Modern Square Enix when someone suggests that they put more than $5 into a game which isn't aimed almost exclusively at the increasingly-small demographic of people who "grew up with" Final Fantasy VII and/or Kingdom Hearts:

I know this is a simplification, but it is frustrating how modern Square Enix seems to only put the real big-budgets into games whose main demographic is the one described above. They're to Gaming Boomers what the Tory Triple Lock Pensions are to real-life Boomers.
Hey! Let us “boomers” have our fun things, too!

Why does compiling a shader take ages? Does it have something to do with CPU cores?

thank you for all the feedback I got yesterday!

as a token of my appreciation, have my ultimate shitpost: Your Grögol Move Name Maker

mine is:

Extra Boulding Unbelievably Stinky Massive Swoop Spin
Oh boy, here we go:

SUPER CHILLING VERY SPICY ICY GROW BEAM

I hope I did that right.

Re-re-re-re-re-re-playing Doom Eternal, this time on my new LG C1 48 inch OLED, and it's the only game that makes me go "is this on mobile Nintendo hardware?!!" aside from BotW. It's the seminal (heh) impossible port.

It's a pretty incredible port. I played it fully handheld myself, I was kinda shocked by how quickly I got used to the muddiness of the visuals.

Super impressive effort.

Mainly played it handheld previously as well. The visual design holds up really well at those lower resolutions (due to good use of colour I guess). On the big screen I'm actually quite satisfied - although I'm still really looking forward to the DLSS / 60FPS Drake patch 😏.

I'm near the endgame now. Gyro aim makes this one of the best ports, easily.

I'm currently doing a Hurt me Plenty playthrough after going through both 2016 and Eternal on Nightmare :p . Made it all the way through, but threw the towel in the ring during the DLCs. Those were made specifically to troll higher-difficulty players and I'd had enough xD .

Gyro is the best - it's so nice to combine the comfort of the controller with more of the accuracy of the mouse. I once jerry-rigged Steam to play Eternal and 2016 with my Pro controller and gyro. It was nice for sure, but I wouldn't trade the convenience of the handheld option for a higher framerate and resolution honestly.

After some discussions with some family members, we agreed that I will take a two week break from video games to see if my hand will feel better from that. If it doesn’t improve, we will see a doctor

We think it’s due to me playing video games a lot and I have been lately so maybe. I just don’t want it to get worse

Kinda random but seeing both Digimon and Multiversus mentions reminded of Digimon Rumble Arena, it would be interesting to see a revival. They were kinda janky but the mid-battle digivolutions were cool. Bandai was the publisher, interestingly

So I was checking the eShop, as you do, and I saw that Devil May Cry 2 was on sale.

And then the memories came back. Holy shit, that actually happened.

Capcom released Devil May Cry 2 on the Switch as a standalone product and expected money in return.

Crazy.

Is it wrong to say I played it last year and I enjoyed it?

Oh hey, just noticed it only took me 10 months to have surpassed my total post count from back on Era.

Posting comes easy when you are with Fami.

I checked mine and I’m 2600 posts off my era count lol
I used to post a lot but don’t as much anymore, really like this forum but I mostly lurk these days

Nah, not really. To be honest, I haven't played it since it originally released on PS2. Maybe if I gave it another chance I wouldn't dislike it as much as I did.

But then again, that's the thing. Had they released the three games as a pack, as they did on the other systems, chances are that I would have bitten. At worst, that's 2 games out of 3 that I like. But the idea of paying 20 euros (or even 10, now that it's on sale) for a game that I didn't like back then, knowing that there is a very real possibility that the outcome of the whole thing would be "Crap, I still don't like this"... it's not exactly enticing.

when you ordered something Monday and is still hasn’t shipped…. Not that it’s a rush thing and it’s from an enthusiast site

You know, I never have played a devil may cry

Hm, since we have people here who enjoy random LN/WN/Manga/Anime stuff here, anybody want me to copy over my villainess genre explanation? In a good mood because got a pv for the second major one that I know of being adapted as an anime. First one was My Next Life as a Villainess All Routes Lead to Doom! Which was great

I’ve been slowly working on the DMC games and finally did 3 a few months ago. I bought 4 on ps4 but I’m surprised there’s no switch version yet

The lack of DMC4 on Switch is particularly curious because I distinctly remember some people who supposedly had inside information going "Yep, it's being worked on and it's coming very soon" and this was like... two years ago, I think?

Maybe it was an educated guess rather than a leak, or maybe plans changed in some way, who knows.

Youtube: I see you have watched a few Xenoblade videos. May we recommend the entire ending to this game that hasn't been released yet?!

Also Youtube: I see you have pressed not interested and don't recommend channel on a video. Might we recommend this same video you are trying to avoid?

Thankfully there wasn't anything spoiler-y in the thumbnail.

You know what FEWTH needs? An empire mode expansion dlc. It’d be perfect for it, which is a rarity for licensed warriors games

I know this has probably been asked before, but how’s Sonic Colors on Switch these days? Never played the Wii version because I expected all Wii Sonic games to play like Secret Rings.

As far as I've heard, not too bad. It launched in a rough, glitchy state but has been patched and should run fine now.

No soup or salad?
Salad no..
Soup maybe.. to dip the bread in

Someone at Nintendo should really update their prices (at least for the region I live). I can get Xeno 3 at retail for 60$ while in the eShop it is almost 80$. I don‘t want to buy physical copies for all games so this really turns me off to buy any new first party game on switch at release
