- You'll get 4k HDR I believe.
- Joycons will be the same or have some sort of new gimmick (analog triggers? better haptics?)
- RAM will likely be 6GB or 12GB
- They are most certainly going to go with UFS 3.1 instead of an SSD
- Storage won't be swappable if it's UFS (microSD for game saves and media captures not withstanding)
- The display is likely 720p OLED like in the current OLED, it's HDR compatible already I think? 60hz
- They might add textured grip to the joy-con's, it's nice to have textured grips on the Xbox Series controller
- VRR will probably be supported
i mean, i put them as i want them, but i do have my own prediction which one are realistic.
Some form of 4k (DLSS) will be advertised. that's what im about, i don't expect native 4k.
i don't expect a new gimmick, i actually expect them to pretty much stay the same...
actually i expect them to take a page out of Microsoft and Sonys book and have a "deluxe" variant.
Ram... honestly, if its 6GB then its a dead release. no chance 6 is enough for modern games AND resolutions above 1080. 8 is the baseline we should expect.
UFS or SSD, i see those as "the same". Meaning: way faster then eMMC and with that to fast to have games stream simply from an SD card.
The display... worst case they use the same as the OLED. But for 450 i would find that kinda weak.
I think it is, to. not sure.
From your mouth to God's ears, but I am dubious about HDR
they wouldn't dare. Then again, the X1 was already HDR capable as far as i remember ...
Strong evidence for micro SD express, weirdly enough? I guess the thought was that as long as they were supporting MicroSD for ubiquity reasons, and as long as they had the PCIe lanes and NVMe support, might as well make it work so that if you really do want to go all digital and want to spend as much on your storage as you do on the console itself, you might as well get the full speed.
are there any devices, available or announced, that have micro SD express?
As it stands, consumer devices (Meaning smart phones) are starting to move away from expandable storage. And honestly, the need for faster storage is not there. SDs are fast enough for 4k recording,
and with people already pushing everything to the cloud ... pros have other solutions (SSD expansions,...). I don't see a future for SD express outside of nintendos needs.
Only if we get a new jump in fidelity that is worth it (-> holographic displays or something like that,
where the amount of data would need to increase by a ton). People already don't care if their 4k is high bitrate or not, not to mention that nobody sees a benefit for 8k... and people are still for 24 fps for movies.
Medium term, 720p panels might become hard to acquire, just because of market forces in the phone space. Moving to 1080p might actually save them money over the life of the device.
man I hope so.
Yeah, same. 1080p even with sub native would be fine for me.
