May i remind you to the famous "What's behind the curtain" thing from some years ago? ^^

Somewhat. Nobody believes Nintendo would use Qualcomm here for the switch successor. Was this already discussed?

This is leading to some internet speculation about why would Nintendo go to Qualcomm, conclusions being drawn about what that means for the nVidia relationship, and is the T239 canceled

“Those are companies [PlayStation and Nintendo] that are interested in having handheld gaming capabilities. So obviously they would reach out and talk to us,” Alex Katouzian (Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Mobile, Compute and XR) said. “I think they, in general, will reach out to someone like Qualcomm because they know how big we are in Android gaming.”
I am trying to think of a gimmick or feature for REDACTED but I'm not as creative as Nintendo and the Switch is jam packed with so many gimmicky features.
I love the modular design but I want joycons to be improved if they're returning again and maybe a dock with a few more bells and whistles?
If you look from a hardware-perspective Qualcomm can't offer anything over Nvidias chips. Nintendo doesn't need a 5G-modem-chip, Nintendo doesn't need an image processor to enhance to quality of their camera. Nintendo needs good gaming-power in a very efficient SoC to meet the thermal envelop of mobile hardware. Was this already discussed?

Remember the rumor about the new system streaming multiscreen multiplayer games to nearby phones?Did the original 1-2 switch game have people use their smartphones as controllers?
No?Remember the rumor about the new system streaming multiscreen multiplayer games to nearby phones?
Was that the one that also included a VR headset?Remember the rumor about the new system streaming multiscreen multiplayer games to nearby phones?
Metroid Prime 4 is so totally gonna be cross gen and I'm so buying it day one on REDACTED.
I remember that video posted by ubisoft a while back.Is there any interesting tech out there that hasn't been used much for games yet? Sorta like how the DS touchscreen was inspired by PDAs. The only ones I can think of are completely ridiculous, like 3D printers
Nintendo could go for a more 3D-like-Audio, doesn't cost that much.Is there any interesting tech out there that hasn't been used much for games yet? Sorta like how the DS touchscreen was inspired by PDAs. The only ones I can think of are completely ridiculous, like 3D printers
You're correct, but I had fun thinking about it.I don't see any similarities with SNES logo, I am even pretty sure that next hardware will still use the same Switch font as now. This is really tinfoil theory am sorry.
I believe it was in a patent; however, that seems to have been referring to Everybody 1-2 Switch and its "gameplay on mobile" aspect.
And that's why I keep saying!There's always Scrollwheel-Shoulderbuttons!
That's something neither Xbox nor PS have or have done yet!

Eye tracking. Is there any interesting tech out there that hasn't been used much for games yet? Sorta like how the DS touchscreen was inspired by PDAs. The only ones I can think of are completely ridiculous, like 3D printers
They already tried this with the New 3DS, atleast headtracking, to improve the viewing-angles of the 3D-parallax-barrier of the display. What would the improvements to gaming of eye-tracking without VR-Glasses/a autostereoscopic 3D-Display? I don't think Switch Two will include one of these.Eye tracking.

For all the tech-savy folks in this chat (great reading your thoughts over the past few weeks btw, although I understand very little), is anything like that achievable with today's technology ?
Aaaaaand we get Everybody 1 2 Switch coming June 30th. Another rumored title that turned out to be releasing (sorta) H1 2023. H2 still looking suspiciously empty.

It has to be something that’s used in everyday life. In this case I think it’s more to do with VRS, as nvidia does have it baked into their hardware since Turing. Tracking where your eyes are and adjusting the resolution in portable mode for that rather than have everything at once be “720p” or “1080p”.They already tried this with the New 3DS, atleast headtracking, to improve the viewing-angles of the 3D-parallax-barrier of the display. SD speed is not that bad at the end, or it is? And the speed is in the card, not the card reader, right? So, if someone buy a UFS card, the read speed will be of that card, right?
My smartphone. How can Nintendo gamefy it? Like in Super Mario Party: a singular Switch with multiple users, the main user has the game and the secondary user can put his profile as Player 2 and rake in coins for when he plays Mario Party on his user. Nintendo can do this by enabling some sort of play with the smartphone by streaming the game the Switch is playing. It’s like a Wii U + Switch concept, but instead of a GamePad, it’s your smartphone. This can sorta be a viral strategy because:What is something of convenience or your home living you use in your everyday life that you think can be “gamified” by Nintendo?
1: I believe they patented that, yes, so I think it's very possible. My smartphone. How can Nintendo gamefy it? Nintendo can do this by enabling some sort of play with the smartphone by streaming the game the Switch is playing. It’s like a Wii U + Switch concept, but instead of a GamePad, it’s your smartphone. • Person A has a Switch
• Person B is Person A’s friend, who doesn’t have a Switch
• Person B wants to play Mario Kart
• Person A starts Mario Kart and streams the game in Person B’s smartphone
• Person B playa Mario Kart in their phone
• Person B now has to leave, but the Switch leaves some data inside it (maybe in an app?)
• Person B buys a Switch and Mario Kart, and when they put their Nintendo account in the Switch, their Mario Kart data is there
I should clarify, when I originally made the question to the users of famiboard, it was more about something that is a central idea to the system, and is the concept of the system. I’m unsure how requiring your phone for playing the system would work though but I think they are doing this now with Everybody’s 1-2 Switch? My smartphone. How can Nintendo gamefy it? It is? I had no idea2: That's the technology behind Everybody 1-2-Switch!
The idea is that instead of nintendo having to spend/charge extra money packing in second screen with the console (which is kind of what happened with the WiiU), Nintendo could simply take advantage of the fact that nearly everyone has a smartphone by providing people with an app they can download on their smartphone that connects to the console to use as that second screen and provide a device that can attach joycons to the smartphones. They could even make it so that people can use their switch as that second screen by downloading a similar app on the switch. In addition to being a noteworthy new feature this would also allow for easier emulation of DS and 2DS.I should clarify, when I originally made the question to the users of famiboard, it was more about something that is a central idea to the system, and is the concept of the system. I’m unsure how requiring your phone for playing the system would work though but I think they are doing this now with Everybody’s 1-2 Switch?
Can’t be certain.
It is? I had no idea

