News Batman Arkham Trilogy coming to Nintendo Switch on December 1st (out now!)

RE: Batman, I liked the Tim Burton movies and the 90s cartoon and the trailer gave me the vibes of both of those (as opposed to the CSI: Gotham vibes of Nolan, by point of comparison), which is one reason I'm interested. Besides just hearing good things in passing.
Given Paul Dini was involved with the games, the animated series vibes are to be expected, I suppose. I'd say the games pull from a variety of inspirations while still kind of having their own style.

Damn, that cover art is glorious, I would have never expected these games on switch. I have to say I'm grateful they are selling the three of them together, given that Arkham Knight probably needed more effort than the other two games I could have seen them selling asylum and city as a collection and knight as a stand alone game.

Also it seems like asylum and city are ports of the original games and not the return to Arkham versions, and that's great.

These games should have been on Switch like 3 years+ ago, lol.

I may bite if they come down in price, always happy for another playthrough of these games, particularly the first one

Where's the difference? I think I've only ever played the original ones :v
They were ported to unreal engine 4 with new assets and illumination, and the consensus is that they look way worse than the original. It's going to be a curious situation if the switch ends as the only modern platform with access to the best versions of asylum and city.

Does the Nintendo Switch physical version of Batman: Arkham Trilogy include all three games on one cartridge?
Batman: Arkham Asylum will be included on the Batman: Arkham Trilogy game cartridge. Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight will require an online connection to download and install both titles when the Batman: Arkham Trilogy cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console. All three games will then be playable as long as the cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console.

First game is all on the cartridge, the other games is partially on the cartridge.

Guess I'm skipping this.

Shame.

Pfffff... Same as mgs collection... Well, I'll wait for a sale and go digital.

Knight will definitely be a stress test for the ol' Switch, but looking at the games ported to the system already, it's no more demanding than games like Witcher 3 or Hellblade that have already made the transition in decent shape.

The studio porting it is Turn Me Up, who did the Switch ports of It Takes Two, Tony Hawk 1 & 2 remake, and the Borderlands games. Their work is solid.

Never doubted that'd be the case, so no suprise. Still, I'll definitely consider going digital for this once we have more information.

These could be the definitive console editions of Asylum and City. Makes me happy that this thread is acknowledging that :)

I think the debate should be already close but Arkham Knight will once again proveed that Switch could have handle any PS4/XOne era game. Its up to the will of developers to make the sacrifices or not.

The only game left would be RDR2.

I love that these are coming, but also bummed - after taking so long to get here, they’re going to barely (relatively speaking) miss the Switch 2 window it seems. I really, really hope these get patched when the succ comes, Knight is a beautiful looking game and I want that uncompromised version on this console.

This feels like a pointless release with it coming so ridiculously late.

Can't imagine that there's much of an audience for these ports at this point.
It is definitely a long time coming, but I would hardly call it pointless. It is a Batman game(s). There will always be an audience for those games.

This one of those collections that I buy day 1 no questions.

These games are all amazing that's a lot of high quality content right there to play on the convenience of the Switch.

3 of the best action games ever.

We have boxart

Looking really good!

Also during my OC the Return to Arkham City playthroughs on my one-X, the npc draw distance is atrocious. Just far enough out and detective vision is showing them float instead of actually animated in movement. When I played City on my Intel HD 4000 l was getting better npc draw distances.

Interested in trying this out eventually. Hope the ports are good!

Another release where I'd rather play the games on another platform (haven't actually gotten around to Knight yet), but I'm curious as to how good the ports will be. What's Turn Me Up's pedigree here?

Will say Asylum is incredible though, 3D Metroidvania style done completely right.

They did the Switch ports of It Takes Two, the Borderlands games and Tony Hawk's 1+2, among others. So far, their work is solid.

Turn me up is a good team for switch ports, they made the It takes two, Tony Hawk and borderlands ports

In general, warner teams are choosing porting teams with solid works for switch like shiver, saber and turn me up.
Yep, yep. That's one of the reasons why I wish WB did more with their back catalog: plenty of games there I would love to have competently ported to Switch.

Borderlands games ran great in handheld mode on the Switch. At least for me they did. I have faith this crew can turn this trilogy into something incredible on the Switch.

Curious how knight will run. It ran fine on xbox one at 900p 30fps. I bet they can get this running close to 720p with some scaled back effects at a stable frame rate

I really hope the they have the Adam West Batsuit dlc on this. They never released in on Xbox One and I'd love to use it.

Looking at all the dlc included, they made a ton for City and Knight. All those batsuits are pretty sweet. The Animated series skins and the Adam West/Michael Keaton skins and Bar.obiles really speak to me.

The new outfits in the Nier:A port got me hoping last year that when these eventually came they’d do a Battinson skin. Oh well!

Who is handling the ports?

Edit: Oh, so same folks who did Borderlands. This will be interesting.

I actually never played the DLC for City/Knight so that’s another plus point for me getting this.

I hope this and MGS sell well so we can convince more 3rd parties to bring older collections to Switch and then onto Switch 2, there is definitely a market for them.

I know we have not played it yet but Turn Me Up games feel like they are becoming the new Panic Button with their port work. You don’t really hear of PB these days whereas early Switch days I used to see more chatter on what third party port they’ll be working on next.

I agree. also Panic Button had some of their people leave and make a new studio too.

but a mac version was released later, which did include it
I might've misstated what I meant, I was saying the PC version is still missing the Joker content, and the Mac Steam version is 32 Bit unlike the Mac version of Arkham City. It looks like only the mac version got it, even after the G4WL removal and addition of the game on other storefronts like GoG or Epic.

I said this before but if what I seen from the trailer is accurate. Why can’t more Switch port looks like an improved PS3/360 games instead a blurry smudge. Arkham Knight looks great so far and could be the most impressive port I ever seen if performance hold up.

But GoG and Epic are the same versions at steam

These games are among the best ever created, they were the first non-Nintendo games I’ve played and they carry a lot of that perfectionist, detailed magic that many Nintendo titles have. I’m wondering why the general reception of this announcement is quite low-key, it’s either that most people already know them and their quality, or that the Arkham franchise is not as popular anymore. I’m just so happy that they made their way on the Switch.
