Playing the Kunio-kun collection while family watches a charming holiday rom-com and I can’t think of many NES bits more terrifying than stage 3 in Double Dragon when 2 Abobos do their Kool-Aid man impression

Seriously though, I still can't seem to get used to its form factor overall, even after months of use. For how I play handheld games and how I handle handheld consoles, this thing simply isn't made for me in that regard. My hands, which are of pretty average size, just can't seem to get to adjust to the Deck. A lot of the things other people praise about the hardware, especially the sticks (height and placement), are negatives in my book, so... guess I'm simply SOL there.
A smaller form factor is hopefully in the cards for future Steam Deck itsrations. Otherwise it’s simply not an option for me.

Being in Mexico I can't imagine a christmas without fireworks blasting all night (and some gunshots of course)
As someone who lives in South Texas I can relate.
Finished P5R after 117 hours and now starting up P5 Strikers. Took me 2 whole damn months to complete the game lol.

Next month is going to be a blood bath, P4G, P3P and Fire Emblem Engage with Octopath 2 in February.
Nothing wrong with that, I love going my own pace with RPGs on handhelds since I don't have to worry about getting the most out of my time like if I was on a home console.

Next two months are going to be crazy though, so many great games coming out.

Yes! My thoughts exactly. I had to buy a messenger bag just to bring Deck to my workplace. I hate messenger bags, I look like a dork in it. Well, dorker than my usual self.

Have any of you ever played the old PC freeware game called Castle of the Winds? I think it was made by Epic MegaGames, and it basically played like a rogue like but was not structured like one at all, it was structured like a full on RPG with a save system and all that.

Still had the procedurally generated levels. I'm trying to think if that's something I should try to emulate for my little side game that I'm hoping can fund my full game.

I know Dark Souls is an RPG because I just beat the infamous Ornstein and Smough on my second try after going through a bunch of optional stuff to power myself up after the first one. This game is pretty awesome.

It's Christmas Day
Glass Onion is finally out
So naturally I'm rewatching Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Kotaku did a whole story for how to pirate Metroid Dread within a few days of its release.
That one frustrated me lol
Of all the games to pick, one that already runs well on the current Switch, in a series that isn't exactly a sales juggernaut. Stoooppp

The Verge article is pretty tame as there's nothing really wrong with emulating games. The writer even shows their copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy lol.

The Kotaku article, before its edit, was rather brazen in comparison.

The same day that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released? Why the hell would anyone expect that?
anniversary brainbug

see that makes it worse. commit to the bit instead of half assing it. really burn those bridges.

they were probably hoping for it before pokemon was dated as it was the twentieth anniversary of the game's release
But it says that they hoped for a "surprise launch", as in Nintendo announcing and shadowdropping the games on that specific day (unless I'm misunderstanding here). Anyway, it's a rather minor thing.

Now that the ban has ended I just wanted to say... Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all the the good vibes anyone could use. My time may be long or short here, but I am thankful for it all.

On to 2023.

God I really hate Nintendo clickbait videos. Some creators that used to be good just had their quality drop off a cliff at some point.

Playing the intro to Miles Morales and then forgetting to finish the game is going to be a holiday tradition for me I think

Made it. Exhausted.

What's the consensus on Olli Olli World and Elechead? Looking at grabbing some indies on sale with my tiny stash of gift cards. Anything else good out there?
I really loved both, for sure

also, more recently, absolutely loving Inscryption and The Punchuin

if you go for Inscryption, do not look ANYTHING up about it beforehand!!

only go for it if you’re down to be spooked and enjoy a little forest goth in your life

Edit: okay, it probably helps if you also know it’s… more or less a “card game”

but it also appeals to people who don’t care for card games
