more like late life sales than any hint at new hardware. people who are just jumping in now are people who only buy when things are cheaper, and since the hardware isn't cheaper, Nintendo has to make that up with software salesA lot of notable first-party Nintendo games hitting their lowest price ever across multiple retailers. Not sure if it means anything but interesting nonetheless.
Welp, they got me to finally buy NSMBUmore like late life sales than any hint at new hardware. people who are just jumping in now are people who only buy when things are cheaper, and since the hardware isn't cheaper, Nintendo has to make that up with software sales
This further cements the idea the Selects line is probably dead going forwardA lot of notable first-party Nintendo games hitting their lowest price ever across multiple retailers. Not sure if it means anything but interesting nonetheless.
FINALLY! someone who isn't a coward! why is it so hard for people to test ray tracing anything? "muh low performance!" "muh amd isn't good at rt!"
720p, medium settings, normal (half-res, or 509p) ray tracing
gets about 40fps in the 25W mode. ME:EE is a game I can see showing up day one for Drake, and would make for a good technical demonstration. Nvidia would probably push for it too. Xbox Series S plays the game at dynamic 540p and 60fps, medium settings equivalent
they should do a "Nintendo Selects Seasonal Sale" with select games getting a bigger discount than usual. more hardcore games, specifically, like Astral Chain, Fire Emblem, etc
I've said this before to a different question, but Re Fantazio, please. Though, that's assuming we're talking about day and date releases and that Redrakted NG releases in the fall.In a desperate attempt to discuss anything other than BC what multiplats do people expect might release in 2024 for Switch NG (assuming the hardware itself releases in 2024).
(Apologies if this isn't valid discussion for this thread, I know this is supposed to be focused on hardware and technology, but we have no new info and are going around in circles on that front, so hopefully it's OK to discuss this briefly until we get any new hardware/technology rumours/info?
Plus, this discussion will probably invite technology discussion with regard to the feesibility and ease of developing certain ports, especially compared to Switch 1, but also compared to PS4 and Xbone, so i actually think it counts. Let me know if not!)
I think the dream is Star Wars Outlaws. It would set a great precedent moving forward and is such a big IP I'm sure it would sell very well.
I could imagine a late AC mirage port if the console releases in H1. We've had many AC games on Switch.
Hogwarts legacy could get an enhanced port too since it sold so well on existing platforms.
No doubt fortnite will be there day 1 at 60fps this time.
I think the new Atlus game might make it, Metaphor something I can't remember exactly. Although their decision to ignore Switch 1 with persona 3 is truly baffling.
I bet Cyberpunk would be possible but given how badly it ran on PS4 and Xbone they might not think its worth the struggle? Do we know where the bottlenecks were for Cyberpunk on last gen? And if so, do we know if Drake will likely address them?
They probably should just extend their sales offerings in general to include most 1st party games. But this isn’t a bad idea.they should do a "Nintendo Selects Seasonal Sale" with select games getting a bigger discount than usual. more hardcore games, specifically, like Astral Chain, Fire Emblem, etc
Since Furukawa is a businessman they would be foolish to lower prices permanently on multiple fronts. We are at the end of the line, it is time Nintendo finally does a discount greater than 20% for once. Sometimes it's 30%, rare, but they do need to tone down the pricing on some of the older titles already. They have milked them quite thoroughly.

