There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension is on sale for an all-time low of $7.79 or so. Anyone recommend this one? Is it more like a browser interface type Point 'n' Click (like Hypnospace Outlaw) or more like a traditional PnC (like Röki) or something else entirely?

I can really recommend this one! It's really hillarious. Make sure to go into the game unspoiled. It's sort of point-n-click, drag-n-drop, and more. Works great on the Switch.

Just got that Deku Deals x31 price drop email, let's see what's crackin'.

Indie World sale just dropped and there seems to be a lot of all-time low prices on the eshop!
This one has plenty of games that I don't own, so I'd better complete the collection. Nobody Saves the World, Tormented Souls, Spelunky 1 double dip, Garden Story and Art of Rally.

Polyroll and the two Shovel Knight recent spinoffs are grabbing my attention from the new sale. I was hoping for a Sonic Origins sale but I expect we'll get one soon.

I also do not like Supergiant games and frankly Hades, while their best work, would still not be something I’d say I particularly liked. The production is astounding and I do like the effort to cater to non-roguelike fans especially in the story department. However, I didn’t really get addicted to the gameplay loop like I did with Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire. The combat is polished but it’s lacking a few extra bits of ooomph to really reel me in.

I ended up just seeing as much of the story as I could then stowed it away. Meanwhile I still return to other roguelikes.

I couldn’t get into Bastion or Transistor at all either and while Hades has some visual similarities, it is in a different universe in terms of how it feels to play and how engaging the premise is. I still have some big criticisms of Hades as a roguelite, but it is a vastly more enjoyable game than their earlier stuff (though I haven’t played Pyre, but that one looks nice too)—definitely worth giving it a shot

I kinda feel the same about these two games as well but Hades is my favorite roguelike, my 2020 GOTY, one of my favorite games on Switch and a top 3 indie game for me

The biggest difference I would say is how defined the gameplay loop is. Bastion is a pretty game and was pretty hyped back then, it apparently had Zelda and Diablo inspirations but it doesn’t scratch either of those itches at all, it’s a pretty straightforward action game. Transistor is the same, it’s even prettier and more unique but besides battling you don’t have much agency throughout the game, like you get lore dumps for reading the terminals and unlocking the character backstories by using their abilities but that’s it. Hades has a much stronger hook than either of those games. First off the roguelike structure obviously spices things up. It’s a faster paced game as well so you feel much more powerful in action. Now the thing is that Hades actually encourages you to try different builds, you get to choose with which god you get to max your relationship level with first. This gives you a level of agency that isn’t really present in their previous games. Speaking of builds, the game has great balance, no runs feel dead since you always can make the most of what you get. I feel like a problem with a lot of roguelikes is when they have huge difficulty spikes, or when they are way too rng dependent so unless you get the right loot and synergy the game simply isn’t fun. Hades is one of the rare roguelikes that don’t fall into this trap at all (the only other ones I played so far that do this well are Slay the Spire and I guess Vampire Survivors). It’s definitely a no brainer, even if you end up not playing it until you get the true ending you’re still looking at a solid 15-20 hour action game for half price at worst, go for it tbh
I never remembered to reply you all, but I did end up buying the game. I haven't actually played it yet, so I can't say much yet, but thanks a lot for the comments!

Gato Roboto is soo good and is $2. Don't let the monochrome palette turn you off, it has palette options (though still monochrome). If you like the Metroid part of Metroidvania but wish you were a cat, then just get it already lol

I'm gonna echo what others have said: I really recommend this one; it's a funny, charming point-and-click game with just the right length and difficulty so as to not overstay its welcome.

This is like a perfect game for what is it. Everyone should experience this one.

I guess I'm the only dissenting opinion on There Is No Game hahaha.

Ended up getting Shinsekai. Capcom really got a lot of money from me this year. I'm also looking into getting Wintermoor Tactics Club, it's only 5 bucks and I'm itching for a tactical RPG.

Big fan of Wintermoor. Really fun characters and story.

Any impressions on Floppy Knights? It looks totally my thing since I love strategy games, deck builders and also the Dicey Dungeons art style... I guess I am just asking for Switch impressions like how good the controls translate to it.

