Spoiler The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Pre-Release Spoiler Discussion Thread (Tag Story Spoilers)

I kinda hope the Rauru guy is a part of a greater species. I'm really digging the way they look, and I'd like to see different types of them.

I finally completely caved, thanks for easy link. I’m stunned! With no disrespect intended to my favorite game of all time, This art book if fully realized will surpass BotW by leaps and bounds, which I never thought possible based on what we had seen. I mean I knew it was going to be good, but wow, at least we know what they have they have been doing the last 6 years.

Side note: Thanks for your rant in the other thread, I think you willed this leak into existence, as this leak should put an end to that discussion😊

Oh, interesting. Because of the new arm powers, I didn't even consider that Link would still be using the Sheikah slate two. Having 2 sets of primary powers will be interesting.
It does make sense, though, as it's the easiest way to keep the map and camera without having to get abstract with how the arm is used.

I look forward to going like this every few minutes or so once the game is out and I notice things from the leaks

@sanstea

I'm not convinced just yet that that is the the Great Plateau. It definitely looks like the shot we saw in the newest trailer but it could be somewhere else. Also while I do think that is the Forgotten Temple, nowhere in the FT has a staircase and door like that so it would have to be a different, previously unseen section of it.

It is the great plateu, the top view of it looks completely identical only not destroyed in spots.

And for the forgotten temple similarily, it has to be it. The construction of the entrance and its size are completely identical bar the staircase and door which don't really need explanation (just like there needs to be no explanation as to how the Statue of the Godess got there in BotW).

p. 146, 185

As we suspected, the 'tears' / magatama symbols from that stone carving are some kind of collectible. Looks to be in some kind of underground temple.

Fair chance there's seven of them (as the carving shows) for seven temples.

Not going to look at any of this (and I'm sure multiple people have posted this already), but just here to say that it's such bullshit that the game is having major leaks of new content before Nintendo actually showed us anything of any substance.

I'm almost inclined to look at the leaks just to confirm that there's a bunch of cool new shit in this game they haven't shown us, but I'm going to stay strong. I've seen people saying online that it's put their minds at ease, so that's reassuring I guess.
I think that’s what made me finally look at the whole book. I didn‘t want to do it this way, but damn Nintendo could have easily released some of this and not spoil too much and would have probably had a lot more people hyped for this game and alleviated some of the this game looks too similar crap. I’m also glad the beautiful imagery and context is vague enough to where it not feeling like I’ve been completely spoiled, plus it feels like most of the art work is possibly from early game.

Spoiler

I am completely confused on why they show cartoon link on page 108? We also see what looks to be A younger Impa, King Zora and older Purah, who ages backward, so either we are time traveling to the past or have some way of looking into the past is pretty much confirmed.

It's probably an Amiibo costume for Link's Awakening. I think younger Impa is just Paya. King Dorephan looks the same agewise. Purah is an interesting case and I think they even show her as a both teenager and adult.

Yes, there's a page showing all seven magatama in place at a central tower.

Additionally, that first image you posted is interesting because it uses the Sheikah star map background seen in the observatory where Ganon is fought and in shrines. The tears themselves, though, were first spotted on the Zonai mural, and in the image I posted above you can see the lotus flower motif again. I'm looking forward to seeing the connections between the two groups.

Going further, it looks like there's sand over the stairs and floor, which brings my mind back to this:

Very nice. The embedded gemstones in the walls, red tint, and the green tiling makes me think we've identified an 'Earth' or 'Desert' Temple underground / in a cavern as one of the locations of the magatamas.

Also I'm always amazed by the sheer scale of these structures indicated by Link's player model standing at the very bottom - that tower is freakin huge.

Any thoughts on this image its one of my favorite
Why am I seeing this image as being underwater? Underwater exploration is in my top 3 wish list, but I never thought we would actually be underwater

Very funny that a whole ass art book leaked and we still are no closer to unraveling the game's mysteries.

Couple of questions for those who have looked:

1. Can we say pretty definitely now that the Zonai are a big part of the game?

2. Is there anything about the shiny woman in the newest trailer who grabs Link's hand? Zelda, Hylia, new Zonai character?

We don't even know if that's Link's hand in the trailer.

I'm just happy we can finally put the "It's a pinecone." to rest finally, Also, I agree with what you said earlier, I am amazed that it looks like what I expected and hoped for, or even dreamed for, but even better.

I also think it is :) and this might be the same or similar place.

The zen garden circle patterns are intended to be water ripples in real life, so it is fitting they show up here.

Other than cooking some breakfast and playing one map in Fire Emblem Engage, I wasted my entire damn Sunday looking at leaked images of art book to a videogame.

Hell to the yes.
2. Is there anything about the shiny woman in the newest trailer who grabs Link's hand? Zelda, Hylia, new Zonai character?
Not that I've seen.

I'm also fairly certain it's Link's hand, don't know who else it might be.

Another theory that just popped into my head is maybe each dungeon has 7 tears/magatama to collect that you place on the lotus flowers to trigger opening the boss room. Similar to how the Divine Beasts have 5 Shiekah slate spots you need to activate to fight the boss. You could tackle getting these tears in any order you want so it stays consistent with the non-linearity of the game.

If the room with Hyrule map with those 11 symbols on the walls correspond with glowing runes then there might be more than 7 dungeons!

