StarTopic The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |ST| Linkin' Parts (Please Tag All Spoilers)

I’m interested in seeing other solutions for this one.

1) I somehow knew what shrine this was going to be before I clicked the spoiler button.
2) I did something very similar:
Put three small panels on the bottom instead of two - one in the middle and the others between the side rails. Led to good stability in the transfer part.
3) It made me feel like a super genius.

Me, in Breath of the Wild mode, jumping into a well expecting nothing more than a shallow drop and maybe a Korok seed, instead becoming free lunch for a Like-like.

This game is freaking incredible. It's BotW's freedom but also in a world full of areas that feel extremely special and like you shouldn't be in them at all, like something you could only reach during end game or something. BotW was only really like that in Hyrule's Castle if you went there early, but even then knew the whole time the castle was there so it wasn't like it was a huge surprise. In TotK there are several places where you think "wait, is it okay for me to be here this early" and you can feel how the game completely subverts gaming conventions and gives you a new perspective on freedom.

I did the same. I like how we can solve shrines in many different ways. They are better than botw so far too.

Is someone else impressed that there are no bugs because the game is huuuuuuuuuuuuge?
I've played for 17h. World is much more alive - more npcs, more monsters, more puzzles. Combat is better and abilities are awesome... TOTK is so much better than BOTW and BOTW is a 10/10 game.

I remembered to jump from the Great Sky Island all the way into the depths below Hyrule's surface via a chasm and it was as awesome as I expected.

It's also fun detecting when and where the game is loading because this is very intelligently made.

For the Ring Ruins in Kakariko Village, are you able to address that whole storyline from the get go or do you need to advance the plot a bit? I did the quest of finding the four transcriptions for the one guy but aside from that there does not appear to be a way to gain access to the floating ring.

The wanderlust is strong with this game.

I could only play an hour or so today, and I did like three extra things to what I planned.

You need to advance the story

I mean there’s no question it’s better than BOTW.

It honestly makes BOTW look like a tech demo. And I loved BOTW.

And I’m already thinking about the next instalment in this franchise.

I’m actually in disbelief at how unbelievably fucking brilliant this game turned out to be. The sheer sense of adventure, creativity, playability, colour palette. It’s just totally bewildering.

Just jumped off the sky island

Some observations;

- Beginning of the game was hype; Ganondorf talking shit to me was oddly satisfying.

- Sky Island and the first steps taken with the new mechanics is a retreat of the same approach with BotW, but the playground idea with the new powers are much appreciated. Seeing some cool things happen and the Zonai structures are awesome.

- Especially the wing zonai; slowly sliding and soaring through the sky… that’s some “oh god this is awesome” moment.

- Just landed back in Hyrule, can’t wait to rediscover! Saw a shrine and solved it right away.

- Saved at Purah’a place… adult Purah, is something alright.

BOTW: So, you like labyrinths?

TOTK: Okay, have one on the ground, and then the sky, and then the depths!

I feel like I’m going to run out of ways to say “that was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in a game” by the time I’m finished

Me "ok going to dive quickly to the underground, just 20 minutes"
Also me "how did I spent 4 hours there????"

Also it blew my mind that

that light roots are connected to a shrine and they name of the lightroot is the name of the shrine backwards (so the Runakit shrine is above the Tikanur light root. So if you find a root, theres a shrine above it

Underground, cool thing

Did I just…. Explore the underground deep underneath Hyrule and then use ascend and… end up on top of the Dueling Peaks?

Like …… what?!

The while Depths is the overworld mirrored as far as I can tell

so that’s how you get up there with no stamina upgrades…gotcha

I’m wondering if I should wrap up some of the side content before preceding on with the story, so question for after clearing the Regional Phenomena main quest:

is Hyrule Castle the final dungeon?

No.

Hey, does anyone know where the hell Hestu is lol? I tried searching online and looked at multiple articles, but I still can't find him despite going to the exact coordinates he's supposed to be at.

if you’ve done one of the village’s quests already, he’ll be in the southeast corner of lookout landing

Wells in this game are so good. I love a good video game well and this game is like catnip for that.

