Actually scratch that, I do have a few places where I'm checking whether a given string is blank or not. Hopefully that doesn't eat up too many resources.

In grade 10 I took a programming class back when I still thought I had a shot of becoming a gaming dev (irrespective of my lack of art/story writing/musical composition skills).

My final project I handed in was a recreation of Candy Land for two players in Visual Basic 6. One guy to my left was making a 2 player Megaman battle game where you jumped around and had to shoot each other with platforms and walls. Someone further down the row of computers in the lab made a brick breaker clone. After submitting my project to the teacher's dropbox, someone came up to my station and figured out if you hold down the enter key, in 10-20 seconds it would pop up with "Player 1 WINS!!" or "Player 2 WINS!!" at random.

I don't know how I walked away with only 60% on my final report card, but that was a sobering a moment I learned that I'm better off playing games than making them 😅 In short, I have mass amounts of respect to you all able to craft whole worlds from your imaginations simply by knowing how to type cryptic languages in the correct format.

Also Python blows ass and can suck my weenus.
 
Mario + Rabbids and Persona 5 coming back to back in October is gonna kill me. Literally within a day of each other. Come on lol

that would be me if there were more in it. logo reveals don’t give me that much to chew on, and if I focus too much on one, my brain gets stuck in a weird circle.

that was absolutely me for a while with Silksong, though. now I’m trying to hold back since it’ll be coming sometime silksoon
 
Has Nate or anyone made any recent comments on the Zelda HD Remasters coming this year? RGT seems to think they are likely coming this fall along with Metroid Prime. Seems to indicate Nate or Grubb made the claim. At leas that is how I'm interpretting his words. Around the 5 minute mark he talks about them:



Basically claims three GameCube games are coming. I knew about Metroid Prime from Jeff Grubb but haven't heard any updated information about those Zelda remasters. So has there been any updates that I missed about those possibly coming?

Everyone has been expecting them for the past two years, I doubt anyone actually knows when/whether they happen.
 
I truly, truly hope the success of the new mario and rabbids game will lead to Ubi Milan tackling on more nintendo ips. Kid Icarus? Star Fox? I bet they could blow people away.

The Steam Deck unfortunately has added another avenue for PC "master race" types to be even more insufferable.
 
TP and WW feel like things that have been done for years but are just waiting to be used as fillers for the lineup

Lol, not exactly. They're just your standard swatch type of watches, you can see Swatch x Disney for reference, but they'll feature mostly Mario and DK characters/ motifs. The designs are actually really cool! They're not tacky looking, I think they are going to sell out really quick when they go up for sale.

I think WW and TP HD games will come to the Switch eventually but insiders that keep saying that they are coming, I think they are just stating something that seems obvious with the belief that eventually they will be right. It doesn't seem like anyone has heard hard evidence that these ports are actually coming or that they are done and Nintendo is just sitting on them.

I want one eventually but I’ve played enough Ace Attorney to know when I see an object that will inevitably used to murder a person.

Yeah that is what was thinking but I was hoping that a new insider comment was made. Otherwise I'm just going to assume that the Zelda HD Remasters just aren't coming anytime soon. RGT is usually pretty reliable. Seemed to indicate Nate may have provided and updated comment regarding Zelda but I also don't want to bother Nate lol.

I haven't seen anything about it from Nate. I also have never heard of RGT being reliable, or even an insider, but maybe I've missed that.

It seems like way more of a system for off-TV (or in this case off-desktop) play rather than a proper portable console in the tradition of the Game Boy.

I remember GamesMaster magazine praising Sega NOMAD against Game Boy, saying it would have hundreds of games available at launch and be infinitely more powerful than Game Boy. Something in lines of "Why would I waste my time with a machine that doesn't even have colors?"

History does repeat itself.

I feel exhausting reading all the "Nintendo is doomed" posts anywhere on the Internet when there is an article viewing the Switch in not the most positive light.

Regardless if it's a joke or not.

Maybe I should also pick up NieR Gestalt on my Xbox. Not sure why it’s never gone down in price but $20 isn’t too bad

I hate it when people say Nintendo is one of the worst companies in the video game industry.

Nintendo might have their problems, but at least they don't perpetuate and enable a toxic work environment. At least they don't sexually harass women. At least they pay their fair share of taxes (at least, I ASSUME they do).

You can always pick it up later! Well worth it. For my money DQ11, P5R, and XC2 are the best JRPGs of the last decade. And they all offer different flavors of the genre, DQ11 being the most classic and traditional, while also doing a lot to play with that design space and mess with your expectations.

But yeah with one month until XC3, waiting on another 100 hour RPG is probably a good idea.

Yeah think it will be a better idea to wait. I am planning to get persona 5 when that comes out as well
 
I gotta say… seeing everything that Ubisoft is doing with their own Rabbids makes Nintendo’s “Stock characters or no characters” policy look so much worse in comparison.

Ya got these great new Rabbid designs that take the basic ‘look’ and twist it significantly to add character.

Then in the exact same game ya got… Bowser. Just… Bowser.

Let artists be artists, Nintendo!
 
M+R2 looks amazing and I really loved the first one, but on this I'll have to minimize my spending and will wait until it is on sale... which considering it is a Ubisoft game, may as well be 50% on January next year.

After playing Guardians of the Galaxy on gamepass. I’ve decided to never listen to anyone ever again.

Game is meh as hell. The writing is not impressive either but it might be if I was a fan of the Ip. Which admittedly I am not, so that’s probably where the praise came for the writing. I was hoping it was more universal praise. The combat is so boring. And it does that thing that I disliked about recent games where everyone is taking as you’re walking. Remake VII did that so much as well. I would just stop to hear some stuff.

Anyways. I’m joking about not listening to anyone, just found it funny how I expected to like the game after hearing rave things about it. Granted im not gonna bother to finish it as my not renewing my gamepass. I’ve realized I don’t need gamepass, I’ll actually save money by owning the games then paying every 3 months. I don’t have the time to use it as much and a lot of the games on there are super cheap. It’s a nice thing and im sure as a kid I would love it. But the last year has shown me that gamepass is not at all in my interest.

I wanted to start a thread for it but I might sound like a nostalgic fool and the thread will probably die off very soon so let me complain here:

I HATE how Enix has great franchises (to me anyway) that actually really seemed to be forgotten. Games like
  • Soul Blazer trilogy (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma)
  • Just Breed
  • Jyutei Senki
  • Wonder Project J
  • Mystic Ark
  • Planet Laika
Like come on, DO SOMETHING WITH THEM Square-Enix, jeez...
