How are the loading times when compared to Breath of the Wild? And are they always the same?
For example, if you fall off an island that has the travel medallion placed on it, and you decide you want to warp back up to it mid-flight, does this trigger a long loading screen?

I bowed out of the spoiler thread pretty early, so I’ll ask: how’s combat? I wish the actual melee combat was slightly tighter, but I know they added a shit ton of extra options in the way of goofing around with things in the world, weapon fusion, etc. Heard the things like the outposts and enemy encounters feel more “designed” too. More Great Plateau, less open world type stuff.

Is it all enough to make combat more dynamic and more fun?

Not very substantial from what we've seen unfortunately.
considering I was never sold on that part of the game I’m pretty happy about that. Interesting they made them one of the focuses on marketing though.

I recently learned that wombats make square poop, which has made me extremely fascinated to look at other animals' (and by extension koroks') poop shapes. cough @ngpdrew cough
If developers don't start individually modeling poop like Kojima individually modeling melting ice cubes I'm going to scream.

Without spoiling much, how is the new exploration? Are there enough new areas to explore besides what is shown in the trailers(yes/no)? As I probably will spend many many hours just wandering around like in BOTW lol.

There are a lot of new areas that haven't been shown in the trailer

I get that TotK is a very special game and thus a very special circumstance

but

I hope these "non-spoiler spoilers Q&A" type threads become a thing for other highly anticipated games going forward

Could be good for new Pokémon games! We could ask, like, "Is Galvantula in this" without having to learn the whole pokedex

Is the landmass of Hyrule still the same or has it been expanded upon? Not talking about above or below it but the actual map from BOTW, is that still the same size?

Cave chads:

What goes on in the smaller caves? Is it mostly combat stuff, or are there puzzles integrated into them as well

This thread has completely curbed my temptation to go into the real spoiler thread. I love it.

Are there meaningful changes to the surface that anyone has noticed? I don't need specifics, but is it worth getting excited about the surface layer at all, or just the sky and third layer?

Define meaningful?

I'm not sure if the surface topography has changed too much (though I don't remember BoTW's map all too well) but there's a lot of new stuff to do between new Shrines, sidequests, and caves. There are also more significant changes in certain areas

That's good to hear. I'm definitely most excited about the sky and depths, but I'm now excited by the new discoveries to make on land. Thanks!

there's one that's been talked about in preview videos dissecting the map. not sure if it's a huge spoiler but I'll put two tags.

yes there are meaningful changes.

elaborating on the above (don't click on this unless you wanna know):

the new settlement over the Sacred Grounds is really neat.

The surface is just the same surface limitations, The underworld is pretty much the same size as the overworld.

Okay now If I had asked that question I seriously would not want to have read that.

I can't remember if this was officially stated already in marketing or not, but do we know how far in the future TOTK is compared to where BOTW ended?

I’ve just ended up opening every spoiler in this thread, oops! Kind of fun to get spoilers filtered through a few different people and a couple degrees of removal from actually playing the game though.

Same, it's nice to know that in the past seven years my self control has improved a grand total of 0!

(but also, folks are asking tasteful questions here and being well guarded of story spoilers over in the capital S Spoiler thread so - based fami)

Yes, Zelda does a fart joke during the intro section of the game, very jarring and out of place.

It seems that after the Super Mario Bros Movie there's gonna be more Illumination influence in Nintendo's IP
Well excuuuuuse you princess

I have a simple question for the people that have played at least five hours, without spoilers, what are you impressions of the game so far?

For those of you who have started playing the game or are following every single spoiler/leak, where do you anticipate TotK will land in your list of Top Zelda Games when all is said and done?

I'm going out with a fight. This is probably a ban-able offense but I'm going for it.

Spoiler: the game is good👍🏿

Hm not playing but have generally been keeping track of most of the leaks

BoTW is already my favorite Zelda (and favorite game of all time). I think I'll consider ToTK objectively better than it, but I'm not sure it'll surpass BoTW as my favorite. The novelty of BoTW being the first game of its kind still makes me feel like it has a chance of holding the top spot. Like, I'm one of the people who prefers Galaxy 1 over 2 for that sort of reason (not a map reuse thing, just a "this game is unique because it's the first of its kind" thing)

But I'd say ToTK has the greatest chance of any game since or before for taking that number 1 spot

Someone raised a good point elsewhere; does Ultrahand make climbing obsolete, or are there still a lot of situations where climbing is preferable?