Just went to the underground section of Lookout Landing to upgrade my stamina and an NPC talks about a hole in the wall there with a beast. No idea what the hell is there but I'm about to find out and maybe regret it.

Guys. Guys. Guys.

My brain is breaking. I can’t with this game

It should not be possible for me to love this more than BOTW. It should not be a thing

But this is doing it with so much ease I just can’t

I've confirmed this is the perfect game. This is gaming's top form. You can't get any better. It's even overwhelming. It's everything I wanted from a game. A living, breathing world. And puzzles everywhere!!! And gameplay possibilities, you can throw fruits at enemies, make up your own magical weapons, whew!! And everything is everywhere it's overwhelming.

About the story...

They are totally retconning Ocarina of Time and A Link To the Past, right? A Link to the Past not as much as OOT because I can see it fitting it flimsily the way TOTK presented to us, but there's no way around OOT. It's a retcon. It's the same story - Ganondorf is the one male gerudo born, but he wants power and conquer all Hyrule, he tries to be all friendly with the king, Zelda warns the king but he ignores her, shit happens and they all get wrecked by Ganondorf. I've been breaking my head all day thinking about this. It could be between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time (or better yet, Minish Cap) but it still wouldn't make any sense. How could they do this

Yes I care

Chances are that BOTW is a full series reboot like some people thought. It's a new timeline.

I feel like I’m playing GTA at times, the shrine nearest to Terry town is now one of my all time favorites. I’m 50 hours into this game and still have half the map both upper and lower to uncover, as well as most of the sky islands, let alone do a proper exploration of the ones I have uncovered. I tried today in tackling my massive backlog in quests only to add like 20 more on top of them.
Still slow rolling the story portion only done 4 glyphs, and have only done the Rito portion, heck I haven’t even seen the desert or come close to Zoras domain yet, my gosh, I don’t want this game to ever end!

but that's what's confusing too. BOTW directly references OOT as it was more than once in a different way. The Nabooru call out, the Zora texts talking about Ruto awakening as a sage and aiding the princess and the chosen hero and stuff like that. Yet there's no chosen hero in the flashbacks in TOTK. Just the same general Ganondorf origin story.

But I do get the reboot thing. It makes sense. It could be that too.

I mean, it could be just a different Ganondorf. This takes place in the very founding of the Kingdom of Hyrule, something so ancient it puts the previous 10,000 years of Calamity Ganon into shame. We have thought that Ganon and Ganondorf stayed the same individual but he very well could have also been reincarnating like the other members of the trio just with fewer rebirths in the long run.

Ice Lizalfos horns seem pretty op as a fuse on any kind of heavy weapon. First hit freezes the enemy, second knocks them over, then you run up and repeat.

My favourite shrine so far.

I initially
made a hanging box, like a ski lift, because that worked in the previous section. Joke was on me when it got me to the end but I was stuck under the rail and unable to get up to the end. I eventually went for a similar build as yours, except I had the fans on the top and a third panel in the centre - each side panel straddled the first set of rails and then the middle one was threaded neatly into the next rail.

General update from tonight’s couple of hours playing - I hate the sand seal plush lady. But I love this game.

Hooooly shit the huge cave under Hyrule Castle. Absolute insanity. It’s like a whole dungeon.

This is what I wanted so bad, big places that you just discover.

I did that last night. It just keeps going and going and going! This game is gigantic.

Just completing the lead up to the Rito “Dungeon” and whew, it just keeps going! I’m glad I explored before hand as I happened to find a certain piece of equipment that has made the cold no problem :)

I think we should all just consider the OG timeline as the “legend” and BOTW and TOTK is a new timeline. A reboot so they don’t have to fit it into any kind of timeline, but with just enough connection that they can still reference it.

For some reason nearly every single piece of armor I have found are chest pieces. That's not a bad thing, exactly, but I could really use some helmets and pants!

When you do something stupid, and then before you can correct your mistake the game decides you also need to be punished for your poor planning:

(I can't wait to now have an endless supply of videos just like this one again)

My playtime in 3 days vs. lifetime playtime of most of my other Switch games
