Ew no, I hate Paper Mario, way too cute for me. IntSys's next project should be Codename STEAM remaster AND a sequel. I feel the story left unfinished there.
Abe is still alive!

For a new Mario RPG, Nintendo needs to form a new studio out of ex AlphaDream talent and greenlight a M&L Project called: Mario & Luigi Lost in Wario World!
Paper Mario is a near certainty every four years or so.
It’ll happen, whether you like it or not.

I want them to go for a new Paper Mario. The Origami King feels like a 2d Zelda game in style (even if it has 3D elements) and I want Paper Mario to go fully into the adventure/puzzle gameplay.

...Also want to see Mario perform Brutalities on bosses and get away with an E rating because they look like inanimate objects...

Codename Steam. It was a victim when people thought Metroid was going to be announced at that one E3. Didn’t that game sell poorly?
Yeah I think so. It was great to see IntSys try their hand at something different, but it really didn't catch on.

Was the whole team working on Federation Force?

2013: LM2
2016: Federation Force
2019: LM3
2022: Strikers Switch

It feels like this is getting pretty consistent
It's also been reported that the company has grown. I'm pretty sure it was also reported that the goal is to get them to work on two games at a time. A lot changes in a few years.
I don’t buy that applies to remakes/remasters at all. For new games, yes, but bringing back something like TTYD should be fine, especially when it’s one of the most requested Gamecube games.
I mean it doesn't matter for NSO stuff. It's not the same but maybe a sign that the "rule" is for new games.

Nah, let's go for maximum salt. Nintendo announced a ToTK direct and it's 50 minutes of:

At the end of the 50 minutes he finally looks directly at the camera, opens his mouth, takes in a breath...and the direct ends.

My reaction (can't embed clips apprently ?) :

Now i’m just wondering if the next 3D Mario hits the Switch or not.
If it’s on Switch, I don’t see how it can’t be Odyssey 2, despite an engine change.
Seems like a waste to do two entirely brand new 3D Marios on the same system.
But hey, if it happens, i’m not complaining.

not speaking to anyone here on fami, but jesus watching people spin a thread of DOOM rooted entirely in their uneducated and overhyped beliefs of Nintendo after this morning's "news" is the worst
That is why I'm excited for Fire Emblem Engage to take me away. I also watch football so this weekend will be all about the TV whether it's gaming or sports. This place and the other place are not where I want to be right now lmao. I'm just here cause I'm on break and bored.

I doubt it. I very much see a 2D Mario coming to switch though. Might as well save the next 3D Mario for the next system. I guess lmao. I don't know. Nintendo is weird haha.

Very curious if the Splatoon 3 DLC or TotK one will be part of Expansion Pack right away. I think they will only do it with Splatoon I feel.

I wouldn’t mind a new M&L as long as its done right. Give me one with a hand drawn art style to really make those bros attacks fully realized with its goofy exaggerated cartoony aesthetic.

A lot of late in life 3DS titles sold pretty bad, including Ever Oasis. But I think both need to be given a second chance as both had some big potential. Tough I acknowledge that the turn based audience is not a mainstream one.

Oh ok. Glad to know the full info. EPD 9 doesn’t need to be making mobile games. I’m kind of disappointed because I expected another brand new game from them on the Switch.
Still weird that 3 ARMS directors are not credited in Tour or even with something else. But yeah, seems it's 2024 with new Mario Kart from them.

Has there been anything new about Borderlands 3 since that PEGI rating last month? If it runs well I could see that pulling decent numbers on Switch.

Separate from my desire and expectation for a PM remaster

I am also expecting a Mario RPG Revival. If Live A Live can come back, and SE is happily pumping out a ton of smaller projects in HD 2D and similar engines... it just makes too much sense. Make. It. Happen.

My thoughts on Prime 4

1. It's being designed for Switch (unless it had another cancellation and reboot in like 2021)
2. It's probably the Nintendo franchise least suited for low powered hardware so it's an awkward fit with the Switch 1 in 2024.

This is a graphical powerhouse franchise that has struggled a bit to adjust to Nintendo's shift away from top tier hardware (with three console games since 2004) and I'm not sure what direction they'll take now.
I think they would try really hard to not cancel/reboot the reboot. It was a public announcement which is also very rare for Nintendo on that matter.
Personally I hope it is a 2023 game. I think this year the switch will still have a strong momentum and software could still benefit from that Switch boost, especially software like MP or Pikmin that are not very big normally. I don't want this to release on a end of course system, so the sooner the better.

Luigi is going to die in Mario Movie. He sure is panicking.

I mean...it kind of already came and went. It was the Mario + Rabbids games, which honestly feel like a continuation of the spriit of Mario & Luigi even if it's a different genre. Hell Sparks of Hope feels like a Mario & Luigi games with the Rabbids taking place of that one thing that consists of an entire race of people and monsters. I legit forget that there are Rabbids in that game because they don't act like annoyances and have actual personalities.

...and it underperformed so...that was a fun revival I guess?

Yesss. It would be a great idea for a refresh of the RPG line, too

Sorry, but what rule or restriction are you refering to? 😅
This comment from Kensuke Tanabe explained why we don't see the original characters or visually distinct Mario baddies as partners anymore:

"Since Paper Mario: Sticker Star, it's no longer possible to modify Mario characters or to create original characters that touch on the Mario universe.

"That means that if we aren't using Mario characters for bosses, we need to create original characters with designs that don't involve the Mario universe at all, like we've done with Olly and the stationery bosses."
So no archaelogical spelunking Goombas, no salty sea-faring bob-ombs, no punk rock mohawk Yoshis, no ditzy and forgetful postmaster paratroopa, no mafioso piantas, not so much as a toad that's aged, no nothing.

But I find it hard to believe that they are doing that since 2017, after all Yabuki was tied to Tour until at least it's release in 2019. Maybe they had something cancelled? Always a possibility.
It’s possible a new ARMS is coming this year. There’s ALWAYS a game or so announced no one saw coming. A sequel to ARMS would’ve had plenty of development time by now

Oh, thank you for your answer! I didn't know that

I'd love to see another collab with Velan studios too. MK Live was fun
If it's in line with Knockout City. I don't want any more games requiring plastic toys, let's bring down our polymer consumption to save the planet. Instead Velan should do more sports titles on Switch, they seem to be pretty good at it. They can try their hand in another Mario Hoops perhaps?

yeah, they've proven they can handle two very different kinds of games successfully. Would be a very smart partner to align with ala Next Level games!

I think he meant the Mario RPG title.

Even then, I don't think M+R are a true continuation of Nintendo's Mario RPG series. The tone is just very different.
