We need Vanilla Lake SNES
I want some other tracks more, but I think Vanilla Lake has a great shot as the final SNES track with Sherbet Land out of the running and it being the only SNES theme not used as a retro track on consoles/handhelds.

Wow, if that really is the track list, and it includes an entirely new track, then that pretty much locks in the track origin datamine as legitimate. That final wave is going to be absolutely bonkers if that's the case.
While the final wave has 3 '?' courses, I'm guessing that Merry Mountain will be one of them, instead of being the only 'original' course in the third pack. If they average 18+ weeks between waves they will be going all the way to Christmas 2023 anyway.

I'm curious to see what @MondoMega means by a 'fun twist' of an unseen course. Hopefully something more interesting than a new RMX course! (Maybe a block battle map converted into a track??)

There is smoke. I feel today is the day for some big news, maybe MK8 news? I am slowly introducing my girlfriend to different Nintendo games and she is enjoying Mario Kart as well. Hope to pick it up again to race on some new tracks :).

That said, I am looking forward to a new MK with some new gameplay elements though, but I guess that will take a long long while.

Considering that you've been staying silent, I won't ask for the contents of the leak nor how it was found, but I am curious as to the extent of it. Has the entire BCP leaked? Or is is just Wave 2?
What/where was that original data mine?

I did my usual thing and looked up what the rumoured tracks looked in Tour and noticed Rainbow Road GBA wasn't in the game. De we think it'll still be based on a (unreleased) Tour version or made from the ground up for 8 (a crazy hope I know)?

Anyway this ??? business is going to make the next waves really exciting.

It's not that crazy of a hope considering Coconut Mall and Shroom Ridge weren't in Tour before Wave 1 launched (Shroom Ridge still isn't, even). Even if a course debuts in 8DX first i'd assume it was made with Tour in mind.

That's the crazy hope part, that it wasn't made for Tour in mind. Just a pure MK8D track.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the 6th wave releases well before Christmas 2023. The rollout for each wave may not always be this long.

Sakurai gave a similar time window for the second smash dlc wave and the final character came in October. I fully expect wave 6 to be fall 2023.

Regardless of whether you trust it or not, we're gonna find out in an hour. Don't need to put a whole lot of weight behind it regardless of whether it's accurate or not.

Which Twitter user? Announcement time K Rool? Or track leaker?

The former no one knows and the latter was backed up here. I only trust the leaked tracks because I trust Mondo.
To be fair the latter account never actually gave a release date, but imma be real, that’s a pretty easy guess, I think I’ve humoured that exact list before, minus Sydney because I think there’s more of that track they haven’t made in Tour yet, and they’d wanna do that first. Them not even explaining the track with no prefix in the datamine is hilarious, and honestly makes me think they’re full of shit, or their source is full of shit, but who knows, we’ll see in… probably August at this rate, which is kinda fucked, the fact that we might actually see waves 2 & 3 barely a month apart is ridiculous to me, goodness Nintendo

Oooooh the tracks are leaked? Well, let's see.

Tour New York Minute: a suprise, I thought it would be in the Moon Cup. It's okay, I don't have a lot to say about this track.
SNES Mario Circuit 3: a MC from the SNES was expected, I'm happy it's not the boring Mario Circuit 1, so actually glad with this choice.
N64 Kalimari Desert: nice. I really hope it's a combination of KD1 and KD2. That would make my day :)
DS Waluigi Pinball: of course! Extremely good ending to this cup.

Tour Sydney Sprint: I think it's okay as a city track. The more exciting ones for me (LA Laps for example) keep on waiting, which is sad, but okay.
GBA Rainbow Road: a real surprise. I didn't expect this one to be in. I like the idea and with 3DS and Wii also coming (probably), I'm wondering if GCN Rainbow Road will be in too. Would be perfect, every Rainbow Road ever would be in the game.
Wii Mushroom Gorge: I actually expected Koopa Cape, but I personally like Mushroom Gorge more. Happy it will come back, although it was expected.
???: excited to find out what this is!

