StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (New Staff Post, Please read)

I'm sure they'll do the surveying and market research for the name.
Word. But assuming they’re done, maybe this is what the store owner saw: promo material for a Switch Pro.

But I think it’s too early to be sending marketing stuff. There’s still TOTK and its themed OLED

I Guess we're slowly reaching the point where someone leaks whatever this thing is on a random Wednesday huh
that's how most leaks happen. We don't get a notice a leak is happening, it just drops. And depending on how it is leaked, we may even think it's fake.

And why do you think a Switch successor won’t be labeled as the 2?
Because in the gaming space, naming consoles by 1, 2, 3, etc has only ever been Sony, to a point where their brand is sort of associated with that. Plus Nintendo tends to be more creative or.. playful(or weird?) with their naming conventions.

• Tears of the Kingdom
• Switch Successor reveal
• Pikmin 4

We’re talking as if Nintendo can’t do several stuff at the same time. Yes, a Redacted reveal will overshadow X or Y, but it’ll be momentarily. Yes, Switch 2 could overshadow Pikmin, but it’s hardware vs software. They’ll still buy the game.
Please be excited.

I continue to find it weird and just inconvenient that Sony has “claimed” basic numbering. We don’t see Google avoiding calling their newest device the Pixel 7 when Apple has the iPhone 14.

Switch 2 would be effective. More effective than some of Nintendo’s previous attempts at telling people ‘this is the new thing.’ I’m all for Super because it’s fun, but 2 should be on the table.

I know this is a little off topic, but God, that punishment is ghoulish as all hell. Like, I know what the guy did and the group he was apart of, but this is just excessive!
He'll do a surprise visit to Japan's Nintendo HQ for a Japanese style apology.

And maybe they'll lessen the punishment.

Sometimes Nintendo do feel like they're the Yakuza.

Good point. Plus Nintendo has never been into numerals. I just hope it’s nothing that confuses consumers. Then again, the Switch form factor is simple. A good marketing and they can do anything.

Please be excited.
laughs

Because of the potential confusion with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
Good point.

Also, maybe that store owner thinks the Super Nintendo or whatever name the Redacted is getting is a pro revision, but it’s actually a successor.

IIRC this guy owns a game store in Japan. Once tweeted about dinner he had with people in the industry. Not sure if he’s reliable but bro seems chill.

The person is a retail buyer for video game stores. A.k.a. the buyer uncle that we discussed a few times previously. Unlike the factory uncles, he posted very publicly on Twitter and the people in the industry know who he is. For those reasons, his tweets are extremely vague to avoid getting into trouble. In this case I don’t think that he meant the new model would literally be named “Switch PRO” (he also used the term “next gen” just a few days ago), but hinting that a more powerful model is coming (or so I hope).

I understand but I mean in this industry. Otherwise yeah, iPhone and Samsung and Pixel all do it but in terms of gaming consoles it's only ever been Sony and now would be a weird time for Nintendo to suddenly start. I think. 🤷‍♂️

It already leaked, years ago. "Switch Pro" rumours have circled for longer than Switch has been out. I do wonder if they were just lucky guesses, but even the earliest rumours had feature sets quite akin to T239.

It’s coming. We believe. Stand up Switch 2 Nation.

Since I’m not good at reading tea leaves, I asked ChatGPT what this tweet was saying:
Based on the additional information you provided, it seems that the tweet is referring to the release of new and improved versions of the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, which the writer believes will be produced and distributed by the manufacturers and wholesalers.

The "●●" in this context might refer to the market or consumer demand for these new gaming consoles, meaning that they expect a high demand for these products, and they are predicting that it will be "になるね" or "become" a significant phenomenon.

Overall, the tweet seems to express excitement about the anticipated release of these new gaming consoles and the potential market impact they will have.
A guess as good as any? It does sound like what a retail buyer would think.

P.S.: Just a reminder that last year buyer uncle already stated that there was a canceled Switch Pro. So whatever he’s hinting at now, I believe would be a new gen.

