My wild prediction: Zelda will be the Xenoblade 2 of 2022 where Nintendo keeps saying it's coming out in 2022 but many will keep insisting that it's not, only for the game to actually be released in 2022 like Nintendo said it would. Like for every presentation where Zelda doesn't get an exact release date, people will say that's proof that it's not coming out this year and only when the discourse has reached its maximum insanity will Nintendo finally announced the definitive release date.
The sicko in me wants this to happen because of the madness that will ensue.
yes, actually. there are rumors of a casual game that even contacts at Nintendo think is a "stinker" (confirmed not a pun, the game just sucks). it doesn't have Wario but a horse person might show up. that's all we know.

What’s this about "Everybody" being in the title of Stinker Horseperson?

edit: nvm found the post
Emily also said we have actually correctly guessed what the game is, so now we just need to fit "everybody" into an Amiibo Festival sequel game.

Animal Crossing: Everybody Buy This Goddamn Spin-Off Or Else

Pikmin is kind of like DK where Nintendo is making an unusually large push for it in recent years even though no new game has been released for a while.

Wonder how much a hypothetical Amiibo festival would lean on the titular amiibo? It feels like Nintendo has been playing down the amiibo effective usage during the Switch era.

Here‘s a very accurate list that defintely won‘t be completely wrong.

March: Triangle Strategy
April: Advance Wars, Kirby
May: Animal Crossing party game (NDcube is defintiely working on something else)
June: Tomodachi Life, Xenoblade 3 (this will depend on whether it shows up in February)
July: Splatoon 3
August: Bayonetta 3
September: Fire Emblem, Arceus DLC
October: Metroid Prime Remake/Trilogy/Whatever, 2D Mario
November: BotW 2

Was tempted to add Donkey Kong and Rhythm Heaven just based on how long certain leads have been gone, but one is just a rumour likely based on that Tokyo 2D job and the other is probably dependent on Tsunku.

Also I think there’s a good chance that we’ll at least see Grezzo’s new game.

I've just accidentally purchased a non-English game on the UK eShop. It was a visual novel I've had on my wishlist that went on sale for the first time. The description is in English, and the trailer has English subs... And to top it off I read a review of the English localisation for PC before I purchased. Admittedly, the box where it says supported languages only lists Japanese and Chinese... But I didn't even think to check...

What are my chances of getting a refund?

I'm in bed so will give it a shot after work tomorrow as I need my console's serial number to contact Nintendo.

Can't believe this game is on the European eShop without a bold warning it is not in English or any other European language. Oh my days.

The game in question is: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Christmas-Tina-2005016.html

If anyone is interested in the title you can buy it in English from Manga Gamer.

I would be extremely surprised if they didn't give you a refund for that.

Which specific Rhythm Heaven leads have been absent?

What I prefer about Astral Chain compared to Scarlet Nexus is how the characters feel. There's more heft or weight to the movement. SN feels rather ... flimsy? to me at least.
+1 because the heft and feel of the character movement is one of my favourite things about Astral Chain

It feels so RIGHT

I'm curious if Nintendo's going to continue Astral Chain. I sure would love to have a sequel of some sort.

Though i wonder if, in the case they greenlight a new game, they would contract P* again after they seemingly "traded" Astral Chain for P* total ownership over W101.
Technically, they're free to go to whatever dev they like, or even make it an in-house project.

Platinum seem to have a lot on their plate (maybe too much?), but I think that, with a game like that, it exists because of the partnership with a particular developer. My guess is making a sequel would mean Nintendo want to involve Platinum as their first preference, because they're both part of the original effort and it means Nintendo don't have to either use more of their own internal staff or find a new developer for it. Sure, Nintendo do have the freedom to do that. But, creatively and logistically, is that a desirable scenario?

We can see with how some series lay dormant without a fixed developer that the latter scenario might not be very desirable from Nintendo's perspective: it just increases the work involved in creating a game that isn't going to be a big seller. If Platinum and Nintendo are both up for it, though, I think a sequel happens. I certainly hope it does, anyway.

The Astral Chain talk makes me want to replay the game but I do not have time for that, ugh.

I'm also in the camp that thinks Taura should helm a potential sequel / new game ... but yeah it feels like P* is too stuffed for it's own good and also locked in less-than-good-working-out projects like Babylons Fall.

After Other M, Dissidia NT, and MUA3, I rather Team Ninja stay far away from making direct sequels to another company's game.

The Assistant Director and Program Director, I think. One of them got a special thanks in Brain Training.

The director was also credited in an unknown capacity on Brain Training, but even that was two years ago.

Right; Masami Yone was credited under Nintendo staff on Brain Training while Takafumi Masaoka got a special thanks on the same game. Takumi Hatakeyama hasn't been credited on anything since Megamix.

...for some reason Nintendo Wiki's pages are already crediting the former two for Big Brain Academy, but that doesn't sound right to me. I don't think the demo even has credits.