F in the chat for DS Rainbow Road lmao

the list is real

I actually believe that it's real, but there are weird choices man! :D New York Minute not in the Moon Cup, why? Sydney Sprint doesn't even have its third version in Tour? GBA Rainbow Road as the second track in a cup? Mario Circuit 3 when Mario Circuit 1 is found on the banner? Just weird question marks. I believe it, since more persons have heard the same thing, but to me there are really weird choices here. That may mean the other cups will be less predictable than I initially thought.

Forgot that one too, lol. Would still be two big omissions if we are going to have every Rainbow Road except GCN and DS.
To be fair DS Rainbow Road has always been a tricky track to port thanks to it's corkscrew and loop de loop sections. In theory it shouldn't be an issue with MK8D's anti grav, but perhaps the camera ends up being a mess during that segment which is why it's not being ported.

Wait where is the entire track list? Did it actually get leaked?
No, just the games they came from (or the fact they're new hence the unknown market). We have a new list of specifically the 7 retro tracks for wave 2 that several people are confirming are real.

Let's not forget, people:
Hope we do see them tonight but I wouldn't know anything about reveal or release timing. We'll have to wait and see.
The specific courses mentioned are still in the conversation, regardless of the release timing of the trailer. We won't know if the course list is accurate or not for sure until a trailer comes out.

I just hope Double Dash gets some love next wave.

I'm not asking for much, I just want Dino Dino Jungle, Wario Stadium, DK Mountain, Daisy Cruiser and Mushroom City.

How likely are each of those?

Why do people think New York belongs in the moon cup? Surely they aren't making the classic blunder of thinking New Donk City is the same place? Or maybe because it has a moon in the sky? But Vancouver has a more prominent moon 🤔

Datamining suggests there might be four Double Dash courses coming, and most of the courses you named are either in Tour or were suggested in datamines for that game. So there's a decent chance you'll get at least one of them, if not more.

If the rat is genuine, there is a hint that the 8th track has a space/'vague' Mario theme. Maybe it's like one of those abstract wooden block levels from sunshine, or similar from galaxy.

I thought only Dino Dino Jungle was in Tour?
DK Mountain, Daisy Cruiser, and either Mushroom Bridge or City were suggested to be coming to Tour from datamining for it.
Datamining was much more fruitful than I thought yesterday. There's a thread about the PC references already, but there's a few more things worth talking about. First; even more references to Battle Mode than before. Sounds like balloons are customisable in some way, potentially tied to the gacha. Then, despite being patched out before, a new string related to 8DX has been readded in this update: 'Mk8dx_FetchPlayReport_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND'.

Finally, a few more datamined courses. Check out the bottom of the list:

YPKmLlZ.png

First, we have DS Tick-Tock Clock joining DS Mario Circuit. There's a new pendulum object that only realistically fits this course. Then the big stuff; two new nitro courses. One has the initials 'dk', with the only object referring to it being two variants of 'HPBoardMobdk' (one for reverse courses and one for trick courses). Likely a DK track of somekind though, i'd have to guess. The bigger one is 'br', which has a ton of objects referencing it. Alongside 'JumpMobbr' joins objects like 'BathBomb', 'DuckToy', 'KuriboFloatToy' and 'RoadSponge' which, combined with the initials, give away the theme of the course if you ask me. Last update an object called 'SoapBubbleTest' was found, but it wasn't conclusive enough to determine what the course actually was. Now combined with the newly found initials I think it is fairly obvious.

Keep in mind that not every original Tour course will end up being a race course though. With battle mode imminent it is likely that some of those tracks are actually battle tracks. There's no way for us to know the distinction right now however.

Universal Orlando has a Jimmy Fallon ride that goes from New York to the moon.

Universal has rights to Nintendo theme park stuff

New York = Moon

Thank you. I will not be taking any further questions.

Not to go off topic, but man, the Jimmy Fallon ride is really bland, though I suppose that fits a ride about Jimmy Fallon. The queue building recreating the NBC building is way more interesting than the ride itself.

I do like the recreation of Rockefeller Center, though being from NYC gives me some extra fun seeing the recreation, like I'm home. Though to bring things back to Nintendo, it makes me wish that I could pass the Today building and go to a Nintendo store like at the real Rockefeller Center.