Edit: typo

Exactly , you can more think of Buncle as someone who bitches about his job in public in sometimes tantalizing ways more than someone who actually “leaks”.

Oh I knew you meant in gaming. I was just saying it’s silly that we all collectively insist Nintendo won’t do it because Sony does it, as though the rest of the world doesn’t readily associate incrementing numbers with progression.

Leadership isn’t the same as before, anything could happen here.

My sentiments exactly.

TEAM 2023 LETS GOOO!!! 🗣️

Why call it Pro when you can call it Super?
Why not both?
“The more, the merrier!” - Eggman
Super Nintendo Switch Pro
…Max Plus Knuckles, Friends & Dante

I don't understand why I've seen so many people say this, I never saw anyone mention a switch pro before the switch was released it doesn't make sense to me
Since the Switch was released, the fandom wanted a 4k capable revsion: a Switch Pro. Years later, come Pro rumors. Bloomberg was really into it. But then came the OLED revision. Years later, we learned that the OLED was 4k capable, but that was removed. So the theory is that the OLED was gonna be the Pro Switch, but possibly due to COVID, that was scrapped.

Personally I'm not sure it was "scrapped" per say as "another route was taken". OLED Model was the only console built from the ground up for the TV with Mariko. I think a 4K capable version could have been on the cards for it once upon a time, one possible outcome in infinite possible futures. Considered, but not so much "canned" as decided against. OLED Model is itself plenty appealing as a product just on the basis of being this generation's "XL".

So what's in the release pipeline for Nintendo now that Xenoblade is finished?
Goose egg.
Nada.
Zilch.
They even announced the Amiibo for Pyra and Mythra.

Nintendo runs out of track in July and everyone knows it.

Indie World, Amiibo, DLC, Mega Drive, and I'm sure something I'm forgetting like a Tears of the Kingdom character art drop, all on the same day. They're clearing their slate for something and just one game doesn't explain it.

We're facing the end of days, here. And for once, I'm in the doomsday cult!

Tu quid agas. Omne vivum ex Tegra.

It would be hilarious if the next Switch ended up being named Switch Pro. 😂. Afters all the years of speculation, then reports that it was a thing but got canceled, and then in late 2023 Nintendo releases the all new Switch Pro.

Thanks for the clarification!

Confirmed: Zelda, Pikmin 4, and Metroid Prime 4.

Rumored: FE4 Remake, F-Zero remaster, and the GameCube Zelda remasters.

So not much.
You forgot the rumored Paper Mario HD Remaster

We are less than six months from the Future.
But does it have hardware? xD

Interesting that the only things left are Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon DLC. One of which will sell like crack no matter what and the other could be a cross-gen release 0.0

I know that naming your next gen Switch "Switch Pro" is an absolutely awful idea, but I kind of want this to happen just for the chaos.

They're probably both cross gen releases at this point.

If we're counting Xenoblade DLC, then you should also count Mario Kart, Splatoon, Mario Rabbids, Pokemon, and (let's be real) Zelda DLC

I am still negative on the 2023 launch.
They must have rushed the release of other game DLC to get people to buy Holiday's 2D Mario as a priority.
Xenoblade 3 was originally slated for a September release, but there is precedent for moving the release up, probably due to delays in the development of Splatoon 3.

Definitely. For brevity's sake (read: laziness) I only listed games, since those tend to be bigger than DLC (no shit?) and have a chance of moving some hardware.

That sounds like a reach, but we do that here everyday. We'd probably make a good basketball team.

Switch 2 is coming this year. They’re getting all this stuff out just like that
Yeah, either they have a killing secret lineup for the second half of the year, or they indeed are launching Redacted this year/march 24, because if they’re expecting a draught for Switch titles, a Redacted ”delay” (aka not launching until late 2024) or riding the thing just with TOTK, Pikmin and some other port, it doesn’t make too much sense to me to launch all this so quickly…

Nintendo is famous trying to spread its release calendar to the extreme when they have few games, facing a difficult time or when unexpected circumstances wrecks their plans… so concentrating so much in the first half (usually a quieter period for them) followed by a mysteriously blank second half it’s a bit illogical.