Great. Nintendo is implanting MiiTok on Switch 2.What is something of convenience or your home living you use in your everyday life that you think can be “gamified” by Nintendo?
Actually you just reminded me, I think I’m on of the Q&As, Nintendo was asked about the metaverse when they responded what amounted to “if we can gamify it we will look into it, but at the moment it doesn’t seem possible”Great. Nintendo is implanting MiiTok on Switch 2.
they mentioned that about web3 at large. nfts, crypto, metaverse, etc. they don't see how they can make it "fun" yet so they're not jumping into it. smart thinking given the collapse and volatility. metaverses, separately, are just whored up MMOs spaces, so it's nothing they can't do and gamifyActually you just reminded me, I think I’m on of the Q&As, Nintendo was asked about the metaverse when they responded what amounted to “if we can gamify it we will look into it, but at the moment it doesn’t seem possible”
Or am I misremembering this
Since it was made public, this likely isn’t going to be used.
Most patents don’t end up for actually devices.
However, the prospect of 3D audio is cool.
Stinky Horse Game was leaked by Emily, who has talked, in the same breath, about two Fire Emblem games, one of which turned out to be Engage. I suspect her source for the FE games was not her Stinky Horse source however, and she's left the industry, so no follow ups.No, that's not what I mean. I mean like, any other reveal leak/rumor that got bundled with the 1-2 Switch one.
There are plenty of potential improvements if you pair the technology with AI.They already tried this with the New 3DS, atleast headtracking, to improve the viewing-angles of the 3D-parallax-barrier of the display. What would the improvements to gaming of eye-tracking without VR-Glasses/a autostereoscopic 3D-Display? I don't think Switch Two will include one of these.
I mean with VR, research into 3D audio is a must to work well with it.This specific patent likely won't but this and the AR-VR connectivity patent suggests that they have been spending a signifcant amount of time trying out VR implementation for their next console.
This made me curious how the modern counterparts of those other devices compare to their 2017-available versions. When the switch launched in 2017, it was already using a very large battery already compared to other devices like high end smartphones/phablets of the time:
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - 3300mAh
Nokia 8- 3090mAh
Samsung Galaxy S8:
iPhone 8 Plus- 2691mAh
- S8- 3000 mAh
- S8+ -3500 mAh
- S8 Active- 4000 mAh
iPhone X- 2716 mAh
LG V30- 3300mAh
the iPad (5th Gen) by comparison: 8827 mAh
iPad Mini: 5124mAh
And then the Switch: 4310mAh
Didn’t know Emily Rogers left the industry. Would make sense, haven’t heard anything since the Project NX days.and she's left the industry, so no follow ups.
I think she still hangs around here as a fan, but she moved on to other (non-journalistic, IIRC) pursuits.Didn’t know Emily Rogers left the industry. Would make sense, haven’t heard anything since the Project NX days.
Pretty straight forward. Kit and Krysta confirming that this is likely exactly what it seems like - projects that might have been killed otherwise get a release because the dev teams have moved on to the next hardware, and that when they were at Nintendo, hardware variants were very strategically deployed, and the pastel Joy-Cons are a classic late-gen move.Didn't watch it, but I seriously hate these thumbnails with the dumb expressions.
Nintendo Ouroboros launching holiday next yearEverybody 1-2 Switch! announced. I would like to bring your attention to the fact 1-2 Switch, the original game, used the Nintendo Switch logo. This game uses "Switch" in the style of the Super Nintendo logo.
I am. Dead serious. I genuinely think this is in reference to the next system. Super Nintendo Switch, on shelves next to Everybody 1-2 Switch.
release a 3D Donkey Kong game, Metroid Prime 4, a brand new Wario Land, the return of a dead or semi-dead franchise like F-Zero, Star Fox, and your consoles sales is gonna explode, is not hard to do thisPretty straight forward. Krysta says that the original 1-2 Switch was a boondoggle even at launch. Press was actively uninterested, and the dev team wasn't excited for it either.
Kit says that one of the late-gen challenges isn't just continuing to make money, but continuing to maintain a certain level of audience engagement, because you're going to need those eyeballs at the next big launch.
