Could be a good show everyone. Just gotta change your expectations!

And we know Nintendo has to at least reveal the new FE at some point, so maybe we will get a more first-party focused Direct before September. If not, September will be one hell of a show!

Some of those are definitely possible, but Hogwarts is under Sony marketing and I doubt would show up.

This is what's making me think this showcase has to have Mario + Rabbids 2 (it will, Nate confirmed it) and Bayonetta 3. Can't imagine Investors not being like "so eeeeh, what's up? Y'all got some first party announcements?" And Nintendo will probably say like "we will announce more in regards to are first party line up in due time" or something
You might want to try a little harder then. Nintendo has gone into meetings with a single game dated before. Right now they have XBC3 and Splatoon 3, the latter being a 10+ million seller. Investors aren't going to be too worried.

I can understand why the frustration, because it makes it sounds like Nintendo doesn't have any more 2022 releases to announce. After Splatoon 3, there's only Pokemon Scarlet/Violet confirmed? It feels like first party releases are a thin.

Surely a Direct is better than no Direct... Right?
I guess we'll see. If it's anything like the first Partners Showcase then I will be like "yeah we probably would have been better off with just some twitter announcements."

Nah. It can happen if Nintendo wants it to happen. We can make up whatever reasons we want in our head for it to not happen again, but if Nintendo wants it they will do it.
We'll have our General Direct in September again, no need to worry. Nate's heard there may come a First Party focused presentation in the summer, which would fit the September bill. There's about a week left after Splatoon 3 launches to fit a Direct in September/Summer.

Also I doubt that’s the title. I’d imagine it’s a mini direct that is announced to be partner focused.

Partner branding is dead and reviled. Plus some third parties are working with first party IP’s no reason it can’t just be labeled a mini and they definitely aren’t mixing labels when partner directs we’re similar to minis in length anyways
I guess they’ll just drop that on a random day on Twitter. What about new N64 games? It ended this month
That could be in a direct regardless of style due to licensed games
That's the other thing, Nintendo's second half 2022 is really stacked. Be it 1st party exclusives like Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade 3, day 1 multiplatform titles like Sonic Frontiers (lets just hope this is good...) and Monster Hunter Sunbreak, exciting ports/localizations like Trails from Zero and No Man's Sky, and cool indies like Gunvolt 3 and Freedom Planet 2, there's a lot to play. I feel like if you can't find several games in the back half of this year that don't interest you on Switch then you have to be a very "picky eater" so to speak.

I thought you had dozens of X-Men United minis to paint? Sounds like you're putting off an active project right there :p
Did you miss the part about heat! I prime with an airbrush and my spot is near my window ac so I can only do it in the mornings on days I run my ac

I'm getting the impression that everyone here would have been less disappointed if there was just flat-out no Direct at all next week.
Well, I would have preferred no Direct at all than a full month anticipating an E3 calliber Direct just to get a Partner’s. I say it sincerely.

One day after, sorry
Also I think Nate said the Direct is on Tuesday, the 28th. If it drops at normal Partner showcase time, it's at 12am Japan Time so it'll be the 29th then, fitting Nate's sayings of it differing when it comes to dates/timezones

Depends. For me I don’t play 3rd parties on the switch, including indies so if it’s a direct that just mainly or only 3rd party stuff then it’s not a direct for me.

i would have been annoyed at a mini focussing on 3rd party games, if the lineup for the rest of year wasn't already so packed. i'm hopeful that the september show would be one of the best directs ever tho.
bad news happen

-> some of you: but the next (unannounced, unconfirmed) Nintendo showcase will be the best one EVER right?

I don’t get this logic

Some of those are definitely possible, but Hogwarts is under Sony marketing and I doubt would show up.
I thought it was common sense that Goldeneye would appear at Xbox's annual gamescom showcase in August, to me it makes no sense that a major first party game from Xbox would be revealed in a direct.

At this point I just wish for E3 to return next year. The moment it was canceled I know Nintendo wouldn't care for a general Direct.
Yes, Nintendo is not obligated to show/tell anything, but it's such a special time for everyone who loves them! It's one of the dates we have sure to get big things. I really hope next week for a general direct to show up, but...

Kamiya seemed kind of frustrated about Nintendo holding off on showing anything about Bayonetta 3.

I wonder if that game is done by fall but still got delayed Tropical Freeze style because Nintendo needs to fill the early next year spot.

Yup, because if there is a partner's direct next week, we'll have to wait months for the next general direct, and getting twitter drip news doesn't satisfy any of us.
If we didn't get a direct next week, there would always still be hope...

