Rumour New Switch model for Q4 2023

It's pretty standard for Nintendo to squeak out a hardware revision a year or two before the successor comes out. Of them the one I would point to is Game Boy Pocket since that released over 6 years after the original game boy, within 2 years of the color.

I agree, which is why I said "with meaningfully different internals". They might do a lite OLED or a lite form factor that also somehow has a hdmi out or specialised dock, but those would still be the same machine under the hood.

Like DMX says “here we go again…so ol shit dawg just a different day…here we go again…you how we play when we play how we play.”

I wish this new model came last year, my Switch currently at the repair shop because the fan gave out and it's been overheating.

That and I REAAALLY hope this new switch has 4k capability and can run games at better FPS or render graphics better.

This definitely seems real based on getting so many details right three days before the event. Kind of hard to ignore that. I don't know. Kind of lines up with the fact that the back half of 2023 is a complete mystery for Switch with no E3 presence confirmed.

I almost want to believe this...

I can't confirm this info. My sources are still saying next year, but that is subject to change.

I could believe it, but I could also believe that someone got some info about the marketing video and then added the bits about terastal and Switch 2 to fuck with people.

That said if even outsource studios are aware of the hardware, and involved in performance upgrade patches, etc., then I would more should leak out soon. Regardless I've been thinking it will release in the upcoming FY anyway, so this rumor aligns with that.

Wouldn't be hard for someone who works at youtube, such as practicalbrush12 (RIP), to view the contents of the video, leak it, and throw in a bonus good troll to set the internet ablaze.

In fact, I'd say that's waaayyyy more likely than the alternative (it being a true bona fide leak about new Switch models)

A certain number of the press were allowed to watch this Thursday/Early morning Friday specifically print and traditional media journalists. I don't know where they got new NSW hardware from tho.

Right, I would expect that's what they're talking about here. Maybe a Switch Home with a bit more power at the cost of portability.

I’m getting a strong bout of doubtium from this leak. I feel it’ll be spring 2024 just like Switch was in 2017. I think Nintendo still has games to ride out the the last half of 2023 on the OG

The original Switch was planned for November 2016 before being delayed because the software lineup wasn't ready. So it shouldn't be taken as a typical plan to be repeated in the future.

In Japan too? This person got the Japanese names of Walking Wake and Iron Leaves right. Something you can't get from the translated version of the presentation.

guess the Switch 2 thing is just a joke then, someone knew the stuff from this event and added the hardware rumor

No, this leak has the Japanese names of the paradox mons. We don't know if there was a similar event in Japan. Still needs to be confirmed.

Though I think it should be even less likely to leak something from a Japanese event.

@LonkFromPA feel free to back out, no pressure, but I’m 100% down for that

if I lose I’ve already won because it means that a new Switch (2/Pro/Succ/Scissor) comes out in 2023

if I win, I get to gleefully dance through the halls of perpetual disappointment with a practically $100 gift card

Assuming this is true, I'm not sure it is saying a new switch model is coming when dlc 2 drops specifically, but rather new model would come the latest at that time, possibly sooner. Pokemon just wouldn't get additional enhanced support for it until the dlc patches/content. At least that is my interpretation.

The information that is bundled together here does seem strange though.

I want to believe it's true, and I will.

Switch 2 it's like a dream for some of us, but realisticaly speaking, it's just a better Switch. That's why I think we might have Switch 2 this year, we don't need to know it a year in advance, just a few months before. I don't expect a big event like the January 2017 event was.

I wish they keep the Switch lineup and announce a big chunky home console with 4K 120fps, but that's not going to be the case sadly...

Ehhhh.

My biggest issue is that it seems like way too much information for a single outsourced programmer to know. Like, I'm trying to picture what exactly is your assignment that you'd know, say, the names of DLC; that there's new outfits, let alone in 1.2.0 specifically; know that there's a turtle Pokemon and they're the headliner for a DLC; know that Paradox Suicine/Virizion are imminent etc. Even their assignment was a general "make these DLC areas look not janky from start to finish," such that they were aware of all this information, how did they know, say, Topopogos would be shown today and not saved for a later announcement? The only job I feel that naturally brings you in contact with all this information exactly is the PR department or someone who had access to the Presents' materials proper--which contradicts their assertion that they're a programmer (and in turn suggests they are not working on the graphical patch that makes this discussion interesting).

Just something about it feels sketch. Idk.

Sure thing buddy!

I'm not putting too much stock in this rumor, but if the 'Winter 2023' date for DLC2 actually refers to Fiscal Year Winter 2023 (ending in March 2024) I could see there being a graphics patch alongside a Switch successor releasing in march 2024.

Better Switch sounds boring

I'm also team 2023 for a Switch 2. Announce in July & release in September or October. Can't wait to play all big AAA 1st & 3rd party Switch games in stable 60fps with high resolution & high graphic

Software is what sells hardware.

Does anyone honestly believe a Switch 2 with a stellar first year lineup and no confusing, useless gimmicks wouldn't sell insane amounts?

I really hate Switch 2 rumors at this point. Just like the desperation people have towards it is really off putting to me. Those clickbait switch channels especially get way too emotionally invested.

I really appreciated how reasonable Switch discussion has been the last few weeks since the direct aired. Just being able to focus on actual real things to be excited for like TOTK and Pikmin 4 was refreshing.
