I'm pretty certain I got every single first party made/published game this year lol

I would have also picked up Advance Wars if it came out this year too

My shiny luck continues with the Famiboards snow e.g. I have not encountered it

But on the bright side I won a hundred bucks from a party game, and it only cost me a negligible amount of dignity

I played my Switch more this year than any year before.

Sure, a lot of that time was on the N64 app! But who cares!

Welp. Accidentally took a night time cold pill. I guess falling asleep while watching Netflix or anime is on the schedule real soon.

We down for some fun memes?

What're y'all's best nicknames? Tbh my only good one is Scovillain as 'SpicyBumHole' and I need some inspiration

I really loved both, for sure

also, more recently, absolutely loving Inscryption and The Punchuin

if you go for Inscryption, do not look ANYTHING up about it beforehand!!

only go for it if you’re down to be spooked and enjoy a little forest goth in your life

Edit: okay, it probably helps if you also know it’s… more or less a “card game”

but it also appeals to people who don’t care for card games
I am very interested in Inscryption, actually. I just didn’t see it in the sale! Those kids empty my bank account like nothing else, so I am trying to (mostly) buy discounted games.

I did grab Elechead and Olli Olli World, though! Elechead is excellent so far.

I went to two different stores that stock consoles and the Switch was in plentiful supply. Nintendo might be doomed after all. Sorry, nerds.

Credits rolling for my second FE:TH playthrough (Verdant Wind). Overall i still prefer Azure Moon, but this one had a different focus, it answered some questions that were lingering from my first playthrough and it was very good overall. Now on to Nier Automata and maybe Crimson Flower before FE Engage comes out

I'm a bit out of the forum for a few months, even so I came to wish you a Merry Christmas and prosperous year.
I hope you have a happy 2023 and that the new hardware comes out, I leave you with a Donkey Kong 64 meme.

Someone here was talking about Skies of Arcadia a few days ago, sooo... Happy 20th anniversary, (GameCube port of) Skies of Arcadia!

Here's hoping for a remaster so I can finally find out what all the buzz is about.
"Classic Sega RPG needs to come back". Damn right it does. But not only Skies of Arcadia, every single SEGA RPG. Shining Force 3 trilogy, Shining Wisdom, Shining the Holy Ark, every single Phantasy Star game after the Mega Drive ones (including Zero, Portable 1-2 and Nova), all the classic Sakura Wars games, each one localized and of course Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Come on Sega. Get to work, chop chop!

At this point, honestly, why isn't basically every single old RPG on Switch? (only slightly joking here, really. Do it!)

That's literally what's happening right now with all those Suikodens, Manas and Romancing Sagas. It's just Sega lagging way behind. Such shame.

Oh no, now Mages is very close (if not already) insolvent, even with all the releases this year they had 556 million yen of losses, with a total estimated of 613 million yen with other debts.

Started Bayonetta 3 and what an opening, only played up to the prologue but so far it’s delivering!
It only gets better!! Some moments in this game are so memorable I felt like I was a kid playing and replaying Resident Evil 4. The bosses are epic, the characters are all super charismatic and there's plenty of diversity on gameplay.

While it's the only 2022 game I played (alongside Arceus), it's definitely my GOTY so far.

Is there even room in the lineup for all those games?
Almost seems to me like Sega aughta try releasing their own console 👀
I absolutely hate the platform fracturing that's happening around streaming these days but if Sega split off and got back into the console business I would buy one in a heartbeat because I'm a sucker

Saying Switch had a "bad year" the same year Splatoon 3 and a new Pokemon generation were released is a bold move.

That's alongside Xenoblade 3 and the best Kirby game in a long time.
I would replace the new Pokémon generation with Pokémon Legends Arceus that's quite its own thing, GOTY tier too.
And would also mention Bayonetta 3 that is clearly one of the best games of all time.

