who the fuck is that
Who is ready for Wednesday for this banger?
So who is ready to hear this banger?
Who is ready for Wednesday for this banger?
...Have you seen the Xbox or Sony first party calendar for the rest of the year? And don't come at me with "they have third party" because the discussion in this thread is "Third party games don't count".it's interesting how 3 big releases dated for the rest of the year is considered a very packed year for Nintendo fans lol to the point it make sense for Nintendo to slow it down with their Marketing, we sure can't keep up with all these 3 releases
NateWho actually said it’s a Partner Direct???
NateWho actually said it’s a Partner Direct???
Well Is more than Sony and way more than Ms during these troubled times. So yes, a schedule with Pokémon, XC 3 and Splatoon 3 after 5 or 6 Nintendo games from January to June Is arguably a very respectable line up.it's interesting how 3 big releases dated for the rest of the year is considered a very packed year for Nintendo fans lol to the point it make sense for Nintendo to slow it down with their Marketing, we sure can't keep up with all these 3 releases
Other people have already said this but I don't think that's fair. As far as we know we're still getting a direct and "insiders", in this case Nate, I don't think has ever said what kind of direct it would be, just that there would be one. Sounds like a direct is almost certainly going to end up happening so the information he's given was accurate. And, I mean, if you wanna blame someone for setting up expectations for a Direct, blame the insiders who said there would be one on the 29th.
Mario + Rabbids 2 and (maybe) Advance Wars: Reboot Camp.
I can already hear the cries and screams of nintendo fans being dissapointed by the show lolSo who is ready to hear this banger?
I know, but it's a legitimate fact that the only reason people were expecting a Direct on the 29th is because insiders specified that date as being one with a Direct on. Directing your anger at them for it turning out to be a Mini/Partner is unwarranted, but Glio said that there was nothing to indicate a Direct happening when, yeah, there was. People never expected a Partner Mini Showcase when that information came out, so stop trying to say that they should have actually expected one now that it's becoming more concrete a thing.
I understand, but I'm just sick of having to pretend like Nintendo's utterly corporate, completely devoid-of-life marketing schedule is anything but that. Yeah, "we got a Direct last week," but it was a game-specific Direct for one of Nintendo's more niche franchises. Yeah, we 'might' be getting one next week, but it's likely gonna be a small-time event where ports of old-ass JRPGs are considered "amazing reveals."
It's just so fucking tiring having folks say "actually, that thing that made you really happy before doesn't count for shit. You're entitled for wanting it to happen again; the corporate overlords know best." Like, we all talk about toxicity here, but maybe part of that is because some folks simply don't want to accept that disappointment can be a legitimate feeling. Not wanting to accept that list war rhetoric which spouts how "actually, Nintendo Co. LTD released 5 video game entertainment products this year. That means you are wrong," helps no-one and does nothing.
I mean, I made a massive bingo thread because I was really, really fucking excited for the chance of having a big thing to rally around. Something that might give some semblance of a greater community feeling. But, nope, can't have that
Hooo raaay!Death to All but General Directs
Nate and just himWho actually said it’s a Partner Direct???
Partner Showcase on the 28th
then
...
Nintendo Spotlight on the 29th (like the one from e3 2017 that only had Rocket League and Mario Rabbids as 3rd party games)
Third party games count as long as they're not mostly ports...Have you seen the Xbox or Sony first party calendar for the rest of the year? And don't come at me with "they have third party" because the discussion in this thread is "Third party games don't count".
You're definitely right on the insider part. I respect Nate and other insiders for putting up with this community, and being so patient, but that also doesn't negate past comments. He chose his wording deliberately as to oppose the idea of a smaller, non-standard showing.I know, but it's a legitimate fact that the only reason people were expecting a Direct on the 29th is because insiders specified that date as being one with a Direct on. Anaemic sports titles are actually - in fact - the exact same as lengthy single-player adventures." helps no-one and does nothing.

Wrong....most of us are considering bayo 3, advance wars, and Mario plus rabbids under that "stacked year"...so that's 6 titles not 3.it's interesting how 3 big releases dated for the rest of the year is considered a very packed year for Nintendo fans lol to the point it make sense for Nintendo to slow it down with their Marketing, we sure can't keep up with all these 3 releases
I‘m pretty sure nobody on here said „Third party games don’t count“. But they don’t need a dedicated Direct for them. They don’t necessarily need to know what 3rds are working on, because the Switch was never the most interesting platform for them and especially it’s not now with its very outdated hardware. So yes, Sony and Microsoft DO have third party and it’s definitely something different to get Elden Ring or Gotham Knights in comparison to a 540p version of Sniper Elite 4....Have you seen the Xbox or Sony first party calendar for the rest of the year? And don't come at me with "they have third party" because the discussion in this thread is "Third party games don't count".
