Nintendo has been good about reprinting games with more updates on cartridge. Do we know if there is one with some of the booster pack data on cartridge (despite needing to own the DLC separately)?
 
Confirmed that once agian we're getting the first two routes in this Tour; Rome 3 coming later.

Yeah that's my conclusion as well. All the better for it too as these tracks will be preserved in a non-mobile game.

Rome itself looks…fine? I dunno, maybe it plays better than it looks, but it doesn’t look like it’s anywhere near as good as the other three city tracks yet to be added.

I’ll reserve judgment until next week, I suppose.

Definitely on the Diddy and Pauline train for Wave 6, unless they really want to save Pauline for Mario Kart 10 to be a big new addition. Really thought Funky was a lock, moreso than Kamek, but I guess not.

I'm honestly expecting this when it comes to Pauline. She's been THE newcomer for new entries in the spinoffs and no one else comes close to her "star power" as a newcomer. Putting her in the BCP seems like a wasted opportunity to make her the big Mario Kart Next or whatever reveal with a new lavish New Donk City course or something of the sort.

I wouldn't discount Nintendo doing weird stuff. Them going out of their way to put 3 in this wave and Wiggler as one of them is definitely a bit eyebrow raising to me and if the Switch has another year left on it, I do kind of wonder if the whole BCP2 thing isn't more possible than I would have previously thought (albeit shorter and potentially more focused on just lifting additional content out of Tour as it is officially winding down).

I mean I like Funky a lot and want him back, but I also don't need him absolutely or anything. I just have always figured they'd prioritize him and Diddy as returning popular characters and play into Pauline as new... but Kamek does throw a bit of a wrench even in that TBH.
 
Those screens are amazing. The bathroom course turned out far better than I imagined and I was intrigued walking in.
 
I'm soooo excited for this next tour. I think they did a great job differentiating Rome from Athens as you are in the city itself with the stone streets. The monuments look cool lit up at night. Also excited for Vancouver and Singapore to return, two of my fave city tracks.

What do you think the Wiggler Mii suit represents? Lakeside Park? Squeaky Clean Sprint? Both?

Depends on when Wave 5 releases. I doubt Squeaky Clean Sprint releases in Tour before Wave 5 comes out. However, I can see them debuting at the same time.

Hoesntly I feel that super Mario wonder stuff will be the big thing for the next Mario kart. As that game has the next batch of new usable characters since a 2d game finally has original characters for the first time since super Mario world. (Though dry bowser did come from nswmds)

Yeah, it's so weird that after this tour there is only 1 GBA retro datamined...no others. Even if Tour is wrapping up by the anniversary, are they seriously only giving 1 retro over the next couple months?

Considering there are supposedly still 4 more new tracks to add to Tour, that’s very believable. Add in a PPC tour with the GBA track and a Sundae tour, and that’s around 3 months of content which should push right up to the Anniversary.

I just thought, what if Paratroopa as a Koopa skin was the 3rd character of wave 6?
Considering the Paratroopa badge that was found in Mario Kart Tour datamine.

the internal name for squeaky clean sprint had been datamined before and based on its code (BR) and the objects associated with it people were able to guess that it'd be some kind of bathroom track

there wasn't actually any clear visual evidence of it beyond that though, this is the first time anyone's actually seen the thing

Objects for a bathroom themed track were found via Mario Kart Tour datamining quite a while ago. Given that seemingly every new track introduced in Tour will be coming to Mario Kart 8 through the BCP, the natural conclusion was that the bathroom track would come as well.

Yoshi’s Island was leaked in a similar way.

i've probably forgotten something but there's one remaining brand new track (DK) which people are thinking might be "Desert Kingdom" given the expected release timing lining up with similar courses in the rotation

but i haven't really been keeping up beyond that so i'm not sure what if any objects they've found to go with it
 
I don't think a trailer this week and release next week would be impossible IF the next Tour features Squeaky Clean Sprint. There's a distinct posibility the next Tour is just Lakeside Park (plus some R/T variants) though, and in that case Wave 5 naturally wouldn't be coming anytime within the next few weeks.

It’s also Everybody 1-2 Switch week, Pikmin Demo week, and in Europe, Nintendo is handling Rain Code. There’s a lot going on this week. I can’t imagine adding more.
 
The thing is they advertised Wave 3 during September 2022 Direct but it didn't release until December. I don't want to feel a bit like a killjoy (and I hope I'm wrong) but considering that the summer 2022 wave was released in August I don't see why this one won't be the same.

They’ve been continually shortening the gaps between each wave, I don’t see why we’d suddenly have to wait 5 months for the next one. The direct timing is more or less set in stone, so I don’t think that plays much of a role.

Not impossible or anything, but Nintendo’s been good with getting their DLC out quickly as of late.

It’s only a holiday through Tuesday. A Wed/Thurs trailer wouldn’t cross that.

They advertised Wave 4 during the February 2023 Direct and it came out exactly one month later. I think that's the situation we're looking at here.

Release July 20~

This lines up with SQS being the July 26 Tour, after Rome/Moonview and then Lakeside Park.
 
I Saw this comment on Reddit about the trailer coming this week:

"It’s 1000% true using math and Nintendos patterns (yes I know, 🤓) on the news section on the Switch, they show off two courses of the previous wave, usually in one week spurts, and after they show off the last 2, they announce the trailer the day after. And Nintendo is releasing Wave 4 courses, in 4 day spurts, and the first time they did it was the 16th, then 20th. So then the 24th, then the 28th, then the trailer would very likely drop the day after/the 29th. And add one week, like they usually do, boom, it’s the 6th. And it’ll be on a Thursday like they usually do."

It's the 26th and they haven't released the 3rd set of spotlights yet...

I agree that the trailer will come shortly after the last spotlight. It's longer than 4 day spurts though.

They aren’t gonna release wave 5 one day before Pikmin 4. That week can almost certainly be crossed out for a release.

The big attraction of this 5th wave really seems to be the characters, they played a lot on the hype of the characters in the trailer and they're throwing in 3 of them in one wave.
This makes me think even more that, for wave 6, we could have a new surprise.
The 2 remaining characters will be the bonus of wave 6, and something else will be the main attraction (a bunch of vehicle parts ?).
