Imagine how well a 2D Mario will sell at Christmas. If it’s top tier it will probably sell more than TotK did.

Also, when are we getting a remake of Chrono Trigger?!
 
My semi-shitpost predictions included 2D Mario as well as Super Mario RPG (but only for NSO). If they pan out, then maybe my 51 Classical Era Games and Triforce Strategy announcements are in play too.

What new characters you hoping for? It's a lot more exciting now that we're getting those as well. I'm personally hoping for E.gadd or Petey Piranha. Any kongs would be nice as well, but I think they are quite likely already.

It's funny because I actually like NSMBU+L far more than the original trilogy and world. So I would love another NSMB game.

Also if this is true lolololol at the idea that a 2D Mario game isn't a major title. Despite gamers hating them, those games sell gangbusters.

Legitimately until this very second I forgot they'd added another character to Kart last time out.

Hyped for wave 5 and new characters woop woop
 
Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line still has two DLC packs scheduled for the fall release with details unknown, not even the games. Now one these of course could be for FFXVI, but not sure why that wouldn't have just been announced in the initial reveal. It seems quite likely that Square has two unannounced games that will be releasing sometime in October / November and likely lining up with promotion for these packs. Even if you account for FFXVI, that would be one unannounced game for sure. Couple that with rumours of a SNES classic game remake... maybe Chrono Trigger?

Honestly? Super Mario RPG remake. I think I like Chrono as a game better, but it’s far more likely to get a remake on it’s own than SMRPG (and also the very low possibility of Geno and Mallow amiibo being made for it is very very exciting)

Would anyone mind if the next 2D Mario game has the artstyle of Super Mario Odyssey and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

My hot take is that 2D Mario has never been more than just “pretty good” outside of World, and even then World is nowhere near the top for my favorite 2D platformers.

Very curious to see how they iterate on the formula.

Even if only half of it is shown, I think we're looking at a pretty solid Direct, in my opinion.

I tried everything I could to convince everyone, I searched for a old quotes about future of 2D Mario by Tezuka, the artstyle topic with Miyamoto. I even searched for a time - to - reveal with past 2D Mario games and so on. The hype is real.
