Nazca lines inspired landmarks is such a good idea in an aerial based game with Meso/South American imagery.

They're deliberately obscuring the identity of the other person, showing only their arm. hm...

My guess - probably this person

It should've been called "Tears of a Kingdom"
That's a way better name.
I really hope there's a Switch 2 releasing in 2023. Zelda will be great anyway, but it's just fkn time Nintendo.

I don't understand how much is that title a spoiler lol since the trailer itself hasn't revealed anything substantial new. I guess what Bill Trinen said "it's a spoiler" was kinda misinterpreted.
At this point I think it's just a convenient way to say they didn't have a title yet

We can actually see the person in front of Zelda behind the logo at the end of the trailer. It's the figure floathing around 30 seconds mark with 7 tears around her.

7 tears = 7 main dungeons, I guess ( + the floaty evil castle maybe)

I think they cut it there because the next clip shows who's holding her hand: Link.

So the Zonai really are gonna be a huge element of BotW2... er, Tears of the Kingdom, huh? Love how they are building on that cool lore from the first game.

It definitely seems like the Zonai battled Ganon in the past based on that mural, and that it was indeed them who sealed his physical form away.

Damn.

I thought during the 3 seconds of gameplay footage that the world looked different and that maybe the familiar world in the 2021 teaser was misdirection.

I've been thinking recently that given that teaser was made 2 years before the game's release date, it's possible we were shown development footage. They were using the old map as an asset for developing the new mechanics while the new map was being made.

However, that picture clearly shows Tabantha Bridge looking towards the Gerudo Highlands. So I guess the same map after all.

Looks like a tears of light vessel from Twilight Princess

Hmm... I thought the trailer was showing one giant mural, with the goddess figure above a different person and Zelda. I could be wrong.

Breath of the Wild > freedom and exploration
Tears of the Kingdom > sadness and emotion
Honestly that's why I like it. It contrasts, like Wild <-> Kingdom - we're exploring a civilization instead of the wilderness. Breath <-> Tears too, emitted from people, expressing life.

I also think it's a play on words, tears -> teardrops, tears -> the world breaking apart.

Yea, i feel like this will make Botw even more interesting since it might give answers to some mysteries.

That part with the huge twister in the background and the two rocks that look stasis linked was insane, looked like a setpiece moment. wonder what’s going on there.

I can respect that! But while it makes a nice contrast, I feel like this title doesn't convey fun or adventure.

You might be right, they do look similar. We'll see later on ig lol.

And for the title you're right, i loved BoTW cause it has more meaning about the whole tone of the game than actually a mechanic compared to past games. It seems to follow the same trend with ToTK

I love the title. I think most of the bound is made while playing a game. I didn't care for TP's title before playing the game. It will grow on people.

They don't care about "spoilers," they withheld the title because, at the time, they felt it'd reveal too much about what makes the game unique and just wanted to delay that marketing beat. It's funny that the trailer doesn't really elaborate on the title, though.

I think "tears" is meant to be read as rips.
Didn't you basically just describe what the word spoilers means? Anyway, that's basically what I meant, I don't see how the title gives away anything about the story without context.

Yeah it's going to be BOTW1 map + flying islands on top of that. And I can't imagine that the first trailer with the caves was just there to show us the first cutscene of the game, there's no way they would mislead us like that, there's gotta be explorable caves too lol.

Apparently I'm in the minority who likes TOTK as a name and thinks it's far superior to BOTW.
I adore it. One of my favorite title guesses was 'The Forgotten King'. I love that evocation of a distant past and civilization. 'Kingdom' hits that on the head, I just imagine this vast ancient world populated by interesting things and figures. And the imagery of tears has been prevalent in Zelda since Ocarina with the Shiekah symbol, so it fits.

This title reveal did exactly what I wanted, convey a little bit more history about this world. I'm honestly satisfied.

Did they go with the title after the Queen passed or...? How is this a coincidence

Since Twilight Princess HD wasn't announced, all my hopes for TP related content rest on those Tears of Light looking containers.

Theres gonna be a lot more floating islands that what we've seen too. I dont think its just that one section of the map.

Also we will probably see what Aonuma means by "world goes beyond that" in the blowout

The piece was falling down and Link reversed time with his new abilities (from the patent). So he is travelling back to the place where the rock came from

The subtitle is probably the worst subtitle of any Zelda game in a very very long time, but nice to see an actual date. Can't wait until this actually comes out.

It's interesting to compare the new boxart to BOTW's. Our perspective is basically reversed, looking back towards the Plateau from somewhere in the northeast of the map. Furthermore, apart from Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain, the most notable landmark in the BOTW landscape is a tower. The cyclone in the background of TOTK's box art strikes me as a parallel to this, and given the short clip we saw of Link using some new ability to scale boulders swirling in a cyclone I believe these will form the analogous climbing challenge in the new game. Link will discover new parts of the sky/hyrule by navigating a puzzle made up of orchestrated rocks spinning in a cyclone.

I think it's great, idk if it's better than Botw yet. Thankfully, it works so much better than any of the Noun of the Noun titles people were coming up with.

I have been saying for years that the title would maintain the "__ of the ___" format in order to keep some continuity with BotW (and communicate that to an audience. It's the only thing I've ever been right about.