I'm really disappointed tho... they could have made a regular direct on the usual E3 week like the other companies, why are they switching things around? They're just making the fans (that watch their directs) frustrated... Where's the next MK8 DLC pack? Where's info about games that have a 2022 window, like Bayo and M+R? Where's the rest of the 1st party output for the year? It seems so weird to not talk about 1st party stuff, when last year we got like 4 1st party announcements releasing that year at E3...

I really don't understand the thought process over at Nintendo that allowed the "big" June Direct everyone was waiting for to be... a Direct Mini Partner lmfao. Literally nobody cares, nobody likes these things. People are gonna be pissed. Hell, I'm gonna be pissed, I just wanted to see mainline FE, man :(

Guess this confirms FE isn't coming until 2023...

Hopefully Nate is right about another Direct (a general?) later in the Summer, then. maybe the week after next?

Honestly I haven’t really been feeling hyped for anything Nintendo-related super recently. I was hoping the E3 season would change this. Guess I was wrong

Nintendo must be afraid of backlash from running a full direct with mainly existing games. The schedule was already stacked and in terms of new games we've only heard of DK and Fire Emblem rumored so it kind of makes sense that they might want to avoid doing a full direct now.

Advance Wars and Bayonetta 3, both currently have 2022 dates. If you consider Xeno 3 as an August release, we might have one first party release each month until the end of the year. It's just they're not what some people want.

I personally wouldn't be disappointed by a partner showcase, but it'd be a HORRIBLE marketing decision if they shadowdropped a partner mini and didn't say anything about plans for another showcase later.

Even if it is a Mini-Partner, I can't complain. It'll probably have majority of Japanese games, Nintendo's lineup is already stacked AND we just got a Xenoblade 3 direct.

Hopefully we see some good stuff in the partner. Persona ports and Treasures will be cool.

This is 2019 E3 Direct in a nutshell. They only announced one new Nintendo game and that was BOTW2.

I dont get why so many people are acting childish and angry that fact they expect Nintendo to do a traditional Direct this June becuase of pattens. We know what 2022 line up for Nintendo is and its actually pretty great compare to the other party offering at the moment. September seem like the logical time frame where they reveal first half of 2023 line up and the big BOTW2 blow out, a June showcase dosent make any sense for this year when Nintendo has already informed the necessary party whats coming out this year.

The only thing that gives me pause on this being a Partner Direct is the Xenoblade Direct leak that stated the game would have a final trailer in a Direct next week. Unless Nintendo refers to Monolith Soft as a Partner, this seems like a normal Mini.

Honestly it feels like Nintendo is holding back a bunch of first party games for a new Switch.
Ding ding ding.
The last year has mainly been lower budget games and ports.
And we also happen to be 5 and a half years into the console's life.

At this point there are very solid odds Nintendo is planning on launching a new console next year and is holding back stuff like Metroid Prime 4 and a 3D Mario game for it. But people want to believe this will be a 10 year console generation so we all ignore reality. Even though Drake's hardware is clearly too good to be a pro, and would only make sense to launch a 5nm based Orin device late 2023 or early 2024. The signs are there people!

Well, it seems weird that they would hold off so many games like Metroid Prime DE/HD and the WWHD+TPHD ports for a 4K Switch to me, and I think the Switch 2 is still a ways off, going off of Nintendo's comments about the Switch being about in the middle of it's lifecycle. While I don't think Nintendo is going to iterate upon the Switch, like Apple does with its products, I do think they'll keep the Hybrid console concept but I don't think we'll see the next generation Nintendo console from them next year, or even 2024. A 4K Switch, sure, but something else not really

It's the truth.

People don't care about getting trailer for games to play, they want to be fed hype. The Direct cult is basically a glorification of the idea that people must always be fed the exciting new thing, even if it is coming out who knows when and who knows in which state, I'm looking at you "E3 of Dreams (2015)".

If anyone seriously thinks no news next week is better than a Partner Direct, without knowing the content of said Partner Direct, it's because they want their hype dose.

don't really get this sentiment. even if bayo 3 gets delayed, having xenoblade 3, splatoon 3 and pokemon for the 2nd half of the year is already a more than decent lineup.
The quality Is top notch, Absolutely. I Just found Is quite thin in terms of quantity/published games. It's a really weird scenario, tbf

If you compare it to the Switch‘s other holiday periods which were kinda lackluster lately, yeah it’s „decent“.
Just don’t remember 2011 when we got a new 3D Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda title in the span of a few weeks.

I just had a thought regarding the "what are they thinking" sentiment..

What if, without the shackles of E3, they're trying to take a page from SGF and parse out stuff over a few weeks or so in order to give each segment a spotlight and stay in the conversation for a longer period of time?

"All ignore reality" are you actually dismissing Nintendo's words of the Switch being in the middle of it's life cycle
