Truthfully there is a lot to do and having to constantly retrace routes can get tedious, especially if it's the difference between a three and four start photo depending on pose and it's just one Pokemon left. I do intend to complete the dex for at least one photo each of all in-game Pokemon, but once I do I'm quite content to hang the game up for a while; some of those people with an overal 4,000,000+ high score I know I won't ever touch. I'm quite content to be in the top 83,000 with around 2.3 million points haha
Yeah, I just hate about complaining about there being too much to do. I guess it's just the way you do it is what I have an issue with. It got tedius for me when I was doing the water islands. It really hurt the completionist part of me. Maybe the star system was just a bad idea. Some of the differences were so miniscule it was a little annoying.

I don't think Imran is necessarily wrong. It's one tweet about one review among many so I don't think it's worth getting upset over.

It's a pretty good template for easy jokes, though.

When you think your copy of Mario party will arrive today but instead it’s been sitting at your post office waiting for acceptance since noon yesterday 😦
Mario Golf at 2 million.

I say that’s a highly successful game.

Time for “Golden Sun 1 + 2 The New Age” right!?!???
More updates for golf at least

I like this guy but this is kinda a cringe take

Possibly Hot Take, but he has a point

Like, the tweet is bad but it's one example and now SMT fans will bring it up ad naseum to fit a narrative that SMT games are always unfairly compared to Persona, despite that rarely being the case in actual reviews (IGN's is an exception, not the rule)

Speaking of pokemon spin offs

they should put Pokemon Puzzle League on NSO

would love to play some online P.P. League. Gotta love that P.P.

We need Pokémon Pinball :( I've recently realized it's never ever been rereleased anywhere, and that's just unnacceptable.

If they were only going to release one of them, which would you choose?

So, ACNH updated eh?

Do I try again to get into it? I just don't understand. On paper, this game sounds like it was created for me. And Christ knows I could use the zen/escapism.

But I just...collect some fruit. Listen to the one thing the other islanders have to say today. Collect some shells...and suddenly there's nothing else I can do until tomorrow.

Why can't I get into this game?

I don't think it's a hot take. From what I've seen, this review seems to be the only of its kind this time around. Can't speak for anyone else, but at least I did not get upset about it, but rather focused on the instant memeability of it.

Why does SMT5 have to be 60+ hours >.>

I wanted to do a replay of Xenoblade 2 before next year's onslaught. And D/P remakes to make me feel like I'm back in high school.

This one has more structure to it by giving you direct control over your town's layout and terraforming, plus overt objectives that it updates regularly. Maybe you like it more?

Or did you mean you've tried New Horizons specifically, rather than the series generally?

If they were only going to release one of them, which would you choose?

Pinball 100%, since Puzzle Challenge is available on the 3DS at least and Tetris Attack is on NSO anyway.

The original Pokémon Pinball is still my favorite pinball game ever.

Both, lol!
Oh, damn.

Yeah, if New Horizons doesn't even do it for you, then I dunno lol. I do think maybe try it again, and pay attention to the little objectives for Nook Miles it keeps doling out on a rolling basis, that might give it some much needed structure for you.

Maybe...but IGN is also the biggest site, with the widest reach.

Yeah, I think Imma try.
Combination of waiting for SMTV and the fact that I have blank slate due to new OLED and didn't bother to back up the previous island seems to point in that direction.

The only good thing to come out of the IGN review of SMT V is the "Persona without the heart."

What a memorable meme this is gonna be lmao.

Jon had the better take

See this is all I asked for. Comparisons are nice especially if they are used in an insightful way. However, that wasn't the case for the IGN review because it really doesn't give you a good sense of what SMT V is like. I mean what if you haven't played Persona game what will you get out of the review?

Props to Jon he knows what's up. I loved his Tokyo Mirage Sessions review.

Yeah, I don't mind Persona comparisons when they're actually done with the intent of being used as a reference point to frame and contextualize discussion, and the best reviews of SMTV have done that; in fact, most reviews of SMTV have done that. Yet the IGN review is the only one people call out, not because SMT fans can't handle Persona comparisons (if that were the case they'd be calling out pretty much all reviews), but because the IGN review is more about how SMTV isn't Persona. Which... okay?

I honestly don't understand either what's the appeal of playing AC for months and months. At some point there is nothing left to do except from reading the same dialogue and seeing the same animations every day, but some people can connect to the characters in a level that it makes that fun for them.

But for what it's worth, NH did keep me engaged for about 60h until I completed the main story and did everything I wanted, so that was worth it for me. With the new content coming, it should add a few more hours to it too. I wish i could enjoy it for hundreds of hours like other people, but if I approach it like a normal game, it has enough content.

Yes, all of this and why I think Imran's tweet is unnecessary as it because pits all SMT fans as some sort of hivemind or monolith.

It's not like I don't think the fanbase isn't extreme because they are like any other fanbase, but in this case, it was a miss. All fans are asking is for the series to be judged for its own merits that's it. It's not a hard thing to achieve.

I understand why so many Metroid fans were anxious over Dread being unfairly judged and compared with games such as Hollow Knight and Ori lol.

Thanks!

Am I overly cynical if I suspect that this was entirety intentional? Either to drive clicks or just for attention.
This is why I see an issue with it and I don't care for either game. It's understandable to compare the two series, but something about that tweet rubbed me the wrong way.

Lol I meant between Pinball on GBC and Pinball on GBA haha

Oh lol I like both, but the GBC one is my favorite. It's harder and more nostalgic, and the OST is absolutely killer. The GBA one has also been rereleased on the Wii U VC, so it's at least more accessible.

Now that the miracle has happened for Snap, they should totally make a new Pinball!

Famiboards is like Resetera without the heart.🤡

I bounced off of Conquest, but I'd love TCG! It's just that TCG is also on the 3DS VC. Pinball is the only og spin off that is completely missing for some reason :(
So I did a quick search to see if maybe it was some kind of rights thing, but it doesn't seem to be that, apparently it was Jupiter developed. So... huh, that's really odd. I actually could have sworn it was on 3DS VC, but it's not.

Now I'm curious lol, I'm gonna look into this.

Lol, you stuck at it longer than me! I doubt I had more than a dozen hours. 😂