Well like I said next week will be fun lol
To be fair, Nate always said he's unaware of what type of Direct it would be, but speculated it wouldn't be a smaller one because he had no reason to believe that at the time. You're definitely right on the insider part. I respect Nate and other insiders for putting up with this community, and being so patient, but that also doesn't negate past comments. That being said, while we shouldn't sweep that under the rug, I can also understand where Nate was coming from. The reason any of us are in this business of leaks and rumours is because it's fun to get excited. I'm sure it's also fun to get inside sources, because otherwise why even bother?
Nate I think tends to latch onto stuff (from his sources) that's hopeful about there being good showings, because I'm sure it's more exciting than the contrary. I'd be lying if I said I didn't do the same thing in this thread. I think if anything needs to happen, we just need to work individually on managing disappointment.
That guy from Switchforce deserves to be a Lions fan.reactionary youtubers and their thumbnails are still the worst
I've caught some flack from the staff for being too hostile towards you in the past, so I'm going to put this as nicely as I can. I apologize if it comes off as patronizing.I mean it's better than expecting it only to get disappointed.
What do you want us to do, then? Just praise Nintendo endlessly and never question what they're doing, or why they're doing it?
And, I mean, if you wanna blame someone for setting up expectations for a Direct, blame the insiders who said there would be one on the 29th.
I don't think that Metroid Prime HD is a holiday game. It feels like a January or February game, as Skyward Sword HD or 3D World.I’m surprised to see so many people confident that there’s no holiday game anymore. Nintendo’s done short turnarounds before, announcing Metroid Prime HD in September for a November release isn’t a complete impossibility.
In general, I honestly prefer to have stuff spaced out like this, but I wish Nintendo would clarify what’s happening when in advance. I get why they don’t, direct hysteria is free marketing, but it’d be so much nicer if they had laid out their plans beforehand.
Probably Nate Heard about some ambitious and anticipated game ad assumed It's a general Direct. I mean, what if you have info about a Showcase with M+R 2, Bayonetta (?) And some S-E games including Tactics Ogre Reborn? It would be totally Fair to assume a General Direct Is happening. To be fair, Nate always said he's unaware of what type of Direct it would be, but speculated it wouldn't be a smaller one because he had no reason to believe that at the time.
If people are going to hang onto his every word, then they need to be able to separate what he's reporting from a source and when he's just giving his opinion. As part of this community, he should be able to have fun and speculate with the rest of us without it coming back to haunt him if he's wrong. He's made it very clear that he was unsure the type of Direct.
he most likely expected a General direct when he provided the information, but I think anyone in his place probably would'veYou're definitely right on the insider part. seriously lolAs we got closer he definitely became more weary. He was becoming more open minded to Mini or Partner. And I told people to now open your minds after I saw Nate started to waffle. Because he probably got new info and nothing was pointing to anything big as a general direct.
Even without it there's no reason to freak out. None of the insiders said that there won't be any first party reveal, Nate included. We all should expect at least one new announcement.Serious question....why can't we just wait for an official announcement before freaking out????
Nate, does this still hold? Like in the sense that it’s a partner direct, but you think the reveals are pretty exciting and could be compared to the reveals of a big direct? Or are things getting shuffled around and what you thought would be there won’t be?If the Direct I have knowledge of is a Mini... then they should use a different term.
Jeff Grubb and Andy Robinson both indicated a Partner Showcase was coming a while ago (I didn't think they were right, shows what I know). Nate also said the format of the Direct was unclear, and that it could well end up being a Mini or a Partner. If you have expectations that this information is going to pan out in a very specific way, then yes, that is on you; just as it's on me that I decided Grubb and Robinson weren't correct.I know, but it's a legitimate fact that the only reason people were expecting a Direct on the 29th is because insiders specified that date as being one with a Direct on. I better put more effort into my shitposts then, wowSomeone mentioned thread pages, but this thread has also seen an increase in 10k views over the last 48 hours.
We'll probably hit more total views on the thread by the time the Partner Direct airs than the Partner Direct itself will hit in total.
I didn’t think of Luigi’s Mansion or Hyrule Warriors as holiday games either, but Nintendo still went with both. They just like to have something on shelves alongside Pokémon, and I think Metroid Prime HD fills that need. Plus, the anniversary lines up nicely.I don't think that Metroid Prime HD is a holiday game. It feels like a January or February game, as Skyward Sword HD or 3D World.
