Could it be that instead of litetally travelling back and forth between the past and the present, Link now has the ability to restore a specific parr/region to its original/past state? I know this doesn't explain the apparently new race of people, but if Link does indeed travel to past Hyrule in TotK, the game is gong to be huge!
If there is time travel my hype level would go from 50 to over 9000.

Yeah well. Two things come to mind:

1. This game will be huge, vertically and horizontally alike.

2. Until now, Nintendo's marketing strategy failed to deliver any hype. The lack of any information make this leak looking big in the first place.
I’ve been saying it Nintendo hasn’t done a good job with marketing. Idc if your casual who doesn’t pay attention is hyped. They’re not the only consumer and they’re not the one who gives the Zelda team criticism.

Idc if the next trailer is bombastic. The game is 3 months away for arguably their largest game in Nintendo’s history and we still haven’t seen the game played for 1 minute. We haven’t seen UI or lots of this new stuff in the art. Just teaser after teaser. This last trailer was better for sure.

It sucks none of these Zelda YouTubers going to discuss it. I’m not saying showing it off, but make their theory videos when we already have seen stuff from this book.

I’d actually prefer a video of their hype levels from the artbook
If you’re talking about Zeltik and Monster Maze, both of them have said they don’t want to risk getting their channel in trouble with copyright strikes. A ton of channels got hit with strikes for the Deku tree Lego set. But they also said they don’t want to upset their loyal subscribers by suddenly dropping a spoiler thumbnail on them. So they’re choosing to avoid it.

I'm happy with either, tbh. The new mechanics, new customisations, new enemies and now lots of new places to explore(which is to be expected, obviously) along with new interesting-looking characters are enough to please me!

Which is definitely understandable.

I just know it's tearing Zeltik, Mr. Zonai himself, UP to not be able to drop another theory vid, though hahaha.

To me, this pretty much confirms the back of tematic dungeons, we are going to collect the tears of the kingdom from different temples all across hyrule.

While I don't support leaks as I feel they hurt the developers who spent years of their lives working on these games, I do wish Nintendo wasn't so stubborn with showing this game. Would love to see real content with it only being two and a half months out. I viewed the PDF and it has greatly increased my interest and hype in the game which beforehand was considerably low and I just think that goes to show that Nintendo isn't doing this game any favors continually keeping it buried in the dark. I don't need the full game spoiled or all the new stuff spoiled but it would be nice to see more then we have up to this point. I keep thinking Nintendo will start the marketing for this game "Any time now" lol.

It could be a return to the timeshift stone mechanic. Certain areas can be sent back in time.
I could see this, but I'd think itd be more like a story thing rather than a straight up mechanic utilized by the player. Like some areas of Hyrule are just warped back in time or merge somehow with their past selfs.
It definitely reminds me of this shot from the first trailer

Yeah I think it's pretty clear that's what this scene is depicting. Which if you think about it, every game which features Ganondorf heavily ties back to OOT, and to have a character called Rauru which is not a name that the series repeats, actively sealing Ganondorf is...bizzare to say the least.
I can't make out any malice here, looks way too washed out but it could be. The shot of the plateau in the recent trailer is from the present, so seeing green spirals there is natural.

As for time travel, like mentioned above, I'm definitely including a timeshift stone-like mechanic under that umbrella. That's why I'm still so curious about its implementation.
In the top left corner there's a ton of red and black. I'm pretty sure it's Malice. Also the shot of the plateau in the recent trailer is rebuilt like that previous shot from the book. That's why it looks so weird. It even has the same walkway.
This is Link.

It is but I'm curious if it's an actual piece of headwear for Link or if they just used him as a base. IIRC creating a champion did that for like one or two npc outfits. It would just be weird to have a headpiece that changes the color of his hair, but its not impossible. Like the blue lipstick tho. Lol

I’m not sure how they or other Zelda YouTubers are going to handle it, my guess is that they lay low for awhile and we don’t see anything from their channels which sucks because they are the best ones. I’m betting that the Marketing department is in full swing creating a new trailer, with almost everything in the Art book, if they weren’t already going in that direction to begin with which seems probable to me. So once we get an official trailer even if some of the art work isn’t in the new trailer it will just be all jumbled together in their theories without them out right saying that it’s from the art book.

I think we will be getting new info as soon as tomorrow (Zelda 37th anniversary) or around March 3 (BoTW 6th anniversary).

I looked at the first 50 something pages that are on nintendoeverything.com. Wow, we're in for a treat in May.

Edit: It's weird but Pokemon Legends Arceus leaking in full is what got me super interested in that game as what Gamefreak/TPC/Nintendo were showing wasn't enough to give me confidence it would be fun.

However, this is the Zelda team at Nintendo not Gamefreak, so some things I'd worry about with the latter is nothing I would even imagine concern trolling with the former. Just a fascinating situation all around.

NBC said that he won't be covering it either. Really having respect for Zeldatubers who chooses to keep heads cool on this one.

