StarTopic The Game Awards 2022 |ST| An Ad Sent On

Look, the kid might be a real piece of shit, but that doesn't change the fact he didn't do anything arrest-worthy

People going on about what he could have done... well yeah, that's why they have security, who didn't do their job. But he didn't actually do anything
Geoff also needs to put out the word that at least something was done for brand control ASAP since all the people who matter will be asking "what if that kid had killed Miyazaki" and "why did your awards show have an antisemitic conspiracy (?) as your 'one more thing'?", I can see why he out the tweet out.

See, I found that reasonably hype the first time I fought one, but was very over it by a certain point. This, on the other hand?

Gave it a listen. Yeah that’s definitely a cool track. I haven’t played Ragnarok myself yet, but I imagine it could elevate the right space.

Personally I tend to prefer more melodic and bombastic tracks so Xenoblade is always going to be more my speed and I was very catered to on Xenoblade’s many battle themes this go around. Event music was also very stellar.

But he was arrested after he evidently didn't do any of these things

Honestly, y'all are wild. I never thought I'd see so many people here celebrating someone being arrested for something stupid like this
...No one is celebreating. We're saying we can't blame Geoff for it considering the circumstances. You seem to be taking this really personally, sorry but I just don't agree.

Let's get back to praising flute guy, he was amazing.

Better analogy: you invited a guy over (I assume he had a ticket), he goes into your dad's office he knew he wasn't allowed in

So... you kick him out
He got arrested because it's clear Geoff didn't have a contingency for this kind of stuff, and it's easier to hand him to the police than trying to do anything yourself.

If anything, he's warning other people 'fuck around and find out'.

No wonder security didn't notice him. They were too busy ensuring that the building was surrounded to prevent Reggie from escaping.

Kid's like "I won't talk until I hear from a Lawyer" and they be like "Sorry, every lawyer in this vicinity belongs to Nintendo"

Deleting because I guess this guy has some unsavory history. Best to not project that

Already deleted, what did it say?

I mean, this is the USA we're talking about here...

Well, yeah. In this case being arrested shouldn't mean that tho, by law. How the law enforcers choose to behave is a different can of worms, and something that needs to be adressed in the US in general, but it's not like Geoff can choose to call the good police or the bad police here. There is just one police and he can't do background checks himself. You can only hope they're good eggs who just do their jobs like they should.
yeah, I assume he was escorted out by security

although maybe geoff doesn't have security?

... he has Al Pacino there ya really think they would let him run that show without security XD

I actually wonder how Geoff feels when Nintendo is caring about him the one year and the other it's just no, we won't give you anything.
yeah, it's so strange that they didn't prepare anything for the show that gave us our first look at breath of the wild

I'll probably regret it but I'm starting to lean towards hardware. why show the game chugging now when they can show it at its best in three months?

I don't really think so. ToTK will run just fine on OG Switch. It will look better on new hardware but not something that you will tell yourself "wow, this looks very much different".

Now I'm picturing two buttons when you call 911, one for good cops and one for bad cops 🤣

Plot twist: Geoff's security was those two dudes who came out with Mike Madsen

The way my switch fan sounds I might be ready for this new hardware you keep trying to wish into existence.

it really makes too much sense

hold off on metroid and zelda to show them at their best

don't say anything about hardware until after christmas sales season

I got off the hope train long ago but i think I'm back

I think (or maybe hope) that you're underestimating the impact of the new hardware, especially if zelda is anchor software for it

How do Game Awards invites work? I'm curious who that kid even is to have gotten an invite, if theyre a prolific streamer or a plus one, etc.
I think there were fan passes this year, so he could have just bought one there.

Also if the stage security didn't catch him, I would be surprised if they snuck into the venue as well.

Like all social engineering scams, he just slipped through the cracks quite possibly.

anyway, it's been fun. You can now go and laugh at me that ToTK was not there.
nah bud thanks for keeping the hope alive

not gonna lie I mostly only checked the show to see if you ended up being right, even though I didn’t expect it

and as a result I got to see a few announcements that did in fact appeal to me!

I actually wonder how Geoff feels when Nintendo is caring about him the one year and the other it's just no, we won't give you anything.

Nintendo didn't come with a mega-bomb, but I'd hardly call what they did show as nothing.

  • Fire Emblem: Engage DLC Season Pass
  • Bayonetta: Origins
  • Super Mario Bros movie clip

This is the kind of questions that everyone is now asking and that Geoff really doesn't want you to be asking lmao

Well...just like the kid deserves a stern talking to, Geoff deserves to be asked these questions. That's just fair.

Also, if there was a security team, they probably deserve to be ... I don't wanna say fired cause we all make mistakes, but they need to see consequences for this too. This isn't JUST on the kid. Sure, he was the person who did the deed, but he was only able to because there either was insufficient security or that security wasn't sufficiently prepared to deal with.... a kid.

On a more serious note, Nintendo's DLC lineup for 2023 is kinda ridiculous. 4 major story expansions, along with three more waves of the BCP, and that's just what we know of right now. Tears of the Kingdom and Pokemon will also probably both have their own expansions as well, possibly multiple for the latter.

No wonder the NSO Expansion Pass has been focusing on DLC. They're gonna go hard with that next year.

You can literally just buy a ticket and go. I almost went myself.

we can postulate all we want about the ethics of the situation from afar but I can't imagine what everyone on that stage was thinking afterwards

geoff keighley: "could I have gotten hidetaka miyazaki killed?"

Nintendo doesn't want to show TotK anymore. It already felt like they had to do it earlier this year. Barely showed Pikmin 4. I'm just ready for this new Switch

Alright, then it makes sense to me they'd keep an eye on him and conduct some checks / questioning before letting him go, since there's no guarantee he's someone known by the organizers. Security messed up here.

You too? I've had mine since launch and it started making annoying noises about a month ago. Really ready for a new expansion or upgraded one.
Yep. It goes at insane volume for about 5 minutes then stops. Never had this happen before this loud. And it’s after every time it’s been put into rest mode even if it seemingly wouldn’t need to vent that much heat.
