Yea, but what is a second party? What is a JRPG? What is an RPG anyways? These are life’s eternal questions.
No we are not starting any of those debates here

Actually wait might be an improvement from Partner Direct doomposting

All right so

1) Second parties don't exist, but in common discourse I think it's acceptable to use them for franchises owned by Nintendo but whose traditional developers are not. i.e. Kirby, Fire Emblem

2) A JRPG is an RPG that seems sufficiently weeby to warrant the title. Dark Souls is a JRPG, because it's weeby af. Dragon's Dogma is not, despite being made in Japan, because that game is trying very hard not to be and I think it deserves some credit for that. CrossCode is a JRPG, despite not being made in Japan, because it's trying pretty hard to be a JRPG and also it's an isekai

3) A video game RPG is a game in some way inspired by tabletop RPGs. WRPG typically focus on a more direct emulation of those games, whereas JRPGs tend to focus on capturing the general feeling of an adventure with a group of friends.

I was gonna make a joke about how Nintendo should make Super Weeb Bros. but then I realized they already did. It's called Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I linked directly to page 21 and it worked for me, but:

No, if it has an asterisk then it's a 3rd party game licensed to be released and sold as a Nintendo product in some regions. Bayonetta 3 is a Nintendo product, as it is produced by EPD and funded entirely by them. Nintendo only supervises development for Mario + Rabbids and publishes it in Japan.
Im excited to play The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (temp.) and Metroid Prime 4 (temp.)

Threadmark this shit

Nintendo co-owns Bayonetta 2/3 specifically.

Not that it matters too much, because Nintendo already bent the rules with Buddy Mission Bond in the September 2020 Partner Direct.
Ah, Buddy Mission Bond changes things indeed. Didn't think to check the JP directs since it's so rare for a Nintendo game to not launch in the West... Anything goes then I guess. Bring on Fire Emblem 17

If it is a Partner Showcase, and the big partner is Sega/Atlus, I want Persona 3, 4, and 5, the rhythm games, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Muramasa Rebirth, 3D Dot Games Heroes 2, and Trauma Center.

That's really not too much to ask for.

Something bugging me, it’d be kinda odd for Nintendo to place a Direct this close to their investor meeting, only to save first party announcements for the following weeks

See, it's the "produced by EPD" part that gets me. I thought it was produced by Platinum?

The game was developed by Platinum, of course; but like every game Nintendo publish worldwide (even some they don't like Mario + Rabbids and the Musou games) there are producers from within Nintendo overseeing the production of the game.

Is tomorrow the last day Nintendo can announce the direct or can they do it the day before?
According to Nate, the Direct is on Tuesday, so tomorrow would be the last day for the announcement

If the Direct is instead on Wednesday like some others have indicated then it could be announced Tuesday

They’ve always done things like this. In 2019 and 2021, they revealed the Switch Lite and Switch OLED less than two weeks after the same shareholder meeting they’re having this week.

That’s usually hardware though, software seems like more of a priority to them, I remember last summer when they held the Pikmin 3 Deluxe reveal to the day before one

OMG! This seems to line up with the thing Nate has been teasing (Switch Pro).

If we get a Nate podcast episode about the Partner Direct tomorrow, and then a Grubb livestream tomorrow about Nintendo's overall summer plans, I will potentially be a very happy Dragon

Hoping for The Snitch to leak the entire presentation so that we can all move over to the next circus of predicting what the next Direct will be.

Gotcha! That was the missing piece for me.

I thought Samushunter's nemesis was the truth
I mean.... isnt Sylux always trying to trump Samus in everything?

To me he would be an even bigger shitpost leaker then Samus. He wouldn't say "DK by EPD Tokyo gone gold"

He would say:"Shiekh game in development by Retro launching next week"

I know Makomaro said the DK studf, just an example
