I will say that he definitely has some genuine SEGA connections because he shared some Sonic stuff with me a good while before it was announced IIRC.

He's also been telling us about P3 and P4 ports for the Switch for years now, and I believe the P3 remake as well. I think he's

I think Zippo is a mix of having access to some info and an appetite for attention bigger than what he can share with confidence, so he resorts to lots of piggybacking. His post about Chrono Trigger just now is honestly sad.

Oh shit are they actually done with NSMB

Oh please. The New line should have been done with the Wii entry, yet we got another two after that. I'm hoping for something actually new this time, something fresh, something also involves Donkey kong and other Kong simians.

The Pyoro guy was only liking tweets that mentioned Super Mario RPG. Nothing about Chrono or FE4. And then he randomly posted that Fat Yoshi meme.
I feel like he's just toying with us at this point to be honest. But a SMRPG would be so extremely random that it's definitely a bold claim to make. It's a make or break for his account.

I'd also definitely enjoy both a new 2D Mario game and some sort of Mario RPG resurgence.

But real talk

When’s Yakuza Zero Billionaire Edition for Switch
Yakuza is literally everywhere, just today GOG.com got drm-less versions of them. Except Switch. Devs still hold that stupid grudge. Whatever went on between them and Nintendo should have been forgotten by now but they continue to be childish about it.

Fun fact, Nintendo had no big games planned for 2nd half of 2023, but a couple weeks ago decided to change course and create a new 2D Mario game to release this year.

The SMRPG and CT hopes are kinda out of nowhere, SNES classic could literally mean anything, first or third party.

Anything good enough to warrant a remake would qualify as a classic just by being old enough that it was released for the SNES.

Thx everyone for wishing my birthday in advance!!

Hello nate I'm new to this forum and it's my birthday do you have a surprise for me or a teasing for one of the ND announcements plz
Nate only gives when he feels like it. Don’t ask him. We’re lucky enough to have him as is.

Regardless, happy birthday!

I'm sorry for bringing up Zippo, but has anyone seen this yet? What the fuck?

I don't know who Dreamcast Guy is but yeah, never liked RGT 85 at all with his awful clickbaity thumbnails (always with a falsy worried / truly constipated face) and titles "Guys, I think the new Zelda is in trouble" (yeah, 10 millions in three days), or "New Intellevision Amico REVEALED, better than the PS5 ?!" (Yeah sure).

This just happened to pop up the day after RGT85 criticized Zippo for the endless rumormongering on the Spawncast this Saturday. Throughout the podcast they repeatedly said Nate might appear, so Zippo was probably listening in to piggyback on any Nate teases and instead gets insulted by RGT85, hence the blog post.
Also throughout the podcast RGT85 was actually CRITICIZING click bait behavior, so it's hard for Zippo to turn around and knock him afterwards. Zippo probably knew or knows someone in Sega's marketing department which has led to a few genuine reveals, but is otherwise a petty grifter imo.

Haven't been here in a few months, nice to see the hype is still as present as ever. Hope we get a Direct soon for everyone that's excited.

Either this or a new Mario game isn't a big game, it's gonna be fun seeing which of those ridiculous narratives are going to be pushed instead of just admitting they don't know shit.

Good lord, safe to say that the train has already departed and exceeding speed limit with how how fast the thread is going lmao.

I love this time of year, Direct season!

About the rumored Super Mario RPG remake, i've seen people say that they think it'll be a HD2D remake. Why HD2D? I'm just curious.
It'd be pretty ironic if one of the "fake 3D" games of the SNES era gets remade in "fake 2D" now.

Of course it's not going to be apart of the NSMB series. It's going to be "The Super Mario Movie: The Game" featuring Chris Pratt's voice and an unplayable Luigi.

A lot of YouTubers/podcasts I've seen have acted like it's common sense for Nintendo to not do a June direct. They're like "why would you think Nintendo would ever do a June direct? They will just do twitter drops lol" I don't get it.

I haven't watched the spawncast clip yet, but it sounds like it was pretty bad.

They DID put Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania out on Switch
Yeah, as I said, they are childish about it. Nonsensical excuses for Yakuza yet they don't say no to the money to be made off Switch.

That said, it's been a while since the last time we saw a brand new Monkey Ball game. It was on Vita, I believe...

I wish someone would just rip the bandaid off and tell us that the mythical creature known as Metroid Prime 4 will not be in the upcoming direct.

To anyone who reads that and wonders why I was so sure of Prime 4 yesterday but not now: I am wondering the exact same thing.

Someone on Era has also heard Mario RPG remake, so it's at least 2 different people claiming it. I made a similar comment earlier today about both new 2D Mario and Mario RPG remake at the same time being weird, but hindsight I kinda get it. We're still dealing with the aftermath of widespread covid delays all over the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if the plan was for the 2d game to come out closer to the film and the remake to come later, but the platformer was internally delayed.

Some guy posting we’re getting 2D Mario and a SNES remake this week?

Some other guy posting we’re getting a partner direct this week?

Zippo posting more bullshit?

That’s more chaos than I was expecting to wake up to.

I can’t actually read all responses quick enough to catch up, this is a bit insane!

I’m gonna cross my fingers for the Zelda WiiU ports (I’m not expecting them, I just want them)

A little over 48 hours and we will have a good idea of what the next 6 months looks like

We've seen similar things happen to Nintendo's output. Fire Emblem Engage was content complete in late 2021, while Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes must've been finished around then or not long after, given the June 2022 release date. Then there's Metroid - Prime Remastered finished development not long before Metroid Dread itself launched. In both cases, Nintendo kept some space between the titles.

Mario probably has it easier, given how big and versatile the broader franchise is. Mario RPG and 2D Mario are very different entities, after all. They might not even be the only Mario titles confirmed, given the smoke around a possible Olympics game entry also being due. What's more odd is that there's no Mario other than the movie for 2023.