I'm not so sure if I am getting underneath the castle vibes from this shot in the Art Book, anymore, could be that its just so far underneath the castle. Still hard to tell at this point. It's clearly the beginning with Link with the Master sword still and the outfits.

Holy Crap just noticed this, where the heck is Link in this shot! This is definitely Zelda, and she seems to be alone and alive, just saying...

Could be a cinematic, seems likely this is part of the opening/prologue/whatever.

It could be, but it’s very odd to me that Link is not in this shot, especially since it’s such a wide view of the underground.

What do we think about this picture?

Weapon effectiveness based on the time of the day... will it possibly replace durability?
I don’t think durability will be replaced entirely because the crafting system was so big to the game, but it wasn’t well received I think so I’m sure they did some tweaking to it
Maybe that pic is something like those weapons won’t break or have more durability when used at those times of day.

I’m loving the art direction of this game. So much variety with a good mix of real world influences (Japanese, Chinese, Mayan, etc). It’s unfortunate for a lot of people that the art book got leaked… but I’m loving what I’ve seen and I’m more excited than ever.

I wonder if refugees will be a big theme of this game, I could see a lot of people being displaced across Hyrule by the disaster - the artworks suggest different races carrying belongings on mules and setting up makeshift wooden structures

This is going to be the game of the forever.

Underground, land and sky,

it looks so diverse and I can imagine the gameplay possibilities will be endless.

Hyped me up a lot more than the dull trailers.

This is presumably the very start of the game. The only other thing with Zelda in it is before Link gets the Arm, and we know those two are in the underground before the Arm moment happens.

Looking at the stone bench in the art book... There is a small link in it. It's hard not to associate him with the minish

Big emphasis on flora and its evolution through time.

I'm still not sure if it has actual time travel (as in, going back 1000 years in the past or so), but it's clear that time manipulation is the main mecanical gimmick of this game to me, along with crafting.

The more I see of the art the more it feels like a greatest hits of Fujibayashi’s work. Makes sense since this could be the last one with him in the director’s seat.

Ok, time for some theorising!

Regarding the map of Hyrule seen from the sky and possible dungeons:

So there seem to be 11 light glyph images on the map and depicted in the alcoves on the temple wall - do these represent dungeons? and if there are only seven tears, as is repeatedly depicted, does this mean:

-they do and you only need to complete any 7 out of 11 dungeons to fix the master sword? and beat the game
-the tears aren’t actually found in the dungeons
-the glyphs actually don’t represent dungeons in the game

I believe option 1 is most likely, which is really exciting.

Will these dungeons be underground, below the glyphs?
Or maybe in the past, temples stood where the glyphs are located - and we can summon them from the past and transform the map. They could also be located at the top of a series of sky islands above each glyph.
or maybe a mix of these options.

the map seems to depict an ancient pre-Hylian Hyrule
also one of these glyphs seems to show the new Sheikah slate

What do people think? @ZeldaPY @Serif and others

There’s a map?

What if we find out that the hand in the photos and person who has taken these photos turns out to be Anouma and it’s all part of their marketing cycle!

Been thinking about some of the pictures and how I just can’t make heads or tails about like, 80% of the things in the book. So many mysterious new characters and locations that I can’t wait to find out more about.

It’s funny to me that this is the sixth time I’m walking away from TotK-related stuff with more questions than answers.

2019: Ooh, BotW2 is happening! Where are they? Who is that? I hope there’s a proper trailer later that answers some of these questions.
2021: Ooh, a new teaser! What is he doing? What’s going on? I hope there’s a proper trailer later that answers some of these questions.
2022: Aww, delay announcement. What’s that? What’s happening? I hope there’s a proper trailer later that answers some of these questions.
2022: Ooh, a title reveal trailer! What are those? What is that? I hope there’s a proper trailer later that answers some of these questions.
2023: Ooh, another trailer! What’s happening here? What’s that over there? Seriously though, where are all the dang answers?!
2023: Shit, artbook leak. Who is that and what is that and where is that and when is that and how is that just give me May 12th already

May 12th playing the game: Finally we get some answers on what’s going on in this game!…. Wait who is that?! What’s going on? Where am I?

Yeah there's definitely a bit more here than you'd think at first glance, very much suggesting there are dungeons and that the pirate ship is one of them.

I'm really curious about the whole spool thing and what that means for Zelda having a role.

I got a totally different idea from this one, I assumed that it was a water-based enemy camp more akin to the multi-level treehouse structures from BotW with a chest

The reason I say that is
in the map room you see what looks like a pirate cutlass on the map near Lurelin, which is also where the pirate ship appears to be in the artwork

We’ll see! I suspect we haven’t seen that pirate? dungeon yet, we might just encounter that ship in the surrounding area

I think the cable drum and the new shiekah slate are a way for Link and Zelda to communicate. Both of them have it and maybe the cable is used for connection
