oh no, not at all, woudn't even implying it, and I'm sorry if you intended this, I apologize.

I think in fact that you and Nate were on spot on pretty much everything. ok, maybe MP HD would not be released in 2022, but it wouldn't certainly be the first internal delay in the history , so no big deal here.

thanks as always to share your insight with us, hope you enjoyed the show! (in fact, I quoted your post because I was interested in your opinion about the Direct XD)

So Nintendo low key hinted at Metroid Prime’s existence themselves with that Metroid icon and a 1 underneath shown during the direct, didn’t they? “Yeah, it’s coming… but not today…”!
We got "Reggied"
reggie-game-awards-2018-metroid-tshirt-1.jpg

Tears of the Kingdom release date really carried this direct imo, and I just found out it releases during the two-week span of time where I usually have a summer vacation. I'm READY.

I really, really enjoyed this direct despite the lack of some of the big rumors coming through. I think Grubb took a pretty big L today (he changed his twitter name, lol) because it seems very unlikely that Prime 1 Remake is 2022 and honestly idk if those Zelda ports are even a thing (and certainly are not 2022 at this point). Zelda ports may be coming, but wayyyyy down the line, and I could see Prime 1 remake not being announced until they have a bit of Prime 4 to show sometime next year.

Definitely no Prime 1 and no GB/GBA on NSO were the two biggest disappointments for me, but Pikmin 4, Zelda title reveal, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Fatal Frame 4 finally getting localized, Bayo 3 having a really good looking gameplay trailer (technically outside of the direct), Octopath 2 coming out of NOWHERE and looking gorgeous, lot of great stuff there.

To be honest I think the reactions to the Direct are a bit extreme. We got two solid first party announcements (Fire Emblem and Pikmin), confirmed the release date for Zelda, a remaster in Kirby, and a variety of third party stuff. At the very least it’s an average Direct. The pacing probably needed some work, but for me the announcements are what matters. I always expect there to be stuff I don’t care about, and that’s fine. Do people really think it’s worse than E3 2015? E3 2015?????

I get the response over the lack of Metroid/Zelda remasters, but at the end of the day they are just old games. I’d rather have a new game like Pikmin 4 or FE over an old game like Wind Waker. Especially since when a Direct is full of ports people complain about that.

And the lineup doesn’t feel like a system on its “last legs” at all. They are releasing Fire Emblem in January, and Zelda in freaking May. That’s usually the most barren month, Nintendo hasn’t had a major May game since Splatoon 1 in 2015. The lineup for 2023 already looks promising, why do people think the Switch is dead?

Lastly the whining about insiders is getting tiresome. They got Fire Emblem completely right, not to mention the actual date of the Direct. People shouldn’t expect every rumor to come true at once.

Dude you are a leaker who also makes prediction videos, and then get annoyed when a handful of weirdos get upset at you. I would (i) ignore them, or (ii) get out of the leaking business altogether and focus on industry commentary. It seems to bother you too much to keep down this road so why do it?
I don't think Nate suggested this bothers him too much to want to continue, though? Besides, unwarranted abuse being directed at a person should never be grounds for someone to have to stop doing something they enjoy.
You probable are right. If you think about it, the GBC and GBA are the only Nintendo consoles which could be added to NSO unless they figure out a way to put DS, considering they want to remaster from GC onwards. If they want to extend it, we may be able to play GBA on 2025.
We know GB/C was at least tested and potentially even finished last year; we know GBA was tested. Both systems provide Nintendo with dozens of games that are easy to access and in some cases, they provide great options for online multiplayer (Nintendo's racing games on GBA, the Pokemon games across the GameBoy system with online trading and transfer pak functionality to the N64). I don't think we'll have to wait that long because I do think the whole GameBoy family will come at once; plus, assuming it comes to Expansion Pack, that gives Nintendo the revenue to push a little more on the licensing side of things and so third party games and Pokemon comes into the fray.
Am I the only one who liked the filler of the direct?
I mean that's how every direct go, 4/5 big announcement and filler for the rest with less important titles.
Who would have thought a direct with bayo 3, pikmin 4 and zelda release date would be considered underwhelming
You won't be the only person who liked the filler and personally I find it annoying when other users try to dismiss it as 'filler'. So called 'filler' clearly caters to an audience; just because that audience isn't obsessively online doesn't mean it should be dismissed out of hand (and even though I personally found a fair bit of the Direct boring, at least some of those announcements remain interesting).