This could go either way. She could just be there waiting.
For me it‘s more about that the setting and the perspective is quite interesting, it looks almost isometric. I don‘t think that she is playable, but I could see there being some gameplay element with her, where Link solves some puzzles on the overground in order to progress her or something. But maybe I’m interpreting to much there. Otherwise I‘m interested how she will be implemented in the story anyway. When she plays a more active role in the main quest story and is not hidden away to some memories or a end cutscene, I‘d already be really happy

I’m wondering if he’s possibly a Zonai? We don’t know what they look like and having a significant one be the first we see could make sense.

Why do I feel like I'm playing "Tunic" all over again looking through this art book. I keep looking for the golden line :) Great game btw.

Nothing about the labyrinths and Thyplo Ruins in this book either. I'm sooo curious

Also you can attach a redead ribcage to your sword. What a strange game this is.

I left that discord. I don‘t like how much they like their 10 minute fame and are posting how they get covered by (the worst) YouTubers as if it is some kind of a trophy. Don‘t want to support that.

Curious about this group of people on pg. 33. If I had to venture a guess, they're an Explorer's Guild, with a compass symbol as their logo (shown on a paraglider skin) and shared patterning and color schemes on their uniforms. Interestingly Zelda's hood and cape appear to share some of the patterning, albeit with a custom design (either that or I'm hallucinating). I'm not sure where else that pattern shows up.

(Also someone tell me when to stop using spoiler tags)

Someone in Zelda Universe shared it to me so really you should be thanking them. Also yeah, it's a weird coincidence that right after I ranted yesterday we get this.

I was gonna disagree that it's a the Great Plateau but then we have this image:

Screenshot-20230219-222933.png

Which is definitely the Great Plateau (or maybe some other hill) based on the background. However you can make out Malice from Hyrule Castle in this shot, and in the shot of the plateau in the recent trailer, you can see one of the green spirals, so I don't think it's time travel. Something else entirely is going on I think. Like maybe some other realm is merging with Hyrule. Also I wasn't disagreeing that it is the Forgotten Temple, just that the room in the photo is a new room we haven't seen.

---------------------

Also I'm pretty sure it's Link's hand in the recent trailer. The Rauru creature doesn't have the full gauntlet like Link. Link's gauntlet has more stuff on the back of his hand.

notice how his gauntlets don't have as much on the back of the hands and have less jewelry. Also, this design is so freaking cool.

It could be a return to the timeshift stone mechanic. Certain areas can be sent back in time.

It definitely reminds me of this shot from the first trailer

I can't make out any malice here, looks way too washed out but it could be. The shot of the plateau in the recent trailer is from the present, so seeing green spirals there is natural.

As for time travel, like mentioned above, I'm definitely including a timeshift stone-like mechanic under that umbrella. That's why I'm still so curious about its implementation.

It's a giant costume head, probably some amiibo functionality that gives Link the cell-shaded design and helmet
I am not clicking spoilers but am poking through this thread and good lord this brings me joy lol

EDIT: omg even better it’s LA remake link cell shaded

If other Nintendo games don't allow me to craft weapons out of my fallen enemies, I am going to be disappointed. Mario better have some Goomba boots is what I am saying.

Serious question: this is a spoiler thread so why are we using spoilers on everything?

My guess is underwater temple/dungeon.

I am leaning towards time shift stones now after seeing the art work, but done in a different way. What I find interesting are the goggles that Purah has on her head, the Feather beak mask that link is wearing, as well as some of the other characters especially what looks like to be the Captian of a flying crew as designated by their outfits and the feather in their caps, just a guess. I am thinking that when you put on the goggles or mask, you will be able to view an area in a limited range in the past or possibly the future. I think I'm in the right ballpark but probably don't have it quite right as its impossible to say anything for sure.

Links feather mask, looks mechanical to me, it also has an emphasis of the 3rd eye in the construction in the middle. And Purah's has what looks like an anntenna in the middle. So if its not what I am suggesting, its definitely a way to see something you otherwise couldn't see with your naked eye. Also, what I am calling the Captian of the flying squad, has one of his goggle lenses missing, almost as if he would need one eye to see in the present, while at the same time have the other looking into the past. Probably my biggest stretch in my analysis, and then the next image of the woman. If you look closely her glasses are actually made up of what looks like to be two lenses of truth, the same pattern on the back of the new Sheikah slate and are the same as the ones Purah is wearing in another image. And since when does a bird need goggles besides looking cool has heck.

So there is definitely something fishy going on with the eye wear everyone has on.

The fact that people, including myself, are still using spoilers in a spoiler thread is pretty funny. Honestly, I think we're all subconsciously and telepathically trying to continue the spoiler train just for the hell of it.

It sucks none of these Zelda YouTubers going to discuss it. I’m not saying showing it off, but make their theory videos when we already have seen stuff from this book.

I’d actually prefer a video of their hype levels from the artbook

Could it be that instead of litetally travelling back and forth between the past and the present, Link now has the ability to restore a specific parr/region to its original/past state? I know this doesn't explain the apparently new race of people, but if Link does indeed travel to past Hyrule in TotK, the game is gong to be huge!

Yeah well. Two things come to mind:

1. This game will be huge, vertically and horizontally alike.

2. Until now, Nintendo's marketing strategy failed to deliver any hype. The lack of any information make this leak looking big in the first place.

As someone who has been pretty disappointed by totk so far, this artwork stuff does look pretty neat, whatever we are getting as dungeons/shrines look like they're gonna be a lot of fun. (But hopefully we still get some real dungeons as well, fingers crossed.)
