We should get a presentation next week. It can be 2 possibilities

1) Something focused on Pikmin 4
2) Something more broader like a General/Mini Direct, or partner showcase.

I still can’t believe Odyssey didn’t get a Captain Toad-like spinoff game where you play as a Pokio.

Nintendo could totally make a whole game based on that, it has so much gameplay potential.

Is there really anything to the new hardware rumors or are people trying to will it into existence?
… I mean, are you asking if there’s new hardware coming? There’s a thread on this very forum with well over a thousand pages of posts of people talking about new hardware.

We’re in year 7 of the Switch’s lifespan! Of course there’s new hardware coming.

Who else was around for this tweet back in 2016?

WARNING: OLD TWEET. DO NOT GET EXCITED.

Maybe we’ll see something similar next week!

Nothing I've seen in the Switch's lifespan really matches the insanity of the speculation for the NX, where fans were basically hypothesizing an entirely unconfirmed first year with tons of big games that turned out to be completely correct. The Pro speculation had nothing on it. This tweet was like a signal that it was finally all time to end the speculation.

I really don't see them saying anything about FE yet BUT my one fear is if history will repeat itself if it is a Genealogy remake.

IntSys gets a team that loves Gaiden to the point that they would rather stay as faithful as they can to even the worst maps in the game, a remake made with love but then it gets released during the times the 3DS was already dying and doesn't get out of that console either.
I think that as long as the next console is backwards compatible with Switch games it should not really be a problem.

This was two forums ago. I didn’t even have an account back then, I just read and didn’t interact. But yeah, it was WILD. People were goin’ bonkers for whatever NX was.

the 2015-2016 days were fucking miserable and I'm so glad it's over. Basically non-stop screaming for Nintendo to go third party

Sorry I meant is it coming next week.

Or the reveal at least

this was fun

What would make this an amazing direct being realistic with what Nintendo could announce now?
If they announce 2D Mario and/or MonkEPD, give us a teaser of Mario Kart wave 5, and a gameplay trailer for Splatoon 3 Side Order, that would be enough for me. Anything else would just be icing on the cake.

Tbf "two forums ago" forum was around a lot longer. That was also where the infamous Wii U Hardware speculation thread series was, which was uh.....something.

If necro is confident we’re getting a general because of M&S then I’m raising the defences cuz that’s still prime Partner Showcase material

If Nintendo do something in june will be next week, even if Nintendo doesn't care so much with 1-2 Everybody Switch, I doubt they will have a direct in the week that the game release.

Are people still saying the 21st? I thought it was debunked.

Semi-related but the Andre video in that thread claiming that nintendo is going to announce Wave 5 in June uses horrendous reasoning. If there is a direct in June it's extremely unlikely there will be a full Wave 5 reveal in it considering that last year Wave 2 was announced in July and released in August.

Didn’t Nate also reply to someone in a YouTube comment saying Nintendo is doing something soon? So even if it’s not the 21st, I don’t think he would use the word “soon” lightly.

Yeah, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is developed by Sega, so that could be in a Partner Showcase.

Though after the Mario movie, Nintendo might want to place a larger focus on anything within the Mario property. Even something as mundane as M&S if they don't have much else to show until September.

I agree, though if the new console rumors are true, Nintendo might want to rush it all out the door before next fiscal year.

Partner Showcase talk, we are running in cycles yet again
That’s how it goes now, every time we have a solid lead on a Direct (usually ~1 week before it airs) that remaining time is just eaten up with “but what if it’s a partner” “no way” “but maybe…” repeated over and over. It’s obnoxious, but I get it. At least we only have a few days until announcement.

This was one of the wildest moments in Nintendo history and I've been following Nintendo news since when Twilight Princess was still just Zelda for Gamecube.

Nintendo Direct but it is streamed in 144p and you need to wait for the games to be released in order to see how they really look.
Ah, like the good old days of downloading a 13 second video from IGN that took an hour to download despite being the size of a postage stamp.
Aww... I was going to make a joke that Nintendo would do a Summer Direct not in the Summer, but then the solstice starts too early (4:24 am UTC) for that to work
Well by that logic Summer Game Fest doesn’t even take place in the summer, so we can laugh at that

The trailer for Metroid Prime 4 could be four pixels and I'd still lose my mind.

That’s percentage is too random to be random
Yeah people seem to be misunderstanding what Nate's saying in regards to the 6.21% thing

Crucially, if I'm not mistaken he's never directly said it wasn't a hint. Just that he's annoyed outlets are reporting on a random percentage quoted in response to something unrelated to Nintendo

It's fine if weird nerds like us speculate it on these boards. It's annoying when outlets report on it, because it's.... not anything

I just realised during most E3 years we had 2 Summer Directs because (apart from 2021's September 23rd Direct) they both were technically in the summer.

If there is a Direct next week, hearing about it a week before is a nice change of pace. Usually there are whispers a month prior, which leads to weeks of agony and doubt. I don't think Racoon could handle that again.