If you're not a fan of farming simulators or jrpgs, this direct was probably murder for you to sit through.

I feel what actually hurt this direct the most even ignoring that was 2 factors

1) The rumors of Metroid Prime remake, WW/TP HD, and the GC remaster flood not paying out for the boomers who wanted these games to come to Switch

2) Zelda/TotK being a glorified teaser trailer that arguably showed less then the 2019 reveal teaser. Had we gotten a more substantial TotK trailer I think the vibe at the end of the direct is a lot stronger. Instead a lot of people were left going "wait that was it?!" At the end of the TotK trailer, and that mindset was the strongest thing they walked away from the direct with.

Yeah I think im just going to stick with whatever Emily says now. Nate did say he didnt think TPWW would be shown so I'd rank
1. Emily (always tempers expectations and rightfully so)
2. Nate (is right most of the time and I don't think he says anything without having reliable info)
3. The Snitch (dude prob works at YouTube)
when it comes to Nintendo stuff, but anyone else, im not listening to anymore

No, you're a good person. I know you weren't implying anything. I was just speaking about the internet in a broad sense. Sometimes you can't satisfy everyone. Also, people love to spread misinformation.

Or people can't actually remember who said what. Because there's fifty insiders out there with uncles at Nintendo.

i dont get it.
Put simply, if you're Nintendo then the best time to release a Metroid Prime remaster would either be if there's a gap in their schedule that needs filling, or when Metroid Prime 4 is nearly done so that you can get the hype train going and try and bring in new fans before 4 launches. Nintendo's schedule till February now is pretty packed so they don't need it to fill a gap, and if Prime 4 remains a couple of years away, might as well sit on it until they have a better idea of when Retro will be finished.

Does anybody know if what they usually show at TGS is very different from what they show at a Direct? Any chance they might have saved Metroid Prime or Wind Waker for TGS? Or is it like the same games plus some very japan oriented ones...

I don't have the right to express a thought about the stupidity of those whom lack basic comprehension skills?

I didn't say it bothered me. I said it was stupid.

really humble to not put yourself up there

I would think Nintendo would primarily want to use the Metroid Prime 1 Remaster as a way to help with the lead-up to Metroid Prime 4. So I'd imagine more than anything the development of Metroid Prime 4 would inform when they would feel most comfortable marketing/releasing Prime 1 Remaster. In that case, I think they are looking for the sweet spot of releasing with just enough time to not canibilize Prime 4 sales, but also not far enough along that any goodwill market share and momentum gained from the Remaster is lost of Prime 4.

Just caught up (fricking work and parenting)
I'm not a jrpg fan but I can't be annoyed because every direct us packed with them now.
Fire Emblem looked ok but I hated Three Houses (too much RPG/talking etc, not enough battling)
Excited for Goldeneye but also when is the N64 controller ever coming back in stock (UK)
Excited for Pikmin!
Excited for Zelda! Ages away though
Kinda dissapointed there was no F-Zero or Wind Waker
Proper dissapointed there was no Metroid Prime remaster

Overall.. it was ok. I'm enjoying Splatoon 3 and got Bayo 3 pre-ordered so I'm content

You can't win with them lot. People that complain are usually ones that don't even listen to everything you say but instead follow little headline tidbits ignoring the caution you give out lmao

This contributes a lot to the toxic discourse, absolutely; you all get lumped in together with spurious Twitter users and 4chan posters as some sort of amorphous mass, even when you keep making completely correct calls. You put out the Fire Emblem details months ago and got it down to a T; Nate also said it'd launch this fiscal year and there it is, sitting in January, looking pretty, weirdass haired protagonist and summonable old heroes to boot.

