There is a screenshot though:It’s weird that there’s no footage of the oil fields in the video of LA Laps.

It's cool they added the boost rings with item boxes. Gonna make the glider route more tempting. There is a screenshot though:
Excited for finally more new characters. While they are not really 'important' like tracks, I like the variety.
I am the most excited for finally a new MK tho. MK8 is great but I am excited for it to be 'done' so we can eventually get a brand new one.
I'll gladly take a smaller Track Selection for starters, if it means a new 'feel' of MK once more. With new character models, assets, vehicles, gimmicks, voice lines, Battle Mode, etc.
But yeah, excited for this batch, tho I just... don't like the Tour City tracks, they are so visually confusing compared to more normal MK tracks.
That's great to hear! Have you seen the slightly extended gameplay footage with the music? Here's the video:As a Greek seeing Athens in Mario Kart is simply mindblowing. I don't even care about being a Tour course, it still feels like a dream.
ChilllllllI'm honestly not looking forward to being restricted to like 32 tracks again.
I really hope they pull off a SSBU and bring back all 96 tracks with a new coat of paint + 32 new tracks. Charge us 70 dollars for it, I don't care. Considering how much that game could sell being a follow up to MK8, I'd say it's fair.
It is understandable, new games having notable less content is a big negative for many.I'm honestly not looking forward to being restricted to like 32 tracks again.

I don't play Tour, but I'd watched one or two variations of Los Angeles on YouTube when it arrived and it was the one I wanted to play the most at first hahaI hear ya on the city tracks. Do you play Tour? If not, I promise you that Athens, LA, and Vancouver are all bangers. In their own ways they also feel less like traditional city tracks. Athens is almost entirely around the ruins of the Acropolis, LA is largely by the beach and oil fields, and Vancouver leaves the downtown core for the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Stanley Park's Lost Lagoon.
I think the next Mario Kart game is sure to sell very well, it will be more than 10 years since we've had a new one. A game with a new artistic direction and new ideas (new character models, new animations, new modes, new items, new driving gimmicks...) will be far enough away from MK8D to be appealing, it will not need to be excessive in terms of initial content. What would you guys think of the next MK being sort've like Lego 2K Drive? So like an open world/zone game with a bunch of set races and then missions in the vain of the DS. I really don't know how they could do an iteration on 8D without it feeling a bit disappointing (unless it at least matched the number of tracks), and that would be the best way to make it stand out imo. Even with more powerful hardware, I don't know how you get more graphically impressive than what we have now.
Going from the screenshot I sent earlier today which actually contains another finish line and a set of the holographic chevrons and the footage we have for Los Angeles Laps, I have determined the route the track will take:
Red - Section 1 (Los Angeles Laps 1)
Green - Section 2 (Los Angeles Laps 3)
Blue - Section 3 (Los Angeles Laps 2)
Essentially this video:
there's just not that many routes in LA Laps for them to overlap and still cover all 3 major areas, unless this is going to be a 10 minute trackThat seems like very little overlap compared to the other Tour tracks.
That's just the nature of LA Laps as in Tour, each variant starts in a different location to each other and each cover a pretty separated area of the track so there isn't much overlap across all of the variants. That seems like very little overlap compared to the other Tour tracks.

That's super helpful thanks! I understand dataminers have been furiously digging to see if any file changes happened with the system update todayJust to help put into perspective how close Tour is to wrapping up new content, and since I was explaining it somewhere else earlier, here's a list of all 28 unreleased Driver IDs; the 10 that appear to be unused and the 18 that do have data prepared for use:

So in the end there's not too many drivers that are left to release:
This week's update and the Pipe Tour are really the final chances for this to change, and for Tour to suddenly get a new stock of upcoming content again, but it's looking increasingly more and more unlikely that this will be the case.
- 1 Normal Driver (Paratroopa?)
- 3 Super Drivers (Yellow Yoshi, Green Birdo, Purple Pit-Crew Toad)
- 6 High-End Drivers (Wiggler, Cowgirl Pauline, Madrid Alt, ???, ???, ???)
- 8 Mii Racing Suits (Wiggler, Toadette, Wendy, Light-Blue, Orange, ???, ???, ???)
Coming soon....Tour update released. No notable datamining thus far; but on the surface the only notable changes are nerfing the best special items (coin box, mushroom cannon, boomerang) in multiplayer.
There's a possibility that Moonview Highway IS the surprise retro track and Mushroom Bridge was kept, but I'm hoping not. I'm predicting DS Luigi's Mansion. It's iconic, there's a lack of DS tracks in the BCP, it's in Tour, it doesn't conflict with anything else in Wave 6 like a Bowser Castle or Airship Fortress would, and there's a Luigi's Mansion game releasing next year. The interesting part about minimal ID changes is the fate of the mystery 3rd track. It seemingly isn't coming to Tour, so unless we get an 8 exclusive track (which I'm not expecting), we're probably looking at another surprise retro.
Makes the speculation a lot more interesting, there's a lot of possibilities. Do they go with a fan favorite like Airship Fortress? A snow themed track like Frappe Snowland or Rosalina's Ice World? Another GBA track like Yoshi Desert? Or just something completely random, like another 3DS track? Who knows?
Wait where does this fit in with the datamined prefixes? Are you saying another Retro replaces the final mystery nitro track of tour that we’re presuming comes to 8DX? That’s big if so.The interesting part about minimal ID changes is the fate of the mystery 3rd track. There are very very minimal ID changes in this update; shocking! The MD gap got a single ID increase, and a few other existing tracks got a single ID increase too, to indicate their return in this last batch or Tours (Peach Circuit N, LA Laps 3 R/T, Paris Promenade 3 N).
I’ll wait for the map objects to be checked before making the call for good, but the wind down in new content is looking to be coming to fruition.
That's going to be extremely annoying honestly, that means most of the tracks that are gonna get picked online are gonna be old ones.I'm honestly not looking forward to being restricted to like 32 tracks again.
I really hope they pull off a SSBU and bring back all 96 tracks with a new coat of paint + 32 new tracks. Charge us 70 dollars for it, I don't care. Considering how much that game could sell being a follow up to MK8, I'd say it's fair.
I watch the trailer again, I'm not someone who absolutely wants big graphics, but the bare minimum hasn't even been done in the background here :
The same kind of thing happens on Koopa Cape, with the cartoonish simplistic trees next to the well-detailed shell full of reflective effect.
What bothers me a bit is not the overall graphic quality of the pass, but that it's inconsistent.
It's interesting to see that there were already graphic inconsistencies from wave to wave, then within a same wave, and now even within a same track !
GCN Bowser won’t happen given that it almost certainly isn’t coming to Tour, and I dunno how else they’d end the BCP besides Wii Rainbow Road. There aren’t any other fitting retros. How about Rome, Vanilla Lake 2, Dino Dino Jungle, Piranha Plant Cove
Madrid, Piranha Plant Pipeline, GCN Bowsers Castle, TBA
What would that mean?I'm scared to check the internet for a few weeks if datamines find that Moonview Highway has the filename "Cnsw_68"
It's gonna get ugly I can feel it
Cnsw_68 means a Booster Course Pass track which is the 8th track of the 6th wave. Every BCP track filename follows this naming convention and it actually follows the prefix datamine from Wave 1 - even after the shuffle! It lets us know what tracks were in what position before the shuffle. If Moonview Highway is Cnsw_68, then it was originally the final track in the pass which was also the same slot with a Wii prefix in the prefix datamine from Wave 1, which would mean no Wii Rainbow Road like most people speculated for the final track of the pass. What would that mean?
Oh hell no. If we get Midshroom Bridge instead of Rainbow Road I'm gonna be so annoyed.Cnsw_68 means a Booster Course Pass track which is the 8th track of the 6th wave. It will be good to know either way, but yeah...I'm going to be disappointed if Moonview Highway has the filename with "68" in it.I'm scared to check the internet for a few weeks if datamines find that Moonview Highway has the filename "Cnsw_68"

I wondered if the datamined drivers have been there all this while, since it has not had the same visibility as the datamined courses. We don't know yet, this is just speculation.Wait so mysterious Final Nitro is out for wave 6?
We don't know. All we know is that Piranha Plant Pipeline is the last Nitro course coming to Tour (not counting Squeaky Clean Sprint because that's in the BCP first).Wait so mysterious Final Nitro is out for wave 6?
Technically we don’t know, but it doesn’t seem particularly likely.Wait so mysterious Final Nitro is out for wave 6?
It was such a pleasant surprise but also a chaotic one. We should find our answer when the wave drops in terms of slots to solve the mystery and form an idea on what is in Wave 6.I love how Moonview Highway out of all tracks caused so much chaos. It's such a weird situation lol
