Hopefully it's Fates 2: We Learned Our Lesson and not Fates 2: We Doubled Down. This really is looking like Fates 2. Good gameplay and lots of small things outside of battle to do with polarizing character designs, especially the female ones.

This looks more like Heroes as a proper console game. Aside from the gacha rings, there are mode names and gameplay elements pulled straight from FEH.This really is looking like Fates 2. I could be wrong, but does FEH require real money to access most of its content? This looks more like Heroes as a proper console game. Aside from the gacha rings, there are mode names and gameplay elements pulled straight from FEH.
FEH doesn’t require any money at all. Everything is accessible, it’s more a matter of real money making it quicker to get the currencies to make the incremental upgrades to units. Otherwise there’s a finite amount of the currencies you use to pull new units (and you want many duplicates of a unit to merge and upgrade them) that you can get from the missions as you can only get them from a mission on the first clear.I could be wrong, but does FEH require real money to access most of its content?
If you consider every rare version of every unit unique content then no, it's probably not possible to truly get EVERYTHING in any gatcha game without being a massive whale or god tier lucky, FEH is no exception. If the comment is "beat all the games content" then yeah, most gatcha games have to ride the line between being possible for freemium players to do everything while trying to incentivize them to go from "players to payers". If said game has a pvp element then freemium players have no hope of beating whales most of the time.FEH doesn’t require any money at all. If you play a mission a day all year, you’ll soon have a strong enough team to tackle stuff. But if you want many copies of your favourite characters from limited-time banners (which are like a selection of 4 available for a couple weeks only) that can be hard with the currencies.
I played for a couple of years and then gave up. It’s enjoyable enough to collect your favourites, but it had become a daily task I was literally doing on autopilot 99% of the time.
FEH's PVP arena mode is kind of a community joke at this point because the upper echelons are dominated by whales with minmaxed units. If you consider every rare version of every unit unique content then no, it's probably not possible to truly get EVERYTHING in any gatcha game without being a massive whale or god tier lucky, FEH is no exception. Do we know yet how/if any of the side stuff in the Somniel affects general gameplay and improves units or anything like that? While having side stuff to do is nice and all, I worry that it'll be treated more as a 'bonus' this time around. The thing that made me love the monastery content in Three Houses is how everything you did filled up various meters and added to unit progression in some way or another (more teaching points, building up the statues to give blanket stat buffs, etc.), so everything tied together quite nicely. Without that added mechanical hook it might lose me a bit.
- Tower of Trials at the furthest end of Somniel allows you to partake in various challenges
- Tempest Trials: trial where you play through several consecutive maps. You can choose from multiple difficulties.
- Relay Trials: You and another player work together to clear a map, taking turns.
- Outrealm Trials: You can create your own map and upload it for other players to complete, and play on other people's uploaded maps.
I imagine at least some of these are going to function like auxiliary battles from Three Houses, granting rewards and EXP. It's hard to say without more detail, though.Do we know yet how/if any of the side stuff in the Somniel affects general gameplay and improves units or anything like that? Again my point wasn't "can a freemium player beat everything", but "can a freemium player get every unique unit" and just by the nature of the gatcha slot machine the answer to that is no. For me having all the characters is more important then being able to beat everything as odd as that may sound. It's why the only gatcha I was able to stick with for years was Record Keeper as the gatcha was for legendary weapons and not the characters themselves like so many others. It's why I quit FEH super early because it was quickly becoming apparent I was gonna keep missing my favorite units due to bad rng unless I whaled and I'm not about that life.FEH's PVP arena mode is kind of a community joke at this point because the upper echelons are dominated by whales with minmaxed units.
That being said, the game has plenty of content that is entirely doable without spending money. As gacha titles go, it's one of the more generous out there, I'd say.
Going back to my original point though, Engage does appear to be taking quite a bit of design inspiration from FEH, from the use of SP to acquire skills to Tempest Trials being a thing. Anyone relatively new to FE that jumps into Engage from FEH will probably be relatively comfortable in terms of how much is familiar.
"Slashing more than prices" . Thats the dweeby energy expected from her
Based on all the information that I've seen from the trailers and the Japanese website, I would say yes.Do we know yet how/if any of the side stuff in the Somniel affects general gameplay and improves units or anything like that? Oh, I didn't mean to come across that way. My apologies.Again my point wasn't "can a freemium player beat everything", but "can a freemium player get every unique unit" and just by the nature of the gatcha slot machine the answer to that is no.

Keep in mind, Engage Anna is apparently years younger than the typical Anna, by the sounds of it.I frankly don't like Anna's new voice, it's too high-pitched, but then i googled this Karen Strassman and yeah... i'm glad she's out
She did. That being said, she has also voiced younger characters like the grade-schooler Nanako in Persona 4.Didn't Karen Strassman voice Anna in Three Hopes? I'm guessing it's a different VA because Anna is a lot younger in this game, lol.
She sounds great.Yeah, I guess that's true lol ↑↑
Although, to be perfectly honest, I wish they would've gone in a similar voice direction for the new VA if they wanted to drop Karen Strassman, I actually think the new voice sounds kinda terrible. Hopefully most of the English VA in this game is still at the level of quality of previous games.
It's the holiday for Japan.Interestingly, it seems like there isn't any Twitter posts tonight? The day the Engaging With Emblems trailer first dropped, they also "skipped" the Twitter posts until (iirc) around 10PM Japan time (which is when the trailer was released), so I wonder if we're about to get another big trailer? After all, the recent trailer was beginner-focused, and didn't really have much new shown off (besides the gameplay itself), and it was posted early on Monday in Japan. Perhaps to make room for another trailer this week?
I don't think it's weird, I'm very similar! I already know that the combat and tactics are going to be good, at least I assume so, that's what Fire Emblem does. It's the other things in-between that really link things together and make or break the game for me, and downtime activities and social stuff between battles is a huge part of that.Is it weird to say that the "there's a cool home base you can do a bunch of random shit in," trailer sold me on the game far more than any of the other ones? I'm genuinely interested now whereas before I was very apprehensive.
Aww yeah, new tweets again! This time about fog of war, the heafvy armor combat style (it blocks breaks) and Micaiah's video!

The translation says you can use torches or lit bonfires to light the area. So it's both I guess. So it looks like torches are actually planted in the ground to deal with fog of war this time?
Makes sense. It's also interesting that units apparently can't move into spaces that are fogged over. The translation says you can use torches or lit bonfires to light the area. So it's both I guess.

Yeah, noticed this too. Not sure I like this, feels like unnecessarily limiting your way to deal with Fog of War maps.Makes sense. It's also interesting that units apparently can't move into spaces that are fogged over.
Wasn't it always like this when Fog of War was first introduced?Yeah, noticed this too. Not sure I like this, feels like unnecessarily limiting your way to deal with Fog of War maps.
Previews will drop in 30 minutes, right?
No, the first fog of war you could still go inside the fog but it was all black and you couldn't see any terrain either, not just enemiesWasn't it always like this when Fog of War was first introduced?