Personally I'm feeling pleased today that I predicted there'd be an Octopath sequel for 2023 and a 'deluxe' Kirby remaster from Vanpool. Just think! I could've traded those predictions for leaks and clout on Twitter, then eventually become unhinged and predict mad shit that never appears :(

Starting to think Metroid Prime and the Wii U Zeldas should just stop being discussed until they are announced (if they are real). The topic is ultimately too poisonous for speculation, especially with how off the mark the initial reports were for the former

sad, napping, with a clock behind them counting down to metroid prime
Miyamoto himself explained how an old mobile game worked and showed you 20 seconds of Pikmin 4 footage. He even told you the camera perspective change.

HOW DARE YOU BE SAD

Wont name names but there are youtube clickbaiters with the thumbnails being "WINDWAKER TWILIGHT PRINCESS AT TOMORROWS DIRECT!"

and then their fans scour twitter and abuse insiders who never claimed it was 100% coming

I don't wanna come off as a slimeball but thanks for still engaging with the fandom. I really appreciate your patience, thoughtful takes and informations.
As a long time lurker on past websites I just wanna say thank you.

  • The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (12-05-2023)

So about fifty games were named in this Direct. Yes, you read that correctly. 50.

  • Eleven of those were Nintendo announcements (Twelve if you count Bayo)
  • Five of those are farming games
  • Ten(!) games from Square-Enix IP
  • Thirteen RPG's in total

That's pretty insane if you ask me.

I'm still hopeful for a Metroid Prime Remaster twitter drop, does make me wonder why it wasn't in the Direct though, but maybe Nintendo just thought that with Fire Emblem, Pikmin 4 and Tears of the Kingdom, there just wasn't a suitable spot for another that wouldn't take away from the other big announcements. Saying that, I just can't see Nintendo twitter dropping the Zelda ports since the Direct would have been the perfect place to announce them alongside the Tears of the Kingdom reveal, so I guess it's a big wait now until they finally release.

13 damn rpgs. Jesus. I can't wait to play only 4 of them lol.

Zelda aside (1000% buying btw), definitely going to get Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life to relive my childhood playing Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life on the PS2 (or GameCube I can't remember which I played it on)

I'm actually asking what I'm about to ask in earnest: Is there?
Yes? The mere fact Rune Factory is getting another installment means this stuff sells.

And it really does, farm sims have always had a sizable audience, especially if you’re a handheld gamer. The genre’s also been growing on PC.

something like Fae Farming doesn't look like a hit in the making to me.
Sure, but that would be like saying roguelite subgenre isn’t viable because Moonlighter exists.
.
Yeah, I wouldn’t even call it filler at all. It’s just content directed at different tastes.

New Rune Factory is legitimately a bigger deal for me than Fire Emblem.

I don't have the right to express a thought about the stupidity of those whom lack basic comprehension skills?

I didn't say it bothered me. I said it was stupid.
You have the right to do whatever you want. I'm saying you spend a good amount of time on here and twitter complaining about the stupidity of those who hang on your every word and attack you when they think you misled them. My suggestion was (i) ignore them, because saying anything online will generate negativity and it's a small minority so why give it oxygen, or (ii) stop leaking altogether and get into straight up commentary, and your leaking/predicting won't be so easily confused.

The Only reason i can see for Prime is that they want to show it with an actual trailer for 4
Yeah their Metroid strategy has been pretty predictable since 2017. If you're going to announce something in the series that's not the next big game (i.e. Samus returns) then you need to wait to announce it until you can show or at least tease the new game (Prime 4).

I think it's very simply the case that Nintendo have decided not to release Metroid Prime yet.

Yeah lots of neat releases. I never expected stuff like Factorio or Radiant Silvergun would be there. And the new game by Danganronpa guy looks great.