EDIT: ... well would you look at that, the demo does have credits; and they're both included (more than just a special tahnks for Masaoka this time too).

Completely random prediction since it's being talked about in the thread rn: I think Pikmin 4 will be revealed at next year's E3 and released sometime in 2023. I feel like Nintendo'll try to put a pretty decent budget into this game, especially after Pikmin 3 Deluxe's success. I'm really curious what it'll look like in terms of visuals, and presentation and production values in general. I get the feeling that Nintendo wants Pikmin to become a mainstay 2m+ (or more) selling IP that gets new games more frequently--especially considering how popular it is in Japan. Just my gut feeling.
Series also hit its 20th birthday a few weeks ago. I think the only thing they did to commemorate it was Bloom. Given COVID I wouldn’t be surprised if they were hoping to finally get Pikmin 4 out this year but it had to be left in the oven longer.

Ah, I missed that, thanks.

Looks like Rhythm Heaven might be a ways off then.

It's unfortunate but not totally surprising; Tsunku tweeted about wanting a Switch installment to happen again earlier this year when the series' 15 anniversary hit. Pretty good sign that he wasn't actively working on one; but hopefully that changes soon!

Hopeful for Tomodachi next year at least when it comes to EPD 7 titles making a comeback.

It's a shame that Mega Mix was never ported to Switch but it also gives me some naive hope that they want the series' first outing on the Switch to be with an original title. They didn't port any of the 2017/2018 3DS remakes/remasters/collections either, instead we got Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem Three Houses, WarioWare Get it Together and Metroid Dread. Surely they will do the same for Rhythm Heaven.

It SHOULD be about time for a new Style Savvy / Style Boutique / Girls Mode; in late 2020 Syn Sophia opened up recruitment for a project with a job description that matches the series perfectly.

Bring it on.

Everyone keeps talking about style savvy and it's making me really excited to try it. I hope they do make one!

I've never played Style Savvy but that Ring! Dong! Dang! song in Smash is incredible.

Come to Final Destination no items if you want your ass kicked everybody ring dong dang.

Style Savvy is legit. I dated someone who was into that series and it has a very satisfying game loop, especially if you find dressing up characters in RPGs enjoyable. Serious props to Nintendo for continuing to fund them.

Also it's still weird we haven't seen NintenDogs on Switch or mobile yet.

If this isn't an Bomberman Act Zero style revival, someone is fucking up.
But why would anyone want that?

Good morning folks! How’s everyone doing?
Pissed at myself for breaking my phone screen last night. It wouldn't charge wirelessly anymore with the case I had so instead of getting a new, thinner case I just lazily stopped using a case.

Nintendogs for mobile makes way too much sense. With EPD8 developing a shitty mobile game, they presumably know mobile development pretty well, too. I imagine that we might see mobile Nintendogs sometime next year.

Daaaamn that sucks. I hope the repair isn’t too expensive?

can’t help but read EPD8 as EP Date. They should make a dating sim

I was browsing twitter (against my better judgement), when I came across this post.

And the thought hit me; If Ubisoft were ever to do anything with Rayman again, I want David Soliani and his team at Ubisoft Milan to be the ones to head it. David even has prior experience with the series, having working on Rayman for the Game Boy Color (a surprisingly great port of the original Rayman). After Mario+Rabbids 2, could we please give these guys a Rayman game? That way we can condense everything I like at Ubisoft into one branch of the company so I can ignore the rest of Ubisoft?

Don't want to imagine what a sad husk of the original this could be.

Now that I think about it, I'm a bit surprised that they didn't get Niantic to make a Nintendogs game.

see like I don't want to imagine what a sad husk of the original a Switch game would be

no camera, no microphone, a touchscreen only half the time

Nintendogs was made for mobile, and unlike Mario Kart Tour which simply isn't fun because it doesn't have real controls or handling, Nintendogs doesn't need good controls to be good

I do think Nintendogs is probably better suited to mobile than it is Switch, I just don't know if it would stand out in the masses of similar mobile games. Nintendo would bring some eyes to it for sure, as would the Nintendogs branding, but mobile is a difficult market.

man, I really like video games. I've been playing video games since the late 80s and it's the most consistent thing I've been doing in my whole life.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think either platform is suited for a new entry. Mario Kart Tour isn't just a bad game because of its controls, it also has terrible gacha/F2P on top of that.

Walk both your real dog and your virtual dog at the same time!

As an owner of two lazy ass cats I feel very discriminated against.

Nintendo should make a dating sim because let’s be real: the current dating sim landscape sucks because everyone just keeps making stupid joke dating sims. Nintendo would probably approach the genre with the level of sincerity it warrants.

Also god damn it Konami should finally localize Tokimeki Memorial

The one good thing about Tour is that there's a good chance of Nintendo implementing reverse tracks in future titles.