I got some eshop gift cards last night! I’ve got $60 to blow. I’m thinking Hades, the Shovel Knight collection, and Stanley Parable. Stanley Parable isn’t on sale, but oh well.

Can’t go wrong with the Shovel Knight games, they are all excellent platformers! I still prefer the original but they are all great.

I played Dig earlier this year and enjoyed it. I think I’ll like the non-roguelike games even more.
The main theme of SK, ‘Strike The Earth’, is so good!

I’ll always remember where, between stages, there are campfire scenes. If you dig over a campfire to put it out, there’s a little in-game achievement called ‘only you’ that pops up. It really made me smile :)

Heads up! Windbound is just $2 in the Americas eShop. Excellent game, devs didn't abandon the game and worked hard to make it better after the launch.

Thanks, grabbed it. Totally flew under my radar. Seemed to have gotten mixed reviews but I've spent $2 on worse things, and how could I say no to another Wind Waker like

Ignore the reviews, they were based on the launch build of the game. It's so much more different now, for the better. Added tons of content, tweaked the controls and combat and addressed the framerate issues.

Would anyone happen to have any experience of Wildfire after the 1.03 patch? Initial reviews referenced some performance issues, but that patch supposedly made big improvements. I have a copy of the game on Steam, but would probably be more likely to play it on Switch. It's one of a few on my wishlist from the sale that's ending imminently.

A couple recommendations for folks from the current sale:

Bug Fables is at its lowest price ever, $10 down from $25. It's a Paper Mario-esque RPG with an excellent cast of characters, engaging and creative battle system, compelling world and engrossing sidequests.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is also on a deep sale, $4.50 down from $30. For fans of DKC-style platformers, it's a spiritual sequel to the original trilogy made by some of the same people who worked on those games. It's a really tight, excellent platformer with sublime level design and collectibles and a lush and inspired OST. Completing the titular Impossible Lair is a serious gaming treat, too. I really hope we get a sequel one day.

A new puzzle game find: Puddle Knights. New for me anyway, it's actually an early 2020 release. Anyway, there was a demo on EU eShop and it was really promising. I also just find the idea of making protecting nobility from walking in mud your central gameplay mechanic very funny

Heads up, Puddle Knights is currently €2.45 on at least the EU eShop!

I love this game, and would like to see a sequel as well! Initially I thought the level alteration mechanic would be just lazy gimmick to reuse assets, and maybe it is, but it actually makes quite interesting changes to the levels. The light 2D Zelda-esque overworld is surprisingly fun too, and the setup where you are able to beat the game whenever you'd like (or are able to) works great. Heavily recommended!

I bought this (double dipped as i own it on ps or xbox, i forget).

Great game, load times on switch seem a bit too long though imo.

Looking at the new sale, has anyone played FIST on switch? How's it run? I could get it here or on PlayStation.

I looked into this earlier in the year and the consensus seemed to be that while it runs fine on Switch, it's significantly better graphically on PS4/5 - which is where I played it and had a great time.

Has anyone played Mundaun on Switch? It’s 50% now, it’s on my wishlist but wondering how it runs/looks on Switch

Can someone confirm something for me, no matter how far you make it in Hades, if you die you have to start back over from the beginning?

Shit. Thanks.

It's not that bad -- once you've got it figured and got a number of upgrades you just blow through the first two worlds in like 10-15 mins. A whole complete run of the game takes maybe 40 mins?

It's also narratively structured to have you keep dying and going back to the beginning.

You also keep some currencies and can upgrade some stuff permanently. So you make some progress.
Thanks.

Best Diablo game available for switch?

They are both great, but if you don't have nostalgia for Diablo 2, then it might feel a little dated.

The action and gameplay in 3 is great and it runs really well on Switch. It's one of those games I always find myself going back to because it just feels so good to play.

Nintendo couldn't have done a lamer sale for their christmas/ new years sale.

I will wait longer for Mario Golf/ Strikers, Animal Crossing and Three Hopes.

At least theres a lit of good third- partie sales going on :)

Eager to see the NY sale from Nintendo in NA, but it may not be till next week. Last year it started January 6th-7th.

I dont even want anything from Nintendo from the sale but I hope the NY sale has some other stuff on my wishlist on sale.

Idk I havent been feeling the major sales this year, but here's to hoping lol
