The big emphasis of this game will be customization! The tweet for the website description says:
„The adventure is yours to create in a world fueled by your imagination“

We already had hints of this in the E3 2021 trailer where we saw a fire dragon head attached to a shield.

The exact same type of attachment can be seen in the newest trailer with the „Zonai“ bomb/canon weapon. It is attached to a stick.

The same symbol on the back of the canon can be seen on the wheel of the vehicle, which also seems to be a customizable object.

That symbol was also visible on the jade golem’s body. This golem pulls its body together using Zonai energy, like its head is acting in the same fashion as those mounted components, locking into the bottom piece with the symbol.

Heads up, Amazon Japan has started to list the Collectors Edition. Not orderable as of now it seems.

Keep an eye on your regional Amazon page and/or other retailers, maybe it's happening sooner than later.

So this time around we will be directly responsible for these weapons breaking down after a couple of uses :D

This game is going to be the sandbox to end all sanboxes. I mean it makes perfect sense. BOTW was all about experimentation with the game's physics and systems. TOTK will expand this in your arsenal and traversal options.

Jump to Youtube, there's prolly enough analysing videos that should last your for a full day of nothing but watching them.
YouTube analysis usually doesn't do it for me, except for Monster Maze and maybe Zeltik. Until they have something substantial up I'll just lurk on here to see more cleverer people post stuff.

I need some advice, peeps!!
So I recently moved to a very rural area, the only game shop here is EB games (they sell at full retail price), I can’t price match cause nothing around. I pay full price, I get it on release date

Alternatively, I can buy it online at another store, I’d save around $15/20, but it won’t arrive on release date, probably a few days later / I’d say Tuesday or Wednesday

I’m not someone that’s strapped for money, I don’t struggle, but I do like to save where I can. I want to get the cheaper option and wait but part of me is also like “it’s $20 who cares”. I also don’t think I’d have much time to play it on launch / over launch weekend because of my work and spending time with my partner.

ANYWAY I just want more opinions pls god bless
Go for the cheaper option. You won’t play that much that weekend, so no reason to waste 20 more.

Build vehicles using anything (?). Phase through any/most surfaces. Reverse time on any object.

This game probably spent forever with QA, all of this sounds like hell to design and balance. And who knows what other mechanics we're not privy to yet.

Just like Breath of the Wild in Europe since March 3 2017, Tears of the Kingdom is 69,99 € here (in gaming change, 1 € equals 1 $, except for Sony).

Welcome to the EU prices, Americans !

But hey, that could’ve been worse ! Imagine if you were french and wanted to buy PS5 games and a PS5 :

Did you know (gaming) ?
Every single Playstation 5 game you pay 70 $ in the US, they costs 85 € here.
The Playstation 5 costs 500 $ in the US. It’s 550 € in Europe & Asia.
Dude, I'm from Brazil, every single game you pay 85 euros, I pay over 500 reais (100 euros). :(

Who cares about weapon durability when we’ll just be able to ram into Ganondorf with our car?

Who says that Mummydorf doesn't have a larger car, huh? What if Team Star from ScarVio gave him is own huge ass Starmobile?

^^

Physics, especially, can be a bitch to QA. Looking forward to how big the QA parts of the game's credits are.

Kirby with cars was acceptable in the xontext.
The bike was already hard on the edge, but it was dls and well designet.

These soapcar/lego/playdo concauctions are looking horendeus and dont fit at all for me into that word. And all the horns glued onto enemies to. Its so...gaudy ... Hach. Botw rodecthe line between being taken serious and still having fun with aspects, this trailer jumped that line for me. (May the game itself is way better, but the trailer is not...)

At least the first track reminded me of escaflowne - dance of curse

Looking at the top image, especially Links arm ... maybe that's where he gets the magitek one?

Which would/could mean that the arm that keeps Mummydorf in hold in the 2019 trailer might be the arm of the previous Link, who sacrificed his arm for this alternative way of imprisoning Ganondorf?

Earlier we speculated there would be underground areas with luminous stones, stalactites, and 'malice nests' where Ganondorf's pure hatred emanates from. It seems that's exactly what this is. Look at the enemies radiating red and the malice water. It looks like we're getting our 'hell' to the sky kingdom's 'heaven'.

Fully agree. And I think the “kingdom” referenced during Ganondorf’s monologue is Hylia’s sky kingdom and “her allies” are the various factions of Hyrule. The “tears” are pieces of the sky kingdom falling as a result of the newfound malice / Ganondorf’s attack. Seems like Ganondorf may finally be going for the jugular and attempting to take out Hylia / Sacred Realm and not just Hyrule as usual.

Also, it definitely seems we’ll need to go to the underground to find Zelda and destroy the source of the malice / Ganondorf’s power. I’m hoping there will be dungeon like experiences beneath the surface and solving those will return sections of the main map like Death Mountain back to normal.

the fact that they haven't shown a dungeon once again just shows that they are trolling us and am all for it

Oh man, I love this slow build up. I'm going wild with theories and excitement over the possibilities and story. keep them coming fami!

This game is still looking like “here’s BotW that you already explored, a little altered with sky islands and some underground”. I know it’ll be more, but I feel like I’m just seeing what I saw in BotW with some of these shots of the fields.

I am like... I don't mind replaying BotW, we get THAT world + new world now. that's another 250 hours spent.

I know. I probably seem a little negative, but BotW is my favorite game of all time and one of the best aspects was just seeing something completely new. That was a huge appeal and some of that is already lost for me in this game.

No doubt the game will be amazing with BotW’s world + whatever more new worlds they add in for exploration.

I wonder if we can put this canon on Links shield and the fire dragon attachment on a stick. And how many other weapon attachments are there? How many weapon types are there on which we can put these attachments… 🤔

The bokoblins also seem to have weapons on their heads. We saw spears, axes, something that looks like the one hit oblitorator, etc. I guess these enemies will drop the weapon parts and we can then craft and customize weapons to our liking!

This game will challenge the players imagination and introduces even more aspects of freedom - freedom of customization!
Honestly this is perhaps the most disappointing direction they could go. Customisation is cool, but I simply value other things - exploration, story, moment-to-moment gameplay, unique elements - so much more. It's why New Horizons ultimately disappointed me, cause whilst it was a customisation fan's dream, it was mostly just that.

So I hope you're wrong lol - or that there's something much more to it than just "BotW but you can put a bunch of shit on your shield and make your own car."

I am convinced Nintendo is about to pull a MGS2 on us.

Zelda saying: "Please lend me your power." and her having a lite version of the Slate in that one art... I think there might be a Zelda campaign and a Link campaign.

I don't see how them expanding customization means less focus on other aspects of the game but what do I know.

I said it since 2019, Link is covering mainly Hyrule overworld and the Sky Islands, Zelda is mainly exploring the underworld and both cross paths a few times.

I’ve seen many people hoping TotK took so long because they’re implementing Elden Ring level enemy variety.

Now, while I certainly hope this game has more enemy variety than “let’s give the BotW enemies funny hats,” that’s never been Zelda’s thing. That’s the bread and butter of a Souls game. The bread and butter of a Zelda game is the puzzles and, more specifically with BotW, the physics. What I think they’re doubling down on here are the puzzles and physics creativity that allows for multiple means of solving. Hence this nuts and bolts stuff.

Now it’s just a question of how creative they let you get with this shit.

Back then I had this theory that they were going to split the Zelda team to reduce the gap between 2 mainline Zelda releases.
Considering the game looking this similar to BOTW after 6 years of development(COVID though) and the lack of new 2d Zelda games, I wouldn't be surprised if next 3d Zelda is closer than we think.

We both know this is not happening. TotK is the most expensive and the biggest game Nintendo ever worked on. And this is not how EPD groups work, basically TotK slows down other EPD projects too because it's taking so much manpower.

I don't know why anyone would expect Elden Ring's enemy variety for a Zelda game. Zelda games put emphasis on a lot of different things and in total are more puzzle-focused while Souls games are essentially completely combat focused. It's like complaining about Elden Ring having no puzzle box design.

Reminds me of people in the past always saying that Zelda games are overrated because they have worse combat than DMC or a worse story than Final Fantasy. Zelda games try to do a lot of things at once and that was always their appeal for me.

I have a few theories I'd like to throw out.

I think the sky Island's will be the dungeon equivalent. You'll traverse a set of Islands leading to a final structure that will house a number of puzzles than collect a new power and a tear there.

I also believe that Ganon and his minions have killed a majority of the citizens of Hyrule, which is why we see the glimmers in Heteno Village. We will cleanse the lands and hopefully be able to revive the people.

There will be a large twist halfway through the game possibly where toga Link comes in?

That’s not what was said though. She said “Please…lend him your power.”

For now I still not sure about the scope of this game but from what they showed until now it's not as ambition as BOTW.

Doesn't she says "lend him your power"? Not native english speaker though.
But in japanese I believe she says " (something I don't understand) kare ni chikara wo". "Kare ni chikara wo" ... power to him.

I really hope they're keeping Zelda a mystery because they've got something up their sleeves, and it's not just a story point. That being said, juggling characters (or co-op) doesn't seem very elegant.

As a different point: it's funny that they seem to have watched a lot of Magnesis Contraption videos and went "yeah, let's make that an official thing". That kind of creativity and freedom was a large part of why BotW went viral, and capitalising on that is smart. even though personally I think it looks rough

Come on Amazon.de. I neeeeeed that CE. Put it up, let me preorder it!

Just remember the devs said they got inspiration from RDR2. Expect some real life simulation stuff to be in TotK

Ah yeah, i will never forget when i built my own magitek car from rubble that fell from the sky and cruised through Mexico with it!

;D j/k

But so far i can't see any "direct" inspirations. ^^
