cove as the featured track of the teaser, along with Diddy Kong and Pauline as the final two characters of the pass.
However, I have hope there will be a big surprise for Wave 6, and that surprise will be: Character alts! If character alts do become a thing, I think some existing characters get merged such as Tanooki Mario merged with Mario (this actually works even if the stats are different because the Villagers in Wii U MK8 were alts with different stats to eachother) which then means more character slots will be filled and we get Funky Kong, Nabbit (tie in to Wonder), Hammer Bro (with fire and boomerang alts) etc. And the main cast get their Tour alts!
If there are no alts, just stick with Pauline and Diddy.

I am interested in what anyone else thinks they could show in a September Direct.

I also think we'll see a teaser with just one or two tracks and the characters, Piranha Plant Cove would be a good choice indeed !
The only hope I have for a surprise is for a few vehicle parts, and possibly Paratroopa as a Koopa skin, if he finally makes it onto Tour. But I don't think we'll have any more characters than the two missing, and eventually Paratroopa as a bonus.

It really is just about the end of an era, it'll truly be the end of an era when Wave 6 drops. From that point onwards, it's next gen Mario Kart time.

The only hope I have for a surprise is for a few vehicle parts
This is the only other thing I want from BCP at this point. Well that and a “Random” option for characters and karts selection.

Really don’t get why they would be putting effort into re-balancing the game if they weren’t going to be adding more parts in addition to the characters.

The Battle Tour is interesting. One more retro battle map would bring the count up to 4, a nice even number that would slide in very nicely to MK8D.

Not really expecting it, but it’d be a nice surprise to close things out.

It has since been made more clear in other localisations of the news article that the Anniversary Tour is the final tour with new content and the Battle Tour is the first one recycling old content.

KoopaV has leaked the contents of the Anniversary Tour (final Tour with new content):

Courses:
Athens Dash 3
Madrid Drive 3
Rome Avanti 3
Sydney Sprint 3 R/T
Berlin Byways 3 R/T

Karts:
Royal Kart (brand new)
Gold Royal Kart
Gold B-Dasher

Gliders:
Rainbow Silver Bells
Gold Mario's Hat
Playing Cards Glider (brand new)

EDIT: At least Tour's nitro tracks ended on a banger:
