Honestly my spiteful hope is that TTYD redux does better than TOK and it gives hope for a more enjoyable Paper Mario in the future that returns to roots of unique and colourful characters, and if IS still refuse to go back to the better and preferable gameplay combat mechanics, then at least they find something that is actually good to control.

As long as Gamecube gets more love regardless than it has in the past 15 years since its generation ended from Nintendo I'll be happy, but until this Direct airs everything and nothing is on the table.

I went back to F Zero X on NSO last night and lo and behold the controls are now tight af! Better than what I remember on N64. I barely have to use the power slide buttons anymore because the Pro Sticks have that higher level of finesse. This bodes very well for the GX Remaster shadow dropping tomorrow! Let’s Go!!😁

I like setting out my expectations so that afterwards I can see whether my sense of disappointment is warranted or not. I try to be reasonable with these, but it has been a WHILE since my expectations were met.

Has to be there:
Zelda: TotK - Meaty trailer with both story elements and gameplay
Advance Wars - With release date
Xenoblade 3 DLC reveal

Need two of the following to be there:
Pikmin 4 trailer
Hollow Knight Silksong release date
Rain World DLC release date
One new game reveal (any first party IP)

Doubt it, but any one of these showing up would be amazing
Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime Remake
Donkey Kong
2D Mario
F-Zero remake

That's it. All of the first column, two from the second, and anything else is gravy. Should be doable.

Alright, here's my wish list that ain't gonna happen:

  • 3D Super Mario (could be Odyssey 2, could be a new thing, either works)
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker 2
  • Yoshi and Poochy's Wooly World port
  • Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn port
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link fully-3D remake, a la Dark Souls
  • Game Boy and Virtual Boy NSO reveals
  • SMRPG added to SNES NSO
  • Snowboard Kids 1/2 added to N64 NSO
  • StarFox RPG a la Mass Effect reveal
  • New 2D Metroid reveal
  • New Mario Super Sluggers reveal
  • LeBron James in NBA Courtside reveal (but rather than a sim, it's an NBA Jam/NBA Street arcade-style game, but 3-on-3 instead of 2-on-2)

I expect to get exactly one of those things tomorrow, no more.

All the usual suspects of GameCube remasters (Skies of Arcadia, Eternal Darkness, Doshin the Giant, Odama)

I’ve never experienced this feeling of… security before a direct.

I’m like not worried at all, they just have to show TOTK which they probably will and I’ll be fine

Normally I’d be fearing for Metroid, praying for TOTK, wanting some big surprise but no… I haven’t even given much thought to speculating what else could be in the direct
 
Predictions:
  • Tears is going to be so impressive that I’ll lose sleep thinking about it
  • A bunch of GameCube remasters that aren’t updated enough for me to care about

Since Nintendo showed the first trailer for TotK nearly 4 years before the games’ release, then we can expect a BotW Remastered trailer in this Direct since the 10 year anniversary is in 4 years.

Zippo apparently said so in one of his “predictions”? But it’s Zippo, LOL
GCN-Wii remasters seem to be the current rerelease focus in general, though. Prime is heavily rumored, F-Zero GX is heavily rumored, the two Zelda remasters seem to already be finished and on the backburner, TTYD is just sensible due to it’s popularity.

That being said, it will never ever happen.

I am usually pretty satisfied with most directs. September was one of my favorites in recent years. That said, I don't really need much from Nintendo rn other than Zelda, a proper trailer maybe.

Most of my favorite series are on switch, and two of them (Xenoblade and Fire Emblem) just got new entries. Xbc3 dlc would be welcome (a tease at what the major story expansion will be about). Fe4 remake I don't expect this close to engage

Otherwise, Advance Wars would be dope if they decided to actually pull that out.

yikes, you aren't going to like the Farmio spin off series which includes a series of Farmio led GC remakes starting with The Thousand Year Door (The Thousand Year Door ReHarvested), Farmio Party and Farmio Sports games and Super Farmio 3D Platformers. The fun bit is, the farming constantly cuts into the RPG, party games, sports and platforming, so you'll never get bored of any of those more niche gameplay styles!
 
Did torna get teased in multiple directs? Because I could see XC3 expansion being teased after a wave 3 reveal, but I don’t see it being released before a possible June direct

That's probably why it ended up getting cut. I wonder if they will bring back the idea for Tears, I do love the Minish conceptually, and I especially love bringing back weird legacy races in Zelda games (like they did with the Rito in BotW).