It's a gaming device, first and foremost, so I don't see them competing with Apple. But then they will dive into the red ocean. If they compete directly against Apple they'll be crush.
I'd really prefer them to stick to what they are doing extremely well, gaming. They're not big enough to spread too thin.
I wouldn't mind some web browsing tho.
Not only did these start before Prime Day (and July Sales were a thing LONG before Amazon was.), but they're bigger discounts than ever and present even in regions without Amazon (Like Ireland, there is no Amazon.ie).Before you're getting all flustered up by the discounts, you know it's Prime Day(s)?
This might just be a case of "Well shit, if Amazon has discounts, we gotta have them too" situation.
The capabilities of a console with the mass appeal of an Apple Device is something Nintendo has been doing for decades. Wii, DSi, New Nintendo 3DS, Switch. It's a gaming device, first and foremost, so I don't see them competing with Apple.
You can see it on the video. It's using ~38W for the entire system. Battery life would be roughly 1 hour.Only question is, how is the battery?
This is how I feel after you said that.Don't worry, they emulate the PS3 and call that console "retro" these days. Makes me feel old that's considered "retro."
Retro would be the SNES and that little machine that could has games that put some present day AAA titles to shame.
I think you're crossing some wires.
-The backwards compatibility discourse is basically because MVG sees a hurdle that could hinder backwards compatibility and discussion spiraled on whether backwards compatibility can still happen on the next system resolving problems in time for launch.
As for Wii U, there were incidents of consumers buying Wii U games for the Wii not knowing they had to buy a new console to play said version of the games, which served as a cautionary tale about how to name a console successor. I'm not saying they shouldn't re-use the Switch name, I'm just saying it might not work so great for them.
Most Nintendo devs can do this. Most will. Hell, Camelot made a huge-ass leap from gcn to wii u despite their tiny size
Regarding BC I’ve got no idea on the technical side of things, but looking at how Nintendo has operated in the last few years it feels like they’re planting a flag in the ground and there won’t be another “reset” like there was when moving on from Virtual Console.
We’ve went from one Pikmin game on Switch to the entire mainline series being available. Metroid Prime could be similar after another direct or two. It really feels like they’re building up a library rather than solely cashing in on ports.
- NES -> N64 library lives on Nintendo Online
- Gameboy lives on Nintendo Online
- GameCube / Wii / Wii U ports will be purchasable through eShop and physical copies.
- Remakes and Deluxe editions of any generation will be purchasable through eShop and physical copies.
The only missing systems are DS and 3DS, which are difficult for obvious reasons. Maybe there’d be a way to attach the joycons to the top and bottom of the switch 2 screen through an attachment? Seems like a lot of work and hassle when they could just decide to work on Switch 2 specific versions of these games though.
I thought about this for a while a few months ago and the issues are
1. Not sure how expensive these chips are but they might be fairly expensive
2. 5G usage seems to burn through the battery pretty quickly
And the most important one by far
3. If people don't have access to WiFi while gaming on their Switch... They probably have their phone with them and their phone should have 5G
I'm just not sure how beneficial the Switch 2 having built in 5G would be relative to people just using their 5G phone as a WiFi hotspot from the Switch 2.
Assuming that Microsoft and Activision plan to make Call of Duty a cross-gen game for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo's new hardware, I do wonder if Microsoft and Activision plan to develop a Nintendo Switch specific Call of Duty.
Ouch, that’s rough! You can see it on the video. It's using ~38W for the entire system. Battery life would be roughly 1 hour.
Jeff Grubb now expects a holiday 2024 release. Doesn't give any hint that his speculation is informed by any sources, so I'm assuming it's his own speculation.

Can you actually do that? How does online gaming go on Switch when you use a phone as a 5G hotspot
Master Chief and Ghost locked for SSB RedI'm just waiting right now for Super Call of Duty Bros.
Can you actually do that?
according to Emily, Nintendo wants to continue Golden Sun, but Camelot is small and has more lucrative projects on their table. they'll probably outsource it to an external studio with Camelot oversight for 1+2 remake. maybe add a Dark Dawn epilogue so they can go straight into GS4Speaking of which, where in the hell is Golden Sun?!
All I want from Nintendo/Camelot is really just a remaster/remake ala 2D-HD of the first two games, and turn it into one game like the developers originally intended. Lost Age was only its own game last I recall because the GBA carts were not large enough to contain everything. That, and wouldn't be surprised if it gave them a reason to expand the story, and gameplay elements a bit more.
Dark Dawn I have never played, though I do own it, and many have said it ends on a cliffhanger, so we should eventually get a new title.

yes. all you're doing is connecting to a hotspotCan you actually do that?
January 1st, 2024.Whats your deadline for abandoning team 2023?
That's commitment.January 1st, 2024.
January 1st, 2024.

Me and my homies don't use "Yeahs", just "Yahahas".I yeah'd this and un-yeah'd so that I could yeah it again.

if GS 1+2 doesn't happen, I think we're more likely to see a reboot of Golden Sun rather than a straight up sequel. two retro games and an unavailable third game would put people off from a story-based seriesA golden sun 4 is more likely to happen than a 1+2 remake.
Golden Sun 1 and 2 are coming to GBA NSO.
Camelot had updated their site in last year with a lot of golden sun artwork and they have jobs open for designers and planners.
Camelot had worked with external studios in Tennis Aces and Golf Super Rush.
Whats your deadline for abandoning team 2023?
either a port of older CoD or a port of CoD Warzone mobile
Which retailers are doing the discounts? I'm in Ireland, but I usually pick up most games digitally. The only two places I ever really bought from before wee GameStop (which is now gone) and Smyths. I might have a look and see if anything catches my eye.Irish retailers have begun to join the Switch games sale/stock clearing, with discounts of up to 40% on Nintendo published titles.
First thing that caught my eye was Bayonetta 3 at Smyths down to 35€.Which retailers are doing the discounts? I'm in Ireland, but I usually pick up most games digitally. Same with Yoshi
I’m sure there’s plenty of people who would never bite at full price … but would at $29 or $19
There’s more than a few titles I held off on for sure
Me and my homies don't use "Yeahs", just "Yahahas".
Sorry, I may have stoked some expectations with this post last week.Out of curiosity - where has this theory about this week emerged from? Or is it just a threshold for some of the 2023 believers?
