I still hate how MC gives outlets more weight than others. It’s honestly insulting. Each review should be treated equally from each given outlet if they get posted.
 
Currently at 89 with 64 reviews. I don't think there will be many more reviews Today, so It should settle at 88-90 for now.

I kinda get it because there are so many sites and blogs nowadays who don't really have a reputation. Theoretical troll reviews aren't unrealistic.

I just wish it would be more transparent what site how much weighs and so on.

It could easily be either Bayonetta 3 or Splatoon 3. Bayonetta 2 was a GOTY nominee in 2014 despite Mario Kart 8 launching that year.

Completely forgot about bayo 3 but I think xeno3 is more likely
Bayo 2 was a in the centre of discussion in that year with the exclusivity talks and the return of the series as a Nintendo exclusive, now I think bayo 3 it's a smaller deal while xenoblade is becoming quite a big franchise for Nintendo that's why I think it's the most likely candidate.
I don't think splatoon 3 has a shot unless it comes out to an outstanding 90+ reception, same thing with bayo3

I mean this year has been pretty light on big and acclaimed game releases, I don’t see why there only has to be one Nintendo nom. Nintendo has a way bigger and better lineup than the other systems this year.

I mean Elden Ring is gonna win it. Other than that it’s HFW and GOWR. HFW doesn’t even have that good word of mouth.

I think it will get a 90+. Because of the twisted logic game scoring has, they can‘t give the game a much lower score if it is comparably good to the first game.

Bayonetta 2 got the nod with a 91 Metacritic, in a year that Mario Kart 8 - an internally developed flagship Nintendo title - had a Metacritic of 88. If Bayonetta 2 gets the GOTY nominee nod, I think Bayonetta 3 has a shot too. Splatoon I agree would need to review better than the first two games to make the list of nominees; XBC 3 and Bayonetta 3 are the likelier candidates.

Splatoon 3 will get another low 80s MC score, it has no chance of being nommed to GOTY. It doesnt matter really for the quality of the game but it is the situation of the franchise

Martin's Eurogamer review has the added hilarity of misspelling Agnus.
Turns out that the author, as acknowledged in the comments section, has been confusing the nation's name with that of his imaginary Aunt Agnes. :giggle:
Unfortunately it wasn't the Tyrant monster from X. What a let down.

True, but I am not talking about posting someone's blog. Blogs have always been a thing and dime a dozen since forever. But, don't give more eight to IGN than Edge or RPGSite, etc.

Everyone knows what are actual outlets and whats some rando's blog. Working for IGN does not make you more qualified than say, RPGSite or SixthAxis. Especially since it's not like you need actual journalism qualifications for any outlet.

Tales of games have a pretty decent track record with romantic sub plot with Phantasia,Eternia ,Symphonia 2,Grace, Xilla,Innocence, Hearts Destiny and Destiny 2 all having obvious couples pairing/s . It depends on what you mean by payoffs though, you won't see much if any physical affections in these games lol.

The cast in tone is much more in line with the first game. I personally liked the cast more in 2 than 1, but I absolutely love the cast in 3 so far.

Thanks! I wasn‘t like a huge fan of the cast in the first game either, but they also didn‘t bother me. I actually liked some concepts introduced in the second one (from what I‘ve seen in my few hours play session) but the character design / dynamics just isn‘t for me.

You are correct. It doesn't. Thats why I wish it would have some transparency. Because its a really fucked up system if the user can't look into their rating system.

I think even with a lighter year like this one Nintendo will only get one nomination. Sometimes it feels like the goty put a Nintendo game in the noms as an obligation to not seem biased, like let's put the highest rated game from nintendo so everyone shuts up about it.
But let's stop here that it's becoming off topic

GOTY games are very western centric and almost always are about prestige, budget, concept and so on.

For example I really like Dragon Age: Inquisition but it sure as hell wasn't the GOTY in 2014. It just was the big budget open world game in that year.

I really don't take this stuff serious.

I mean yeah, they're a joke. Just the fact that's in December just to market more games before the holidays and that way ignoring all the games that come out late november and December shows what's actually important for the show.
 
keighley just puts one jrpg in the list of nominees every year and ignores all the rest. xeno 3 will not be the one jrpg for 2022.

Which other will be nommed? Because I dont see any with 90+ potential outside of counting Sunbreak as a JRPG and DLC can’t be nommed I think