I think it’s fair to be disappointed in that regard. 2D Mario, DK and Mario Kart don’t get new titles because the Wii U ports are „enough“ while Xenoblade, Splatoon and Fire Emblem are getting new games constantly.
I think 2D Mario just isn't ready yet, not something done in purpose or anything.
They started Super Mario Maker 2 development right after the first, and it came out in 2019. Assuming a 2D Mario started development right after, it wouldn't be out before 2022 anyways, and we also had COVID, games taking longer than ever to produce and possible changes in scope. 2023 would be only normal development time(Metroid Dread took 4 years, SMM2 also did take almost 4 years).
Donkey Kong can be a case of not having a studio to take the project as Retro was doing something after TF that got canceled, then started MPR and MP4. EPD Tokyo completed Super Mario Odyssey in 2017, started hiring for a 2D action game in 2020, that's probably DK, and probably will come in 2023 or 2024.
Mario Kart really was the case of the port taking away the need of a new installment. The DLC being 48 courses(which is MK8+DLC worthy of content), and coming until the end of 2023 makes me think a new Mario Kart is out of question even for 2024 or 2025. I REALLY hope EPD 9 is making another game alongside Tour/Booster Course, like an ARMS 2, a new IP or a revival tho.

I had a great year on Switch and Nintendo’s first party stuff had little to do with it. I get that to some people Nintendo is entirely about the first party stuff but to me that’s rarely the case. It might matter more to me next year with Zelda and Fire Emblem, but this year it’s mainly been about a stunning array of indies and rpgs and Monster Hunter. I don’t really get how people can claim that their favourite few franchises are the only things that define good or bad years these days when literally hundreds of games release each year. We don’t get droughts any more unless you go in for a very limited view of a platform that only the dozen or so boxed full-price games by the platform holder count.

I’m something late with my backlog + worklife makes me difficult to finish most games but I’m sure someday I will keep up..

Regardless, 2022 was a very good year for me, 3 first party and 4 third party titles, including 2 very long waited ports (nier automata and persona 5 royal), bayo 3 a very long waited title for me (almost 5 years!), first 3d kirby game, a new xenoblade, surprise cc ffvii remaster and finally cuphead got its physical release with all dlc content. I’m not considering MK8 DX DLC or MH Sunbreak.

I put it the same as 2021, where i also bought 7 games. At least me, the ranking of switch years is:

2019>2022=2021>2018=2017>2020.

My catalogue ascends to 39 games; 18 published by nintendo, 21 from other publishers, square-enix and bethesda being top with 4 titles each.

2023 is also heading to be another very good year with zelda totk, octopath 2 and howarts legacy (hopefully advance wars remakes snakes next year). Not considering potential next switch only titles, I hope I will also purchase same amount of titles as 2021/22. My personal wish for 2023 is to get metal gear solid 1-5 ports.

I am very excited for the Nintendo news to start up again. Directs and other stuff.
What do we have... Kirby Remaster, Fire Emblem, Zelda, and Pikmin 4? For the big-deal first party stuff

TIL there is actually a place in New York (Rhinebeck) where they celebrate Sinterklaas??? My mind is literally blown lol

Agreed on all fronts, but especially
the classic Sakura Wars games
The series' gameplay was the way it was entirely because the series creator saw Fire Emblem and thought "Hey, that's neat! Let's make something similar." In this day and age, where Fire Emblem is experiencing unprecedented popularity, it's astonishing that no bigwig at Sega is capable of putting two and two together and realize that, hey, an opportunity is right there for the taking.

Spent a good four and a half hours on Pikmin 3 DX today. Time well spent.

I know there was only the one collab, but Nintendo should buy Mages. I want more Famicom Detective Club.

Holiday Jazz Day 26: “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” Art Tatum

I had so many songs that I wanted to keep going. This week is more Wintery/New Year jazz songs to round out the month. Today, we have Art Tatum’s version of this classic. Fun swing number with Tatum’s piano playing. The trumpet bleating at the beginning gives it an almost vocal quality, and the clarinet solos add a smoother character. Such an under utilized jazz instrument post-swing era.

Ok, get laundry going then it’s anime and Lego time. Then maybe I’ll dive into a game(FEWTH or Kamiwaza probably. Don’t think I’m up for starting Nier automa)

Turning my brain into soup trying to figure out how to install the EA Desktop version of the Sims 4 on my Steam Deck’s SD card

Uploaded a new track for my fake OST project. This one's a boss theme so it's a bit more upbeat or something:

Any feedback is appreciated!

Hey fami! Got a question, from a newcomer on the Splatoon series (the 3rd entry got me really really interested), do you recommend starting playing the 2nd of the 3rd one? I'm interested in the competitive and the campaign modes. Please help 🥺🥺🥲
